Originally from Cortlandt, I was living out in Long Island for college and was in desperate need of a quality firm mattress due to some back problems that I had been experiencing for years. I came home for a week long semester break, and stopped by the store. Dom went out of his way to let me try out multiple mattresses that not only were on display but he went into his stock in the back and pulled out some more options for me to try out to make sure I was making the right choice with comfort, and in price range (I made sure he knew I was a poor college student). After I felt really confident that I had made the right choice, I told Dom that the only problem was a 2 hour drive out to Stony Brook LI. He was able to not only make sure that I would have the mattress before heading back for school, but he came in early on that Sunday to help me secure the mattress on the top of my car with a ton of rope and ties. Made it to out to school with no problems, and have been sleeping like a baby ever since. In a world full of big cooperations and companies eating up all the little guys, im glad to find and support a local family run business.

Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time.

Unfortunately there was an…read moreexplosion in the home just prior to purchasing it and I was forced to postpone the delivery of my furniture order (had nothing occurred the order would have been able to be delivered on time). This is where Ethan Allen customer service fell apart. Other vendors gladly agreed to hold my orders for many months with no issues due to the unusual unforeseen circumstances Ethan Allen refused to extend the time of holding my furniture frequently citing the terms of the contract that I had signed and that it "wasn't their fault". They wanted to force me to pay outrageous storage fees and to pay for the furniture in full, site unseen. I was forced to secure a unit at a storage facility near the property and have the furniture delivered there. This is still an expense, but much cheaper option than what Ethan Allen was going to charge me for storage. They even had the nerve to not deliver the complete order to the storage facility. They had to make a 2nd delivery to the unit a week later with the missing items. The storage unit is near my new home but is a 200 mile round trip from where I am temporarily living. So I had to travel a total of 400 miles because of their negligence with the delivery. Manager Barbara and salesperson Deborah were absolutely abominable and have zero compassion or customer service skills. I realize what occurred fell outside the parameters of their precious contract, but this was a very unique and unusual situation which required them looking past all that to help out a customer. Shame on Ethan Allen. They represent themselves as a high end store...when you are purchasing. Once the purchase has been finalized their true colors shine through. ** I live in Congers NY. A recent example: we have a beautiful George Nakashima table and have always admired the leg support construction. We asked Rachel to build an art gallery-style bench with the same type of support. She simply looked at the table when she was here and, a few weeks later, delivered a stunning Nakashima style bench with exquisite black walnut legs. If I pointed to this bench and told you it was Nakashima, you would believe it. I wasted fourteen hours yesterday waiting for this and another hour on the phone with your people and they could only offer me a refund and had no idea where my grill is. Keep your form, I'm ordering from Lowe's. UPDATE: The identical grill at the identical price just arrived at my house. From Lowe's. I got notifications and emails the day before, texts and calls from the driver the morning of delivery. It was delivered at the beginning of a 4-hour window instead of making me wait fourteen hours for nothing. I was able to track the delivery van directly in the app. They put the grill exactly where i asked and were incredibly pleasant. There are much better alternatives, nobody ever needs to suffer through Home Depot again
