In store customer service and phone customer service both were good. The mattresses are quality and the transaction was easy. The problem lies with their delivery team. We ordered a twin box spring and cal king mattress. The delivery drivers ripped the bottom of the box spring open while tossing it on the frame. And then used a box cutter to open the cal king mattress ripping the bottom of the mattress open . The delivery team also broke 4 picture frames in total after two trips to our house. Mattress firm did replace both the box spring and the mattress and we are fine now but the delivery team they are using is VERY bad and needs to replaced. read more

Let me first start by saying this location will be getting remodeled soon and will look completely different. No more green floors! However, don't let the current design fool you, this place is awesome! The customer service is impeccable! Literally left nothing to be desired! Extremely helpful, courteous and professional! Didn't feel pressured to make a decision on the spot or to get an upgraded model. Instead the salesman took the time to have us lay in several different beds and give feedback... too hard, too soft etc. after hearing our feedback he would recommend a different bed to try. We chose a bed that had excellent value but met all our needs. We were able to get the Black Friday prices too! The delivery service was a great experience too! I hate buying mattresses. Every store has unique brand names and styles so comparison shopping is next to impossible, descriptions are confusing (a mattress that is labeled 'firm' by one brand feels softer than the one labeled 'soft' by another), and the salesmen are always trying to talk about coil density and other arcane details that I doubt have much of an impact on a good nights sleep (800 Coils vs. 850 makes a difference - really?!). And I absolutely can't stand the theatre of lying on various beds trying to figure out which one feels just right - at best I can weed out the ones I don't like. So when my wife told me we needed a new mattress for our fast growing daughter, and possibly a complete new bed set for our guest room ("Why? Isn't there a La-Z-Boy in there?") - I tried to avoid the purchase as long as possible as any self-respecting mattress-shopping-hater would. But Labor Day and it's irresistible sales were approaching, so we all piled into the old minivan and headed 25 miles east (past the windmills) to Sleep Train in Tracy - which just happens to be the only mattress store in the Bay Area we've ever had a good experience at, back in the good old halcyon days when it was just the missus and me. Walking in, we were greeted by William F., who showed us his wares (no pressure, just the way we like it) and patiently waited while all of us tried over a dozen beds, from Sealy Posturepedics to Simmons BeautyRests to a few other fancy brand names that I can't remember, in multiple firmness and plushness levels, multiple times. My younger one even managed to get her afternoon nap in, we were there so long. But nary a protest from Mr. William. Finally we made our selection - a queen bed set and an extra queen mattress, and in addition to the advertised Labor Day sale discounts, he threw in a "multiple-purchase 20%-off-everything" discount. And when I checked in on Yelp, we got the bed frame for free, and an additional 25% off the mattress protector. We saved at least $700 on over $2100 worth of bed frame, box spring, mattress protector and two mattresses. Couple of other things that left me a happy camper: --- all our purchases came with a 100-day warranty, so we have till Thanksgiving to try out our beds --- delivery and installation were completed the next afternoon in 9 minutes flat (yes, I timed the delivery guys), and they arrived in the two hour window they said they'd come (they even called 30 minutes before they were due to arrive and got there on the dot - perhaps they were trained in Switzerland). So yes, thanks to the Sleep Train in Tracy and Mr. William F., I now hate buying mattresses a little bit less. read more

Do not buy from them. I bought a mattress and paid 1500 for it. It had a 10 year warranty. It lasted 2 years and a side caved in. But because I guess there was a small stain on the side of it they won't replace it. Were you really going to resell it? Stay away. And Don't but a Simmons they don't last. Buyer beware Warrantees are not what they imply This review is for the things that they don't tell you regarding your mattress warranty until you try to use it. Original mattress was purchased from sleep train I had given them a five star review I have no issues. When the Mattress begin to sag I went into the store and asked about warranty she gave me the original receipt and explained how to get the warranty process online pretty simple take a picture fill in the questions wait five days. it was approved took that letter in to store for replacement. 1. You'll never be able to get the same mattress as per sales person previous models discontinue yearly (prepare yourself for the upsell) 2. You will pay for delivery 79.99 We wanted to pick it up per sales person "warranty" has to be inspected by driver before they actually replace the mattres 3. You will have to pay $10.50 to haul away defective product 4. Your replacement doesn't qualify for the 120 day love it guarantee not matter what you purchase you only get that once. up-grade or new do not qualify 5. Your replacement mattress does not qualify for any sale discount or special offer you will pay full price 6. You will never be able to speak with anybody at the corporate level regarding anything. you'll be put on the phone automatic loop and bounced around until they disconnect you When we went in to Tracy location to replace the mattress, found out that original bed no longer available Per the store sales person they discontinue the models yearly. During the sales pitch for one of the mattresses the sales person said " when you put your weed on it". Pretty sure she meant weight. Unprofessional not humorous at all. we were up sold into several other more expensive models. My husband and I were debating on a very expensive memory gel foam hybrid. Until I asked about the 120 days fearing my husband may not like the feel of the gel memory foam. I was informed that regardless of what we purchased we no longer qualify for any type of trial. I couldn't in good conscience purchase a $3500 mattress that I wasn't sure we would like and could not exchange. Back to square One of regular mattress shopping our model wasn't available so we did upgrade per our choose. We proceeded to the register to review the order and the numbers didn't look right and not close to what estimated for the up grade. we were informed that we did not qualify for the sales price listed on the bed of 1039. She states that warrantees have to pay full price regardless of what we were to purchase. As well as $80 delivery fee the original bed was delivered for free and a $10.50 Fee to dispose of their defective mattress. After some disagreement for my husband regarding all the fees she did act like she was doing us a favor by giving us a small discount. There are so many numbers on the final invoice that I'm not even sure what the original price of the mattress should be guaranteed low price of 1299. Or extended price 1149. Why They wouldn't honor the sale price of $1030 is totally beyond me and the reason that this review is so lengthy. had estimated with the upgrade it will be $250 more than our credit for defective mattress. It's cost Me almost 500$ to replace an 800$ warrantee mattress when it was all said and done. Definitely wouldn't recommend them and I definitely won't be shopping again if I can get my $500 in 10 years out of this mattress I'm gonna go somewhere else. read more

Went in to buy 2 twin mattresses. I had just moved to the area and needed some cheap twin mattresses for my guest bedroom. I went into Mattress Firm and was greeted less enthusiastically than I would have expected, but to be honest, I wanted to come in and purchase a mattress, so in I went. I asked the sales man very nicely if he had some inexpensive twins and he very passively pointed to the back of the store in the "value section" and said "oh, you probably want to try back there". Not fazed, I went to the back of the store to look at the mattresses and realized these mattresses were very bad quality. They were actually similar to the ones I slept on back in the 1980s with no padding, and just the spring boards. Still determined to get mattresses, I asked how many he had in stock. "Oh we don't have any in stock," he said. Shocked, I asked how they can deliver the mattresses, and he told me that they ship them from a warehouse in Sacramento. He then asked me where I lived, and I told him that I live literally 4 miles away from the store and he told me that they only deliver to certain area codes--and then proceeded to rattle them off. To my surprise, the ones he listed were further away from the store AND further away from Sacramento--where the mattresses supposedly are located. Completely turned off at this moment, I turned to my mother and said, "Let's go to Costco". Which we did--and got 2 twin mattresses with plush pillow tops for $179 a piece. Moral? She greeted us from the distance while helping others in the store which is cool because she is only one person doing multiple things trying to answer questions from across the store. Normally we would go to multiple locations when shopping for something this big however Alyssa made this very easy. My brother picked out the bed. Got approved for the financing in minutes and we could've left but we all got stuck chatting about great customer service instead. We have previously bought mattresses here, decent brands, mid-range prices. They never lived up to their typical 10yr warranty, but were close, so no issues for me at that time. My complaint recently, upon shopping for a new mattress, is the cheesy, change-your-song-and-dance, salesperson here. I was sold on a high end mattress that would guarantee me support for 25yrs. After just a few weeks, it was sagging, and causing back pain. Went back for exchange via the 100 day comfort guarantee at ~day 30. Thank god I am a smart, savvy person, or I prolly would have walked out of there apologizing for my criticism of the mattress! The salesman proceeded to tell me that that was the top of the line, blah, blah... After I mentioned that the website mentioned we could get a total refund (not just exchange), the song and dance were changed. NOW, said mattress was indeed "soft", and doesn't maintain well Next came plan B to sell me on a completely inappropriate second mattress to keep pricing the same or higher for the exchange. After going through so much lame sales crap, we finally settled up, and ended up with a cheaper mattress that FELT much better (fyi- read consumer reports, other online reviews that talk about PRICE not being indicative of a good, quality mattress). Bottom line: The products are ok here, but shop around. Salespeople are polite, but expect the "car salesman" treatment into higher priced product. God forbid you must exchange something, hold your ground, and don't let them tell you that refunds are not possible, that you need to spend the same amount, and beware of them steering toward same/higher priced mattresses or "accessories". Here is the 100 day guarantee from their site: "Guaranteed Satisfaction No one has a better money back satisfaction guarantee! If within 100 days after your purchase you are not completely satisfied with your mattress, you can exchange it for another selection or receive a FULL REFUND...no questions asked*." To sum it up, if you buy here, it is pretty straightforward. Some sales exaggeration to be expected. Not a negative experience, overall. But if you choose to return your mattress, under the 100 day guarantee, expect resistance in the form of: pushing you toward a comp or higher sale, pushing you to invoke the warranty vs exchange (thus dealing with the manufacturer vs. Sleep train- this buys them time in the "100 day comfort exchange" if your warranty is rejected, which it usually is), saying the terms of your credit agreement are now changed, threatening that you cannot buy with the company for 6mos afterward, etc. (BTW- all that was not enforced on our return:-) Yikes, I just totally needed to take a major shower after that experience! My husband and I went into the Tracy store at 2753 W Grant Line, on 9/2/12 to purchase a new bed. Daniel Perdue, the store manager, was the one who assisted us with this purchase. We have not bought a new bed in over 10 years so it was helpful to have someone with knowledge to help us pick out the right fit for us. However, this was not the case. He did not discuss the difference between the types of beds, construction or dynamics, he just was focus on a bed that was on special at that time. He didn't even ask us how we slept which I thought would be a important question to ask. We are not experts on mattresses and felt like Daniel was no expert himself When you have a Sales Manager, such as Daniel Perdue representing your company, Sleep Train, I would hope that we would of received that type of service. We ended up purchasing the Beautyrest 850f and every day we attempted to sleep on it all we experienced was pain throughout the night. We went back into the store to let Daniel know of our disappointment with the bed. He then offered a memory foam topper 2" as a resolution to the problem. It was more like a Band-aid fix!! You shouldn't have to pay good money for a bed and have to use a topper to correct the problem. He said that if this bed still does not work for you, then the topper is yours to keep. That we don't take them back. Of course, we did not want the bed anymore and asked for a full refund. Now during the scheduled day to pick up the bed, I receive a message from Ryan that they need the topper back. I called back and spoke with Daniel. He explained that Ryan must have overlooked the fact that the topper needed to be returned. I again let him know that we both recall how the conversation took place and nowhere in that conversation did he state that he needed the topper back. He then changed his statement and said we could only keep the topper if we exchanged the bed with another one. Well that was not what was told to us, nor was there any documentation to back this up on the paperwork or disclaimers. After a not so professional conversation with Daniel, he then called back and left a message threatening us that if we didn't return the topper we would not get our refund back. I do not like to be threatened and would hope that this establishment would not conduct business like that to the consumer. I too am in sales and if I treated my clients like Daniel Perdue did then there would be no repeat business nor any referrals. We started out at the other mattress store across Grant Line and were not happy with the salespeople there. Well up to speed on the mattress salesman script, thanks to the internet, we were prepared for the sales strategy that's typical of mattress salesmen. We had just left the other store for that reason. When we walked into Sleep Train we were greeted by Gary, the guy with the beard. He knew we had just come from another store and asked us what we liked. We told him straight up that we found a mattress we liked and we wanted to see if they had a comparable one for a better price. He showed us a few and we found one we like. He negotiated the price to something we were satisfied with, we ordered the mattress, and he had it delivered a couple hours later. We were in the store for less than an hour. The next day, both of our backs hurt. My husband's more than mine. It wasn't just our backs, the bed wasn't as firm as it was in the store. We called right away and said, "We need to return this mattress." The kid that answered said, "No problem, bring it in. Why do you want to return it?" I didn't mind him asking, but our receipt clearly said, "Return with no questions asked." He asked a few questions and told me that all mattresses have a adjustment period. We knew that, but we've slept on many hotel mattresses and none of them ever made our backs hurt. The following weekend we went back into the shop, said we wanted to return the mattress and maybe get another one. Gary was back. We were glad to be working with the same guy. Gary pointed us to a couple mattresses that were a little more firm and we found one we were interested in. Again, we negotiated the price and although I think we could've gotten the mattress a little cheaper, we made the deal. Just like that, they dropped off the new mattress for free the next day and took away the old one, free of charge. One thing we didn't like is that Sleep Trains "100 day satisfaction guarantee" only applies to the first mattress you purchase there. Our second mattress does not get that same 100 day guarantee so if we don't like this one it's going to cost us and it will be a hassle. Thankfully, my husband's back already feels better after one night. Overall, Gary made the annoying task of buying a new mattress less annoying and I would recommend seeing him if you're looking for a mattress. Sleep Train gets credit for letting us return our first mattress for free, but with all those damn commercials they play stressing the guarantee, I think they should let you keep trying out mattresses until you find a match. read more

My customer experience was wonderful at the time of purchase. Justin, the store manager was happy to take our nearly $4000 and exchange pleasantries. The after care is what I'm writing to caution you about. Within a week I had an issue with the mattress and wanted to make an exchange. When I called to speak with Justin (and every time we spoke after), the friendly customer service had come to a halt. I was required to bring photos and make endless calls. Only to have the District manager, by way of the store manager, say sorry I can't do anything for you. I have worked in retail and retail management upwards of 30 years and wouldn't even think to care for a valued customer in such disregard. I just want to share my experience with Mattress Firm. I ordered a mattress online from mattress firm during the pandemic. I paid for the gold service. Their website states "Delivery teams are wearing protective face coverings and shoe booties." and "Proactively asking customers if they would like for us to use gloves when making their delivery." When the delivery showed up he wanted to see where the mattress was going in my house so he started to enter my home at this time I asked about the shoe booties. He yelled out to someone on the truck about it, and they said they don't have those. In my opinion it sounded like he did not know anything about them. They did not ask me about gloves, but all three had masks. Two of them were wearing the mask correctly and one was only covering his mouth. I reluctantly let them deliver the mattress because there was a flight of stairs and a cal king mattress, that is why I paid for the gold service in the first place. We reached out to customer service after calling the Tracy, CA to complain and the store said they could not help us and we would have to open a ticket online. We did and received a call about an hour later. She said the there was nothing she could do because it was the start (Friday) of the Labor day weekend and asked what we wanted. We stated that we thought the $100 gold service fee did not live up to what was promised and we would like it refunded. She said she would ask and get back to us on Tuesday of the following week. We have received no call back and no refund as of today 9/20/2020. I again tried to open a ticket on online and have received no response. In my opinion customer service after the purchase is very poor. I will not be buying anything again from Matters Firm, if they can't resolve a simple issue. read more

Really off putting experience walking in today. We walked in today to look for a twin mattress for my daughter and there was a male employee helping an elderly couple near the entrance. It took him a moment but he said "hows it going guys?" in a tone that didn't sound welcoming. The elderly gentlemen there started to tell him "you can help them" and he all he said was "no i'm with you guys". He didn't pay us another glance, even his tone in continuing to talk to the elderly couple sounded aggressive. A simple "hey welcome in, I'll be with you as soon as I'm done helping them or if you have any questions my co-worker over there can assist you". The employee at the counter didn't greet us, and it wasn't until we were looking at the twin mattresses he finally stepped away from the computer to say "did you guys have any questions?". We just felt unwelcomed and as if they didn't really want to be bothered. We had already seen what twin mattresses they had and the price listed on them so we just left. No "have a nice day, thanks for coming in".. nothing. The first employee helping the elderly couple looked like he was giving us the death glare as we walked out. Won't be returning. read more
