(How would you not try out a mattress before buying??) I wanted to look at a local company first and try out the mattress we'll get. Heather at this Texas Mattress Makers was awesome. She was so friendly, knowledgeable and patient (because I had to bring my children with me.) Some of the things that I loved to hear: -10 year warranty -if anything happens after that, they can FIX IT (you pay material cost). -want to change the top padding only, they can do that. -couple wants different mattresses? THEY CAN LITERALLY BUILD A 1/2 and 1/2! -90 day comfort guarantee. They want you to LOVE your mattress. I tried out different mattresses and learned that the company would custom make the one I picked. Unfortunately, I didn't want to wait the nearly 2 weeks for it to be made. Heather checked the computer and found one that had the base of the less expensive mattress but the cushy cloud top of the more expensive one I liked. Perfect! Paid for it and it would be delivered for free in 2 days. Delivery came as expected and the 2 guys were great. They even moved our previous mattress to our kid's room. (So helpful because seeing them struggle with it makes me pretty sure my husband and I would have had issues.) Main thing now is that the bed feels VERY FIRM.... Nothing like the cushy cloud I was expecting. I was ready to call them and tell them we didn't want this one. Will give it the 90 days. (Sigh) I was really expecting that fluffy one. Who knows, if it doesn't soften up, we might have to exchange it for that top of the line one that felt like heaven with a hefty price tag. Despite me not LOVING the mattress yet... I know I'll eventually find the one for me. The customer service alone is 5-star.

Now, this joint has pretty much every type of mattress you might be looking for (don't let the "Clearance Center" in its name mislead you), but they attempt to up-sell like nobody's business! While we were dealing with the salesman, some other employee walked in with a bag of to-go food, an all the employees seemed to be looking his way. I get it -- there's no lunch hour when you are a salesperson. But damn, guys! If you didn't try to upsell so much, we could've been out of there, an you would've had a commission ... and your Taco Bell! Bottom line: We thanked our guy and let him know that we were still looking (we ended up buying elsewhere). He was polite. ***Delivery Crew Danger***…read more I have achieved a new level of anger this evening, at the ineffective and lazy delivery men of AFW. On top of them throwing my couches, damaging my walls, being insanely rude to my wife, cursing, intimidating my wife about having to take pieces of our couch up a flight of stairs, and complaining the whole time they were here, I have now discovered that the American Furniture Warehouse delivery men helped me achieve a new level of CUSTOMER DISSATISFACTION, by not even actually assembling the couch! Please tell me what was the purpose of the delivery?! What the actual fudge is the delivery fee for?! I only discovered this after I heard squeaking and grinding as we tried to recline and sit. And when I pulled on the top of the seats they all came apart. I have no idea if there is damage now and I cant begin to express my anger enough. This is the 2nd time AFW has failed massively. I realized as i came here to leave this review they botched our delivery for my daughter's bedroom set 4 & 1/2 years ago. I had forgotten that, and inadvertently i have given them another chance. However while I'm sitting at home Friday night waiting for my delivery- I call the store just to make sure its coming and the guy assures me it is. BUT it never does,. I call the next morning to find out why I sat home for 4-5 hours waiting and they tell me oh its scheduled for this evening (which was not convenient for me) I try and get them to push me ahead and have it there earlier in the day but they would not accommodate. We were told if ANYTHING goes wrong with this mattress it comes with a 20 year warranty. Fast forward to present day, and our mattress is sagging horribly and creaking worse everyday. We open a warranty claim, but it is denied. Why? Due to "inadequate frame support". What is "inadequate frame support"? No idea, because the 'terms' of their warranty don't define this or elaborate whatsoever. This is simply a loophole for them to be able to deny your warranty claim. Our frame is most definitely not inadequate. We are using intellibed box springs and a top of the line bed frame from one of the top furniture stores in the Houston area, definitely not inadequate. When I try calling mattress firms corporate offices the line rings and rings. I was also hung up on. I emailed them and have not received a response or explanation. Disappointed is an understatement. We spent over $8,000 on a bed and got 5 years out of it. Take your money elsewhere.
