I travel a lot and recently realized I was getting much better sleep in hotels than at home. I then realized I hadn't bought a new mattress in an embarrassing number of years, and that was likely the problem. So I went to Mattress Pros which is close to me and had great reviews.
Tracy greeted me and immediately got an idea of my budget and what I was looking for. He did a great job showing things below, at, and above my price range to help me figure out what I liked best. He took a lot of time and answered every question I had and clearly had a ton of knowledge about every product in the showroom. Also, I should mention, while I was shopping, another customer came in who had a much lower budget than me, and Tracy helped him as well and quickly helped him find a mattress that he liked that worked for him.
So, here's where things got interesting and why I'm adding on to the reviews here. I bought really nice mattress that's hand tufted and has all kinds of layers of fancy stuff going on inside. I laid down on several and spent a good 45 minutes comparing them. A couple days later they delivered my new mattress, which was exactly the brand and model I settled on in the store. I was so excited to try it out. That night, I got into bed and had the WORST sleep I've ever had. The mattress felt stiff and the tufts made my hip dip down in a weird way. I thought I was going crazy. I was lying there thinking I'd made a terrible mistake. I got maybe 3-4 hours of sleep that night.
The next day I went back over to the shop and a different person was working there. I don't remember his name but he was very patient as I explained everything that happened. He told me new beds need to be broken in. Honestly, this sounded crazy to me. Breaking in a bed? Really? He said, he'd be glad to immediately take my mattress back and help me find something else- but he asked that I please give the new one a few more nights. He also suggested I really crawl around on top of it on hands and knees to help break it in. Also, when I laid back down on the showroom model of my mattress it felt great. So, I figured, these guys know what they're talking about. I wasn't happy about being so tired, but I told them I'd give it a few days and see if anything changes.
Well, of course, they were totally right. I'd say by about the 4th night, the bed really did start to feel different. It softened up, the tufts weren't causing me to lie in any weird angles. And most importantly, now I'm getting hours more sleep every night that I wasn't getting on my old mattress. Getting proper sleep is so important to your health, and I'm really glad I bought a great mattress from the guys at Mattress Pros. Definitely recommend this shop! read more
