The sales people offered us bottled water while giving us the privacy we needed to brainstorm. We ultimately ended up connecting with Jenn, who helped us imagine the best combination of pieces. For maybe 1 1/2 or 2 hours you could tell that she was focused only on us and that she was an expert interior designer. She even offered to come to our house to help us resolve some questions. We eventually bought a couch and two accent chairs. We highly recommend this business and we look forward to shopping here again.

They sell used couches and make it seem like their in great condition but they are not. Be very very careful what you buy from them. The couches they remove from other people houses they are old and ruggedly they will sell to you. Think about if people go to them to buy a "new" couch and they take their old couches that means that person doesn't want that couch but, yet that's the couches they will sell to you. They are literally getting it old but that's the couches they resale no matter what. I would recommend if you do want to put yourself to this headache go personally if you can, don't be misled by what they say and post. They have friends and families reviewing to make them look good.They sold a couch in great condition they said and it shedding apart. They didn't even take the time to put my name right in the invoice so much they care for their customers. I don't know maybe they did that to me because I'm not white. Unique items kept catching my eye as I perused the store, but one item in particular begged for my attention: a little black and white dog figurine sitting in front of the window. His name is "Bergere," after the chair, and he has become a beloved mascot in the store. Alison has been in the design business for most of her life. In fact, growing up in her parents' store in Pennsylvania, McIndoe's, is where her passion for design began. With a degree in Interior Design and lots of experience working in the design and building industry, Alison opened AK Interiors in 1996, working from her home. At the time, she was a single mom and it allowed her to be easily available. A little more than a year ago, she decided it was time to venture out and open a boutique home furnishings shoppe in Lancaster. The Shoppe at AK Interiors is staffed by owner Alison and three other employees. The 1,100-square-foot space includes offices for the design team and a room for meeting clients. AK Interiors works with all different types of customers: residential, commercial and renovations. One service that AK Interiors offers is "Room in a Day." Basically, they use clients' existing furnishings and accessories, sometimes borrowing from other rooms, and then Alison and staff design their clients' space. While I was looking around The Shoppe, I noticed there was long hallway filled with artwork; I was intrigued so I asked about it. It turns out that The Shoppe participates in Lancaster's First Fridays where they feature local artists' works, music, drinks and nibbles. Based on our needs we requested 2 appliance garages, a large countertop pantry cabinet, an integrated fridge and dishwasher, an island full of drawers--only drawers. The challenge of the project was to create an island that could support the open floor plan and was still functional and good looking. They succeeded. MHCC also designed a trash cabinet, a spice drawer and 4 other drawers with dividers, a cabinet with roll out drawers, a cabinet tower for microwave and wall oven. We wanted painted cabinets and John at MHCC helped us find the 2 perfect paint colors. We are very pleased with the amount of work space we have, the size of the island, the flow from work station to work station, the color scheme and quality of our sold maple cabinetry.
