Originally I purchased a bedroom for my wife's arrival from the Philippines. I had not owned a bed for myself for 5+ years and I was feeling excited. The issue started with the queen mattress that I purchased. The warehouse workers tried to give me 4 inch box spring for the mattress. I told them that was unacceptable. When I got the bed home, the post for the headboard was in several different pieces. It had broken apart during shipping from their colonial heights location. This allowed me to see the cheap materials and poor craftsmanship of their work. It took 3 weeks for them to get a replacement and again I had the same problem. The less than professional manager and salesman working up front blamed me for everything and never even bothered to apologize. Finally, after having all of the parts in my possession, I start to assmeble the bed only to find out, the holes were either drilled too small or in the wrong place altogether. Again, I voice my frustrations and they blamed me for not knowing how to assemble a bed. At this point I asked for a full refund and I was declined due to their in store credit only policy. I explained that the quality of their product was so bad that I did not want anything from them. My wife stopped me from filing a civivl suit and asked me to cool off. So 6 months later I went back to use my store credit so that we would have a living room set in our home for the christmas holiday. I picked out some decent looking furniture, borrowed a truck only for them to tell me that my credit had expired and they needed to contact someone from a different office to investigate. This happened on 12/20/14, it is now 12/23/14 and I am still waiting for the release of my money, so that I can purchase something that I settled for. I told them that they are a horrible company to do with and they must hate repeat customers. I cannot ee anyone coming to their location more than once. I asked them if it were acceptable for them to have my money and my merchandise and their attitude was that they could care less. You have been warned. However, I ordered some items online (two night stands) for pickup but also took some time to look around the store at their offerings. They have a lot of good things that are priced well! I drive a sedan, so I knew that my car may not be able to fit both night stands but they let me see the boxes they were in and we were able to fit one in! Luckily, I live close by so I just drove back for the other (I didn't want to pay the $99 delivery fee clearly lol). I assembled the night stands together the same day and one of them was faulty (the leg didn't line up with the pre drilled holes). Based on their website, their return policy is not friendly but I tried my hand and called them and told them the problem. They were happy to replace it rather than me filing a warranty claim -- which I thought was super nice and saved me from a future headache. I would say that when I went to go replace it, I had to wait a very long time but they seemed short staffed and rather busy at the time.

We have purchased multiple pieces from this store in the past and felt confident doing business there again. Because we have a large family, we needed a sectional and believed we found the perfect one. The salesperson, Phil, was attentive and answered our questions (or sought help when needed). After selecting the sectional, we discussed several important details before completing the purchase. One key factor in our decision was the protection plan. Given that the sofa is light-colored and we have several children, we specifically asked about cleaning coverage. Phil told us the plan included having a company come out to clean the sofa "once a month" if needed. Based on that explanation, we felt comfortable purchasing the plan for $300. We also discussed the option of purchasing an additional piece to make the sectional larger. Phil told us that even if the sale had ended, we would be able to purchase the additional piece at the sale price because we were in the store before the sale ended. The total purchase came to approximately $3,000 ($2,700 for the sofa and $300 for the protection plan). Unfortunately, since the purchase, several issues have arisen: 1. Two days after the sale ended, I called the store and spoke with Phil about purchasing the additional piece. He initially gave me a price, but when I reminded him of our prior conversation, he said the store could not honor the sale price because it was not in writing. This directly contradicted what we were told in-store when we made the purchase. 2. When the sofa later needed cleaning, I called the store to schedule a cleaning. The employee I spoke with, Tamara, was dismissive and unhelpful, and made no effort to resolve the issue. I eventually located another number on my own and was surprised to learn that the protection plan does not include cleanings at all. Instead, I was required to file a claim to see if the issue might be covered. After several days, I was informed that my claim was approved and that a cleaning kit would be sent to me so I could clean the sofa myself. I paid $300 for a protection plan believing it included professional cleanings, not a do-it-yourself kit. This entire experience feels like a bait-and-switch. We relied on the information provided by your salesperson when making a significant purchase, and that information turned out to be inaccurate. This will be the last piece of furniture we ever purchase from Ashley Furniture. We will also strongly discourage our family, friends, and others from shopping here. We feel misled from the beginning, and it is difficult not to conclude that customer satisfaction takes a back seat to sales goals and profit.

We were then efficiently walked over to the aisle housing screwdrivers and told about the different options. They were locked in a case, so we would've needed a staff member's help anyway. Apparently people like to steal screwdrivers, which I never would've guessed. Prices seemed fair, but to be transparent, I don't generally buy tools so I don't really know the going rates. Check out was just as efficient with a couple lines in operation. And the cashier was just as friendly as the staff member working the floor.
