Our sprinkler servicing company closed during COVID, so we had New England Landscape and Design winterize our sprinklers in November 2021. According to my husband, he asked the owner if he needed to get into the house to access the water shut-off and was told no. Yesterday we opened the sprinkler lines to find an exterior pipe had burst in the winter due to improper winterization. According to the owner, my husband told him the water was shut off and he didn't need to come in the house. Classic case of two differing stories, but knowing we have always had someone come in the house to do this task, I know my husband wouldn't have said this. I emailed the owner a video of the broken pipe and he claimed several times my husband told him the inside was taken care of. He is unwilling to fix or even work with us to rectify this mistake. I was looking for a compromise and go nothing. Additionally, he brought up that he felt this was the "gutters all over again." I had forgotten about that, but his team was a week and a half late to clean our gutters. I inquired about them coming from my office one day and learned they were in the middle of cleaning our gutters when I inquired. I didn't know that because I wasn't home. My gutter inquiry must have unknowingly struck a nerve, because the owner reminded me of the gutters today when I was trying to work with him to come up with a resolution. Now I am stuck paying for a plumbing repair for his mistake. His customer service attitude is terrible, and he isn't taking responsibility to make things right. Beware. I am disappointed because we have always been pleased up until this point and have recommended this company to many others in town. But, his callous behavior today has changed our minds and we will be warning others about this company from here on out. Update: We have contacted three sprinkler companies since I filed this initial review to fix the broken valve and look into installing a backflow preventer. Each person stated that it is protocol and common knowledge for anyone to turn on outside faucets once they are done blowing out the line to ensure there is no water in the line. Had they done this we would not have had a broken valve because they would have realized the water wasn't turned off inside. Each person also told us backflow preventers are typically installed inside and indeed, we had our new sprinkler person verify and locate our backflow preventer, so NE Landscape inaccurately told us our system wasn't to code. They were correct that no one takes responsibility for their actions. A simple "Gee, your husband I misunderstood each other! What can we do to come up with a solution?" would have solved the problem when I first approached them with this. Instead, they refused to take any fault and continued to blame the customers over and over. Then they brought up something about the gutters that we had no recollection of. I recalled that they supposedly scheduled us for gutter cleaning on 11/1 and they came instead on 11/11. We didn't see the crew when I texted them and then apologized that they were there and we hadn't seen them. We were happy customers of theirs for years and are disappointed in their demeanor and business response. It's too bad, because we are about to install a huge retaining wall in the back and were going to have them do the job. Attitude is everything, and we are not pleased with their approach to this situation at all. Others in their industry have all said they made the mistake by not checking the faucets before they left last fall after blowing out the lines. We paid $200 for someone to fix their mistake and still, they are being unprofessional about the situation and taking zero responsibility.

Aztec Paving and Masonry was hired to pave our driveway. The quality of the work was less than…read moreexpected. There are various low spots, dents and tripping hazards throughout the driveway. I was told by Ryan Delaney that they would be returning to correct the deficiencies. It has been two (2) weeks. No contact or sign of his crew. The driveway was poorly installed because of what I feel was the lack of attention. Attention was directed to other projects and not focused on completing our job. The roller was diverted to other projects when it should have been used to complete our driveway. There were secondary issues. Concrete was spilled on a wall that will now have to be chipped away. Debris (drink bottles and cups) were left scattered about by the workers. The crew didn't have sufficient tools to perform the work and "borrowed" some of ours, some without permission. I wish I could but I can't recommend them.

The job was a big one, but these guys knew exactly what they were doing and how to do it. The whole process began several years ago when we realized our retaining wall was on the brink of collapse. We had seen Natural Green's trucks around the neighborhood, maintaining our neighbors beautifully landscaped yards and always admired their work. When a mason we had worked with recommended them, we made the call and set up a consultation right away. Arlindo arrived on time and ready to get down to business. He's polite, warm and very, very smart -- this guy knows his landscaping. We went over what we wanted to do, what needed doing and how is should be done, and within a day we received a quote. It was very reasonable, but still a lot of money -- something we definitely would need to save up for. Fast forward to a year and a half later, and we were ready to roll. Arlindo stuck to his initial quote, which we appreciated, and when we needed to go a little deeper and get more work done, he and his team worked very hard to come up with the best possible price, and walked us through exactly how they did that. The end result is a beautiful back yard, patio, fence, stone wall and front yard that not only enhances the beauty of my home, but increases the value of the property as a whole. I have never seen such a hardworking group of men in my life, and the fact that such a dramatic transformation took place over a few short months is amazing to me. Through it all, Arlindo, his father and their team were a pleasure to work with, so much so that we've had them back to make sure everything is kept in tip-top condition. I couldn't recommend these guys more -- if you're looking for landscaping, hardscaping, or even yard maintenance, these are your guys. They're definitely mine!

They showed up a week after the call and let us know that our yard was too wet to work. They then came back a week later when the yard had dried out and completely brought our yard back to life. It's beautiful now. Neighbors comment on it regularly. Natural Green was precise, efficient, and quick. I've already referred them to family, who have had the same experience and reaction. They can turn your roof deck into a garden, or your urban yard into a garden room. Botanica bostonia is the rare confluence of a garden designer and a horticulturist who knows what will grow in your soil, your light conditions, and what it will look like in a year and 5 years from now. This South End based business first helped me with winter planting for my condo association's street side containers, and then next my own garden. Not offended by small jobs, they can also handle building a pergola, and complete redesign and planting of a yard. They've built flagstone walks and granite topped brick planters. Owner-designer Dan LaBarre knows his plants, and delivers gardens that look great the day he finishes up, and even better months later.

Erik had no problem at all doing that and tearing out some unsightly and overgrown bushes. He set up an appointment to come and see the project, turned up right on time and was able to start work within two weeks. He and his team gave us a whole new yard in less than three days. They ripped up the old landscaping, removed the asphalt, regraded the back yard and lay sod. They started and finished on time, made sure I knew what was going on at each stage of the process and demonstrated perfect professionalism throughout. Erik made sure I was happy with the results before he left and gave me some great tips on caring for my new lawn. Then they came in, destroyed the whole old steps in one day, and build a whole new frame for them out of concrete (not sand), cinderblock, and cinder bricks. Then we can go to Value: The estimate for the work was incredibly reasonable for 5 days worth of work for 3 people. So much precision in the joints, in the alignment of the blue stone, and in the stairs. Our back steps get A LOT of use, and there is a water\ice leak over them that causes a lot of trouble. The new steps were re-designed to shed water so that this problem is rare. I am so happy with them!
