We were served homemade focaccia, plain and with herbs as well as local taro bread and served with homemade Italian garlic butter with rosemary from her garden. Lunch was fresh pineapple fried rice with tofu, fresh broccoli with sesame seeds and almonds and a little butter, local zucchini boats filled with seitan and mozzarella cheese on top, and roasted sweet potatoes. Hawaiian corn on the cob (non-GMO, so smaller and sweeter -- I devoured it!) was served. Dessert was local fresh fruit consisting of apple banana slices, strawberry papaya, & kumquats, mixed with grapes and strawberries and homamade banana bread. This was served with homemade sorbet and local macadamia nut ice cream. Absolutely delicious! Lunch was served quickly (15 minutes early) and the kitchen was clean when she left. We had a number of different requirements for our family members -- gluten free, vegan, and big carbo loaders -- and Kevin and Courtney provided delicious meals for them all. Helpings were enormous! And they were really flexible about timing and menus! For New Years eve we had amazing sashimi, coconut shrimp, crab cakes, chicken piccata, huge salad, spring rolls and delicious homemade desserts. SBE were really easygoing when we asked to make a few tweaks to the appetizer menu, changed the size of the wedding cake (and then changed it back), and inquired about rentals. It all went very smoothly. Expectations and rules were clearly laid out in the venue contract regarding costs, service, vendors, rentals and food. We had one surprise with the admin fees on the bar tab the night of the wedding but the service was so excellent we didn't worry about it. The venue is gorgeous! It's right on the beach but the ceremony takes place on grass, which was helpful for our guests. It has a lovely path along the side garden that we used as the wedding entrance. The house is quite large and allowed for dinner in air conditioning. They even had the AC cranked up in the bride room for getting ready. We got A LOT of compliments from our guests (and vendors) on the food. I had at least one guest compliment that they loved each appetizer and each entree.
