Coming from Texas, I did a lot of research for vendors across the island. We were flying in to "get Maui'd," so whoever I ended up choosing was based off initial impression. I'm glad I found MMA. Update: 10/18/2021 Liz the owner did reach out to me a few weeks before my wedding and apologized for the lack of customer service I received. Dana no longer works at their company and someone new has taken over her position. I completely understand when owners entrust their employees to do the right thing, but behind the scenes do not live up to the expectations. I really appreciated the fact Liz took time to reach out and explain the situation and of course tried to make things right. After speaking with her I ended up booking services with her two senior associates, Anna and Sarah. I guess because it was a somewhat last minute booking, they had prior appointments on the day of my wedding. Therefore Sarah and Anna were running a little late than the proposed time of 12:15pm. Sarah did my makeup, it definitely lasted all day although I felt like my face was melting off because of how hot it was on my wedding day and I had tears running down my face and it looked like I was freshly done. I was quite impressed when I went to clean off at 30mins before midnight. Hair: my mom and I had our hair done. Hers seem to have survived the night however mine was falling apart. My hair accessories came out following my photos on the beach. Maybe I moved too much? My veil wasn't put in prior to Anna leaving and then I ended up forgetting to put it on and didn't have it the entire wedding. A bit bummed about that. Anna did however help my bridesmaid pin up her hair which was appreciated, she definitely didn't have to do that. Overall the interaction and services were great. I suggest getting extra pins placed for hair accessories to stay put. Even the lighter ones! I had one heavier piece which luckily came with strong metal Bobby pins and Anna was able to use those to secure it. But my two small pins did not stay in my hair. Recommend them. Just make sure they have enough time to start your session and not rushing from another appointment. Being late or not in much hurry seems like the trend here in Maui. The girls came on time and they were quick! They brought their own high chair for the makeup and they knew exactly where to place everything for extra lighting, etc. I wanted a side bun for hair and they did a wonderful job. My hair is pretty thin so I was surprised how big they got the bun to be! It held well.. Even in the heat and humidity of Maui. I was able to jump and dance and the updo stayed where it should've. I wanted some framing in the front, which she forgot to do.. But did try to pull them out after the updo was done. She came back to set it before leaving, while I was doing my makeup. Being a destination wedding, there can be some anxiety working with people hundreds of miles away but I always felt I was in good hands. Liz also has experience in doing glam in LA so I feel like she understood the more modern "clean girl aesthetic" techniques that are sweeping Hollywood right now. I felt it was the much newer "more is less" than the often heavier bridal looks I've seen, which was perfect for me. I wanted my look to be classic yet natural so I could look and feel like myself, not some mega glam version I wouldn't recognize when I look back on these photos in years. Even having met Liz only twice before the big day, she knew exactly what I meant and delivered just that. She listens to your needs and has a great instinct with creating an overall look. She also gave me a second lip color for my after party dress change! Another bonus, Liz was simply easy to talk to and a pleasure to spend time with which is exactly the person you want on a potentially chaotic, stressful event. Anna, who did my hair was also phenomenal and such a pleasure to work with. She did an incredible job with an updo that was perfection. I'll never be over my wedding look. Every single one of my bridesmaids, mom and sisters were so happy with their looks. Everyone looked gorgeous! I would highly recommend Liz and her team to take care of you on your special day. I was able to meet Liz and Shelby a year prior to our wedding, and we scheduled a trial run for my engagement photos. Everything turned out great and I was so excited to use them for our wedding. The day of our wedding, all 7 of us were taken care of quickly and everyone loved the outcome.
