I really wanted to like this place more and we even made a drive out of it. I can see how it can be really nice (per IG) but I think we went at a bad time b/c it was pretty dead, lots of trucks were closed w/signs they'd be back in the evening so we were very limited in our food options. We went about 4ish but seems they're opened till much later and that's when it gets lively. It's a nice place to walk around though, but it's not very ADA friendly as there's lots of gravel and rocks so something to keep in mind. There's limited parking in the front but also a large parking lot in the back. Restrooms were clean. read more

Not what we expected when we read "gardens". It is more like an event space with lots of food trucks amongst the trees. Not like a garden you walk through with different plants and flowers. They have lots of things, though. There was a yoga session happening in the middle lawn area. They have a butterfly area, even though the butterflies were somewhere else. There is an aging tortoise, I forget his name. There are also different businesses in the buildings, like a spa and a salon. There are different small vendors with their booths and several food trucks; although, some were not open in the morning and the Thai food truck had all their items sold out on their menu already. The prices were even more pricier than the food trucks at Maui Food Trucks. One vendor had hand crafted desserts for $20/piece! I admired from afar, haha. Everything is advertised as "farm to table" maybe justifying their prices. We shared an acai bowl and it was mid. The the peanut butter was just scraped on the side of the bowl. Our typical acai bowls at least put the peanut/almond butter in the middle like any other topping so you can get an even bite with everything. But the dallop of peanut butter just on the side, it was like we ordered peanut butter on the side of our acai bowl. It was weird. I bet it's more alive at night with more food trucks open and live music. We came and saw and didn't come back. I can see how it can be great for families with toddlers running around, giving them a safe space to burn their energy. Until then, this probably won't be the top of our list. read more

South Maui Gardens is a nice place to stop to look at some trinkets and pick up some food from one of the many food trucks. The area is lush with lots of plants and there a many vendors along the path where you can pick up a souvenir or gift to take home with you. The trucks offer a lot of different dishes to experience, my favorite being the one that sold Hawaiian plates, e.g. Kalua Pork and mac. It's a great place to stop by, relax and chill after a hard day of adventures. Surrounding parking is easy and plentiful. The area to the back of the lots has lots of parking space. read more

My favorite spot in Maui! It's SO beautiful with lots of foliage and statues. The bird picture opportunity was a serious highlight of my trip, the birds were affectionate and talkative which was so fun! The food trucks were to die for, especially Thai me up and smash burgers the nursery was so interesting, but everyone who worked there is what made the experience! I lost my tshirt I had bought at the nursery and returned the next day to look for it. A south gardens employee saw me and told me they had found my shirt and had walked around trying to find me the day before. They kept my shirt in the office with a note. Everyone was so sweet and helpful! I 20/10 recommend this place for everyone visiting Maui Shoutout to Corey for giving me my shirt and recommending me a locals beach with detailed directions. We visited the South Maui Gardens while in Maui recently, and it did not disappoint! They are open Monday-Saturday from 8am-4pm (for the gardens) but many of the food truck options remain open till 8pm. The premises is beautiful. Lots of lush plans and greenery to see as well as buy. They have vendors and shops to browse and shop from, food trucks, coffee shops, and other business onsite like a hair salon etc! I would definitely make the stop and check it out! read more

Wow, how can I not know about South Maui Gardens and what it is all about and I visit Maui Tons of times! hehe. It was a spontaneous visit to pick up food from a specific food truck and I got to check out SMG, I would have to visit again since it was after 8 pm and too dark to check out the gardens but atleast I know have an idea now. South Maui Gardens a serene oasis located in Kihei, the south side of Maui. This place is HUGE, six-acre haven features full scale plant nursery, versatile event spaces, and a variety of activities for both visitors and locals to enjoy. What can you do at South Maui Gardens, explore, discover, dine, and enjoy the entertainment. Check the schedule , from glancing at the information they have a great line up of events, ex. hula shows and comedy nights. South Shore Gardens is also home to tons of food truck galore, a food truck park! Too many food trucks to list but they have so many great local cuisine, here you can find the best food, all in one place! Such a great place for everyone here! We walked around South Maui Gardens for a bit and loved it so far, I didn't get to check out the tropical nursery, the gardens & plants during this visit but definitely next visit! We found parking in the back of the gardens. This place is huge so I recommend spending more time here to explore and look what food trucks are avail. before you make your decisions on what to eat & drink. You have to visit South Maui Gardens for a laidback experience. We came here 2x on different days. Although they are open 8am 6 days a week. The food trucks are not open until lunch time which is 11:30 am. It is imperative that you check their website as the Hula show schedule may change. In our case, it's only Wednesday. They have local businesses inside the South Maui Gardens, from food trucks, souvenirs etc. Lots to choose from. No entrance fee. Tip: Hula show is not free $100 per person and bring your own chair, food excluded. read more

It has been a long time since I have been down to this side of Kihei but I decided that I wanted to see South Maui Gardens as I have heard that they have done a really good job with the place. So I decided I was going to check it out and have lunch. When we arrived we parked and started walking and soon realized that this was not a small venue. I really like the way the place is setup with an event lawn that is separate from the food trucks and the other artist and vendors that are there are impressive. I definitely enjoyed looking around and I live here on Maui Just on the other side of the island. It was fun looking around today I would like to go back and see what it is like when they have more activities going on and some of the food trucks were closed. So there are a few that I wanted to try. I will have to stop by again. I had a very good time during this visit and there is so much more to explore. read more

This is a tourist treasure, a place to find all those gifts for those left at home. There is also a few restaurants and cafes, and lots of food trucks, so plenty to eat here! Parking is available around the property. We ended up with a few Tshirts, and if we had been hungry would have made the time to spend it at one of the cafe's. We were short on time and settled for a coffee and pastry and sat at the most adorable nursery area surrounded by plants. A Must see for all to find! read more

Cute Hula show. Great for relaxed environment and family outing. $100 each for show was a little steep... especially without seating. It would be helpful if the website made it clear, you don't have to preorder the meals they list after the show tickets. Was disappointed with the meals, and would have much preferred to just use the food trucks. Many families used the food trucks, so I'm assuming local people are already aware. Cool bird area with beautiful, colorful parrots. Nursery area, parking, Many food truck options. Nook and cranny type location with lots of hidden goodies. Great find if you're looking for something a little different. Nice garden/nursery setting with food trucks for a variety of flavors. You can get anything from baked bread, desserts, coffee, Thai, Indian, Hawaiian, Japanese, Canadian to American fare. The food trucks are a permanent fixture so they are all very nice, clean, and large. You should def walk around and see what each truck offers before making a choice. Prices are in par with restaurant pricing, nothing is cheap in Maui! We opted for sliders from Howzit Hawaii which did not disappoint. 3 sliders that were hot and gooey with bacon ham and double dipped fries. Guy was super friendly, service was good. There's something for everyone there. Bring the kids, there's a little play area there. Twice weekly hula shows also. read more

South Maui Gardens is one of the nicer food truck locations on Maui. Here you will find a well curated collection of food trucks set in a park like setting with other activities to enjoy. There is a art show and a comedy club too. It's a large site and there are basically 2 sections. Walk down the middle path of the park to get to the other side and more food trucks. The park is near the Kihei beaches and also to shopping. Easy parking too. read more

Really cool spot! 10/10 for families with lots of space to run and play. Giant chess board, live music, lawn space, tons of picnic tables. I thought it was odd there wasn't a communal watering hole in the center to grab an adult beverage and I only saw porta potties which is a turn off. This place is a gem! It's the first place we stopped at when we arrived and the only place we frequented. We never had bad food- but the ambiance of this place is what makes it! The South Maui Gardens is probably one of the largest food truck gatherings I have seen. There is abundant seating and a lot of shady areas too. There is a large grassy area in the middle and I believe there is live music from time to time. There is a variety of food trucks ranging from poke to tacos, to a more substantial meal. The parking area is pretty large as well. It is not too far away from the Wailea resorts area and not far from the beach if you wanted to order and take it to the beach to enjoy. I wish that we had gone by multiple times to try more of the food trucks. We will definitely stop by again the next time we go to Maui. read more

After a super relaxing day at a nearby spa we stumbled across South Maui Gardens--and wow, what a find! It's this gorgeous little garden oasis with food trucks, chill vibes and sometimes even live entertainment. The whole setup feels like a tucked-away paradise. The food was amazing with lots of great options but just a heads-up--chickens, roosters, and birds are everywhere and they're definitely not shy! Maui Urban Sketchers held a meetup here and I joined in, water colouring for 2 glorious hours, hidden in the depths of shade and greenery in the gardens. It was peaceful watching the birds play in the fountain and a singer with a guitar added Hawaiian vibes. After sketchers met up and checked out our artwork we dispersed throughout the cafes and food trucks to grab lunch. I chose spicy tuna sushi, quite a wasabi bite and oh so good, melt in the mouth and served on an artistic plate. My lunch friend decided on a poke bowl from Thai Mee Up and it looked delicious. SMG is a great place to hang out, free parking and free entry, so many choices for coffee, gelato, brunch, lunch and dinner. Plus a variety of seating all through the gardens, luckily a lot in shade. There are shows you can buy tickets for, Hula, Comedians, Musicians, plus most days there is free music somewhere in the gardens. If you haven't visited yet it is a must do! read more

I've been a TMU fan for years now and they still never disappoint. The green curry with shrimp was just so off the hook delicious last night it's hard to believe TMU haven't expanded to even more locations. Likewise the fried pork ribs. So simple but so perfect. The service at TMU is always every bit as good as the food. A little back story: Got bounced a while back from the Elite Squad. Not angry about it but to have been dropped after five consecutive years and dozens of reviews a year created a disincentive to put any real effort into my Yelp presence lately. Sure, I've eaten some good meals since then BUT... eh. I've done my part. Thai Mee Up was just too good to remain on the bench. South Maui Gardens offers a Hula Show every Sunday and Wednesday. It is a wonderful alternative to a luau. Because this venue is smaller, it felt more intimate, the crowd was engaged and the dancers and musicians were up close. Every seat has an amazing view. You can bring your own blankets and beach chairs and lay out on the lawn or grab a seat at the picnic tables in the back which are still close and great seats! The costumes, dances, story telling were beautiful. The narrator/ host kept the crowd engaged and explained every dance in a fun yet informative way. You can feel their love for their culture through their song and dance. Absolutely beautiful! The setting is a serene garden with Buddha statues throughout and food trucks with a variety of options to fit everyone's taste buds. I would definitely bring family here again. What a delightful hideaway in the heart of Kihei. It's an oasis of plants and food trucks on acres of ground, dotted with statues and interesting objects, huge colorful flower pots and colorful signs. Tall palms and tropical flowers provide cool respite from the hot Kihei sun. They have hula shows and dinner shows, and they're available for private events. Plenty of parking off street just mauka of the site. So many options of food available, along with ample seating for large amounts of people. This is a fun place to bring visitors, and entry/parking is free. Live music. There's a gift shop and many plants and trees are for sale. read more
