Dr. Comer recently "tried" to put in a crown as a preventative measure on a molar. During the…read moreprocess, he didn't use proper methods to assure even pressure when setting set the crown correctly, and caused me severe discomfort, lost hours of sleep, and many additional visits that took time from work. In addition, he did not listen to my comments regarding my tooth and discomfort, which meant he misdiagnosed my pain and delayed the corrective action I needed. Eventually I was forced to find another dentist, get a root canal, and have the second dentist re-apply a new crown. Thanks to Dr. Comer, I was able to gain the experience of getting a crown put on twice (because he did it incorrectly the first time), have a root canal (because he spent two hours grinding on the molar after taking off the first "permanent" crown and irreversibly irritated the nerves in that tooth), and spent about $1,900 on top of the cost for the initial crown. He refused to respond to any communication after all of this and doesn't acknowledge any blame. AVOID THIS DENTIST

We had a horrible visit with my 8 yr old who had an abscessed tooth. They referred us to a peds dentist and assured us we would be seen and they had more options for sedation. Sheman's office staff did not get the correct information from the other office and sent me to them with a kid who was in pain and recently numbed. Due to Sheman's staff my son did not have the work done and was left in pain until we could get another appointment. When I was upset in the office (after dealing with my hurt & upset child) the office staff thought it was funny?!? The lack of professionalism in their office staff was unnerving! This is the 3rd time I have had issues with the staff. The first time was for procedures done that were not covered by my insurance (which is excellent btw) leaving me with a shocking $500+ bill. The 2nd time I was assured I would only be billed about $40 extra on a cleaning visit (which are normally free with my insurance), but was actually billed an additional $150!!!! If you are willing to spend the big bucks out if pocket, then go for it the Doc is awesome, but DO NOT count on his staff to give you correct information or follow through!

However, the office management has caused gross problems in obtaining and maintaining appointments. There have been frustrating issues in the past but it has been made much more difficult for me to maintain proper dental care as of recent. I had an appointment scheduled (for 6 months) for a second cleaning last week and received text reminders of it. However, just days before, new reminders came in for an hour earlier than the originally scheduled time. I called the office and was told they moved my time. I advised that I can't finagle that due to my work schedule and was told my appointment would have to be moved to October.. and was only offered times that wouldn't work for me. The receptionist verified she was going to cancel the appointment and I got online and found an appointment that work ok with my schedule for just a week later (today). I received email verification that the appointment was "confirmed". I received a couple of text reminders of this appointment and, again, made arrangements to take work off early to attend. I left work early across town today and made it to the previously confirmed and rescheduled appointment just to be told my appointment had been canceled and given to someone else who "needed it" because I didn't "confirm" the appointment again via text by yesterday. I had already received confirmation of the appointment. I've used this dentistry for years and don't think I've ever confirmed via text.. nor have I ever been a no show. There is nothing in the text that states this is required or that there is a deadline to do so or your already "confirmed" appointment will be cancelled without notice. It felt like passive-aggressive game playing and I was met with disregard. Again, I was given the option of scheduling for impossible times for me in October. In this economy, having to lose time from work and with current gas prices, this sort of treatment of a patient leaves one feeling quite devalued. They put a "In training" person. Who did yet another hack job on my husband's mouth and he was in so much pain. We almost ended up in urgent care. What a mess. So we decided at that point we were going to leave and they refused to send my records and x-rays to our new dentist. Which is crazy since we paid for them, but whatever, walking away. The hygienist I had was always very nice and the dentist was very patient. I have a lot of anxiety, but the front end. Has no clue. I had A LOT of cavities that needed to be filled in when I moved to Amarillo. He worked with me in creating a personalized treatment plan, and to this day I get compliments from other dentists on how great my fillings look (weird I know, but I think that certainly speaks on the work that he has done on my teeth)! He has also helped me with trimming my teeth to help alleviate my TMJ. At the end of my two years in Amarillo, he even took the time to research local dentists in my new destination city and gave me recommendations. All in all, AWESOME dentist, if I had someone like him in my current city I would come to his practice in a heartbeat.
