First time coming here, wanted a place to check out since I was in the Wisconsin Dells area and wanted to see what the grocery store had so maybe I could take back a few things to my hotel room. There wasn't anything eye catching about this grocery store. It was just a typical grocery store, featured plenty of food, groceries, household goods, Etc. On vacation and had to stop and pick up some essentials. This place was clean and had everything we needed. Cereal, coffee, juice, milk, snacks etc. etc. I was very excited as I walked in the door and saw a huge bag of "Lucky Charms" marshmallows for sale! I had to have it. Every day, well almost every day, I drive around and go to maurers because it's the quickest drive to a nearby store. And I love this place. It's a convenient place that's always near town. I have been going here for about 5 years and I've never had a single problem..but one. I've noticed through all the years the cleanliness of the bathrooms isn't the best.. the bathrooms can be quite dirty. Once there was mold and dirt on the floors including the windows, and unflushed toilets with toilet paper everywhere. Plus there's only three bathroom stalls. I know that the owner/ employees are very aware that lots of people come in and out to use the bathroom but have they ever considered to maybe add at least a few more bathrooms or bathroom stalls? It would probably help the business. Over all the employees are usually nice but not very communicative. The food at this place and the snacks are very trendy, like Takis, Ramen noodles, and more. I love this place and I will continue to go there! If your planning for a small drive to a nearby grocery store in the dells, try maurers!! read more

The store was clean and convenient. Prices were insane. $4.29 for a Jack's pizza. Most workers were nice except the older man that was bagging groceries. He was rude and grumpy. We are going to go again but only because it is the only one around. read more

I've lived here for 27 years and I'm all about supporting Mom and Pop businesses but will no longer do my weekly grocery shopping here. The cashiers aren't trained,dont even know enough to keep meat and frozen things separate from other groceries Very slow scanning and manager doesn't seem to care about customer service. Very sad as I've shopped at Zinkes for years and the customer service is terrible. Will start shopping at Festival, I'm not the only one that sees the store has went downhill. The manager can't take constructive criticism and very defensive and impatient . There's too many other stores that will appreciate my business. . read more

As some of you may know, I have battling a nagging health problem. Hence...I have not been tooling around town in my new sports car...as much as I would like. Hopped into "old betsey" and headed into town to get my blood tested, yesterday. Decided to whip over to Zienky's for some grocerys. As an aside, it is now named Maurer's. The aisles were re-arraigned, so I needed help from employees, to navigate the new layout. They couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. All in all, my visit could not have been more enjoyable. Don't miss a visit to the deli. Scrumptious fried chicken and a wonderful bakery. This place is one-in-a-million. My only explanation for the negative reviews...employees from competitive grocery stores. Loved the new look, and I will definitely be back...Glen B. read more

The cashier didn't greet us. Only said "$5.13" and "do you want a receipt." My husband said thank you she never did.

I love to support local small business and this place is convenient in location and has a lot to offer, but I shop the weekly sales and never once have I had a trip that I actually got the sale prices on everything. Jacks pizza last week was supposed to be 3bucks, I paid 7 a piece for four of them and two were the sale price, when I questioned it, only some toppings were on sale according to her, but when I asked why the were all stacked together with the sale price on cooler she said it was the shoppers job to ask which ones were on sale like what!?!? So many times I'm over charged and have too many kids or too short of time to even argue with them... I also bought two salads last week that had mold in them and when I looked at the best by date they were 3 days over the day I bought them... lots of time there product is not switched out, we've bought cheese slices that were molded together too.. management hasn't been nice when we have approached the subject so we will just shop elsewher. read more

We were told to shop at Walmart for our groceries, but chose to shop here so that we could support the local economy. The selection was good, prices reasonable and the wine & beer choices were impressive. The customer service was the pits. The deli person snapped at me for not specifying the type of ham I wanted. That was bad enough, but that was nothing compared to the cashier. The woman was openly hostile to our groceries. It was as if each item that she rang had committed some heinous crime and we were there to be punished along with our food. I have no idea what makes the employees so miserable at this store, but I hope that they find the help that they so desperately need. read more

We have stopped in here a few times while visiting the Dells when we forgot things at our big trip to Wal-Mart. Let me just start out by saying that I LOVE little stores like this. There is something small town and comfortable about a little grocery store that bakes their own baked goods and it seems that everyone knows everyone from town. They have all the basics and essentials at higher prices than bigger stores but since this place is conveniently located right near the hotels, they can get away with charging more. It is just a quaint little store with a HUGE bakery section filled with desserts and breads. I have tried the doughnut holes and some long johns (that ended up being filled with custard, which I'm not a fan of) and both were good. The long johns were amazing except they were all filled and/or topped with chocolate frosting, two things that are a no-no for me when it comes to my doughnuts. But the doughnut holes gave me my doughnut fix even though they were a little on the dry side. The customer service is pretty average but the liquor selection seemed extensive for such a small store! Bonus! =] Overall, I love it here and would definitely recommend this little spot if you are in need of something and don't want to leave town while you are up in the Dells. read more

Location location location!!! They've got the perfect location for business in the Dells. It's located right off of all the downtown attractions near the bank. For people staying in the Dell's, Zinke's is your best shot at a grocery store outside of driving to larger grocery stores or Wal-Mart in Baraboo. They have pretty much everything you may need for a few overnight stays and some tasty pastries as wells. Almond Kringle there is SOOO good If you don't have time to drive out of town for milk and cereal, Zinke's is a great convenience. read more

Convenient location, good selection. Unfortunately I bought fruits in a plastic cup and they were not in good condition.

The selection was good and the prices were what you would have expected. This rating is based primarily on the awful customer service we received when checking out. The cashier was rude and made us feel as though we were an inconvenience to her. She then received a phone call while she was checking us out and put it on hold and proceeded to complain about the call swearing several times in the process. As someone who lives here as opposed to a tourist, I will not return to this store, and will likely drive to Baraboo or Portage to shop at Pierce's or Walmart. I found this experience to be very unprofessional and the management should be ashamed to employ such a person. read more

Let me start off by saying I can't believe how rude people can be until I walked into this grocery market. I came in with my boyfriend and his family and one woman that was behind the counter near the liquor was so rude and such a smart ass when we asked her a question about purchasing liquor. I dont know if she was having a bad day or is just always miserable, but that is no excuse to act or speak like that to anyone especially a customer. We left the stuff on the counter and left because no one should be treated like that regardless of race, religion, gender, age or etc. We won't be coming back! read more

My first time Ever buying groceries online for delivery. The website was easy to navigate along with the shop by department & search feature. My car wouldn't start due to the severe cold we are having & the cost of a taxi round trip for a total of 12 miles to go shopping, it turns out it was Cheaper buying from here, even though thier prices are a little bit higher, I Saved money. the delivery was only 20 minutes into the 2 hour slot time window they gave me, The driver was Super Polite, and I have no complaints of the produce they picked out, So I would recommend this place and I WILL use it again if I need to. read more

Janesville, Wisconsin Location It's totally bare in here now. Produce needs some TLC. Old fruit and veggies should be pulled! I went to grab a plum and all of them were so soft, my finger went through one. Its gross, so many flies and gnats and fruit flies are covering the majority of the food. I couldn't even get the potatoes because they were all green; not many know but once green, they are more poisonous! Bakery has such a small choice you're better off going to walmart or festival. Does management even care or see this? The only thing that's better is the deli, but I'm still skeptical. read more

Avoid this place if you must i went in there the other day to send a fax so i waited and waited for somebody to help me and in my bored state i was tapping something on the counter and there is one particular lady there who is always rude to me even before it changed hands screamed at me to stop making that noise she knew i was there. Out of Towner, came twice. Nasty cashiers Both times. Had markdown section, with prices supposedly as marked. Asked one associate about several non-priced items -sorry they're regular price... Then cashier basically accused me of changing not 1 but 2 tags, & had to get manager verification (for 99c priced items, which were correct). Other one said: I have to take the items out of the cart not you... & ...you can't stand there, you must stand on this side & wait...No smiles, maybe scared of the boss, I don't know. Don't buy fireworks no matter how tempting it can be when the fireworks sitting on the shelves screaming buy me light me! Beware in Wisconsin, it is legal to sell firework, which is why you may see fireworks sitting on the shelves of Zinke's, but it's illegal to possess or light firework. I've lived in Wisconsin Dells for over 14 years, and have gone to Maurer's Market many times a week and sadly a couple times daily. On Saturday Oct 19th I watched a HORRIBLE old women throw a fit, scream at a VERY YOUNG teenager, and call this CHILD names for forgetting a $1 coupon. Something that can and from what I saw was fixed at the Service Desk. This old angry women left this child (who looks so young this is most certainly her first job) crying. I watched this crone walk up to the counter, continues to carry on with her tantrum and yelling at one of the store managers and when I had the misfortune to follow out (after this little girl tearfully scanned my groceries telling her she did nothing wrong mistakes happen to everyone) this women spots the owner and goes off on him. I am very pleased with both the manger and owner of the store. The female manager fixes the MISTAKE gives this women her $1, does apologizes to this women who did not deserve one and at the same time defends her teen aged cashier and the owner's response and reaction to this person who only enjoys bring others down on what must be on a daily basis should get a GOLD FREAKING STAR. I'm so happy to see a family run store how sticks up for their employees. I WILL SO BE BACK. read more

This group Just purchase my local Sentry store in Janesville. I have shopped here for so many years but it seems they don't understand the people who shop here. I come here everyday and I noticed the new people and asked a long time staff member if they are the new managers. I found out it was the people hiring or something they seemed stuck up and the manager who we all know and love is staying but I've spoken to some friends that shop there and they are not keeping everyone. They just don't get it I will have to shop there because I can't get anyplace else due to my disability but I can certainly speak my mind. read more

Hi...I have been shopping at Zinke's since 1974, Have always found quality products there. However, about two weeks ago, I bought some veal cutlets thinking of preparing Veal Parmesan. Brought the home and put the in the freezer. Well, I prepared the Veal Parmesan last night and was very disappointed. After I thawed the product. I tried to bread them. Job was virtually impossible. They totally fell apart. The consistancy was that of well ground hamburger. Needless to say the dinner was ruined. Just though you might want to know that in the future, you shouldn't over process veal cutlets....Everything else at Zinke's is great and I will continue to shop there. read more
