I was shopping for a client with midcentury taste who likes pieces with a story behind them, and this was the perfect stop. It's a great mix of time periods and style. I received help from various people working here, and all were kind and generous with their time, even as they let me circle the store for an hour figuring out which pieces I wanted to get. Interiors Market has undergone (and from the looks of it will continue to undergo) SO many renovations and refurbishing over the last year. Milton, the new owner, and his partner Greg are the friendliest people one could hope to encounter when shopping in such a large warehouse-style shop. But PLEASE don't let the size of Interiors Market intimidate you. Like I said, Greg and Milton are wonderful, polite, and well informed about their craft. Any question I had was met with an enthusiastic response. The store has an incredible and eclectic selection of lighting, home decor, art, and furniture... and it all ranges from antique, to mid-century, right up to today's contemporary trends. Browsing through the shop may take you a whole afternoon, but frequent stops to chat (and laugh and enjoy free cheesecake samples!!!) with Mrs. Hornsby of Hornsby Cakes will not only keep you entertained, but will make you feel more than welcome into the #InteriorsMarketFamily. As much as I loved the entire place, it certainly isn't for everyone. Furniture, clothes, shoes, and knickknacks are all haphazardly stacked on top of one another. It takes AT LEAST 4 or 5 laps around the store to get a sense that you're seeing everything, and even after an hour perusing the wares I still wondered what goodies I had left behind. You've got to be up for the hunt to find the treasures. I did manage to walk out with the most phenomenal vintage coat and dress, all for a total steal given their quality and condition. Be sure to head to the back and upstairs for the 1/2 off loft, where things are disgustingly cheap. I can't believe I left a chair behind up there. Yes, I may have to completely reconfigure my apartment set up to find a place to put it, but I absolutely loved it and it was $40. Yeah, and in perfect condition. My only regret is not finding this place sooner: I would have happily outfitted my entire place (and closet) from their wares, and could have saved some money doing so. Man this place is cool- but wildly expensive…read more I have been in the antiques game for a while now and am very familiar with pricing, piece history, time periods, etc. If you are new to buying antiques and looking for a few interesting pieces, this shop is not for you unless you are willing to invest some serious cash. Or of course, unless you just just want to browse (which honestly I highly encourage! The place is like a really beautiful museum). From my own personal experience, I will tell you that you can find many of these items or items very similar at auctions, estate sales, large wholesale flea markets, and so on-- but obviously that requires time, effort, resources, and a keen eye for antiques. While most of the items in the shop would still innately be on the expensive side regardless of where you purchase (because of what they are and where they're from), the extra markup that you are paying for here is for all the work to be done for you. All (and I do mean ALL) of the hard stuff has been taken care of like finding the actual piece, cleaning/refurbishing as necessary, and staging vignettes for inspiration and decorating. This comes at a premium and the markup could be worth it if you have the money or are just willing to pay for their efforts. But for me, the thrill of antiques is in the hunt! and the negotiation; gotta love a deal. Plus, I enjoy refinishing or cleaning an item myself- which can increase its value dramatically and making my investment that much sweeter. I did love that majority of what I saw when we went were super interesting European antiques and architectural salvage- which are kind of my weakness. Also, the stars of the shop are without a doubt the oversized and incredibly unique books around the show room. All are in exquisite condition which is amazing considering many are from as far back as like the 1600s. Some were bound in velvet with metal trim, some were in a material similar to leather, there were one of a kind volume sets- I have never seen anything like them before! (insert heart-eye emoji). The books were between $300ish upwards to the thousands and are the only things I actually considered purchasing. All in all, the place is spectacular and lovely to browse- but that's pretty much as far as my interest goes with regard to shopping here.
