I held up a hinge I was looking to replace and before I could say a word the rude lady behind the counter began saying "no." As other reviewers have stated, as soon as I began asking questions, I was interrupted and told "no" repeatedly. The conversation ended with the woman telling me "I do this for a living." Went in for a cabinet hinge and repeatedly the lady kept saying "so what do you want to do? Do you want it or not?"

I went in to find replacement hinges for restored 1960s cabinets. I wanted self-closing hinges to match the contemporary matte-gold handles I'd bought from a big box store. The woman who helped me explained to me that there are very limited color options for replacement hinges on vintage cabinets, and that the handles I had chosen wouldn't have a match. She explained to me in detail how I could go about spray painting all of the hardware to get it to match. She also a explained that the problem I was having getting the holes from the original hardware to work for self-closing hinges I had bought was a problem that could not be overcome with different self-closing hinges, and explained that I'd be redrilling holes for the new hinges and patching the old holes, if I wanted self-closing hinges. She was straightforward in letting me know my options and that the plan I walked in with wouldn't work. As someone who renovates houses fairly often, I want to point out, in response to some other reviews I've read, that communication in the construction industry is very direct. Either something works or it does not. Either a product is available or it is not. I usually replace existing cabinetry and have been learning as I go trying to keep this original cabinetry. This woman's feedback was a huge help to me. Most contractors don't spend a lot of time trying to put these things delicately to people, and that is who the workers at this hardware store primarily deal with. So I would not discourage anyone from going to Maverick. I would just encourage the average homeowner to keep in mind that you might get a direct answer that what you have in mind for your project won't work, and to know that such an answer is not personal or a sign of poor character on the part of the person serving you. For selection and expertise regarding cabinet hardware, I think Maverick is a great option. read more

I'm a contractor in Eugene, not retail. This company is so hit or miss for if you get spoken to or treated like an actual human being. The woman at the front counter is a bit abrupt with her responses and questions, like she's always in a rush to get you to leave, but she's generally pretty friendly - chalk it up to just being very straightforward and not being in the hospitality industry. The gentleman who answers the phone, though, is the actual worst customer service I've received in my decade+ of small business interactions. I've called ~5 times in the last month looking for direction in hardware solutions for my cabinetry, as well as for handles & router bits & been hung up on by this guy. If you don't have a part number, he WILL NOT do anything but say "I can help you" and hung up on you. Pretty crappy way to treat someone who'a business you want, after you've chided them for buying hardware somewhere else. It's a shame that the people at Jerry's will take the time to say "I'll help you solve this - I have ____ slides/hinges/hardware", but the actual hardware supply store won't. read more

They are very knowledgeable and have experience with the latest and greatest technology which helps me to be more profitable and look good to my customers. 2. I call ahead and no matter who I talk to, they always get my order ready for me in a timely fashion for me to pick up. 3. They can assist me when I am doing an unusual project that requires some specialized hardware. 4. Maverick Hardware has fair pricing and is always trying to help me to be profitable on my projects and never do they upsell me on items I really do not need. Every time I call, some here is able to help me with cabinet drawer parts. I can relay what I am looking for, even if I am not sure, and they can ask me the right questions so that I can get the correct parts. They do get busy and sometimes I have to wait a little bit, but I have never had an issue with their help or knowledge to get me the parts I need for my job. read more

I came in for help because of bracket mount. The person said I needed to bring in the track. Drove home and got it. S ales person said she would help me, proceeded to disappear, and answer to lengthy phone calls before she went to find someone who could help. Another person slowly came out, and was of no help. Maybe they treat contractors better, but if you just need to find some parts for cabinets for your own home, expect to be ignored and treated poorly. read more

If there was a zero star rating they would get it. I brought in my cabinet door with the mounting plate so they had the entire assembly to work with. He made the selection of hinge based on a call to the manufacturer. When I went to pick up the hinge I brought the door with me again for comparison, and the replacement he ordered would have moved the door away from the cabinet. Not acceptable. Instead of looking at the problem and trying to find another solution, he got mad, called me a name, said I took up 2 hours of his time (20 minutes actually confirmed by my wife who was waiting for me in the car) told his salesman to give me my money back, told me to get out and don't come back. Really nice, since I didn't have anything to do with the selection of the hinge. read more

We are in the middle of a major remodel so needless to say we are spending a lot of money. We stopped at Maverick a couple of weeks ago to look at drawer pulls and saw a couple we were interested in but didn't have time to find info about them, so we returned on 3/4 to find prices and order them. The "help" was less then the word means...very distant and we felt like we were a bother to them. When we finally got a guy to help us and get prices, another customer came in and he just dropped us and started helping the other gentlemen. It went on until I stepped in and complained and FINALLY a young woman found the info we needed. The man's excuse for dumping us was he wanted to help the guy who came in. I believe it's because of our demographics...I'm in a wheelchair and my wife is a short woman that gets overlooked. It was very disrespectful and demeaning. I see this isn't the first complaint of this very nature for this company, so I can only assume they don't give a damn about how they treat customers, so I guess nothing will change. However, I will be telling my contractor not to purchase anything from them and I will tell EVERYBODY I know about this experience. This really is a shop for professional cabinet shops & woodworkers. Unfortunately the people who wrote the above negative reviews are not the target demographic for this store (a store cannot be all things to all people). Maverick is properly set up for and stocked for professionals. If you are in the cabinetry industry (or a serious hobbyist) you will truly appreciate Maverick. Very low prices (better than any of the big box stores), excellent selection and people who know way more about cabinet hardware then is necessary. read more

We were directed to Maverick by a salesman at Jerry's, a local big-box home products store that's like a Home Depot on steroids; nonetheless, they don't handle everything well and we appreciated the suggestion that we shop for our cabinet hinges at Maverick, and at first, I was really glad that we did. As time went on, however, my rating of this business has had to be modified downward. I now can see why another reviewer gave Maverick Hardware only a one-star rating, but the sales person who helped us was real nice gave us excellent directions and advice, and in all ways treated us well. We also thought he answered our questions accurately, but came to find out that he had not. We bought over $350 worth of hinges on the first visit, but after installing them went back to see if there was a way to make the doors close more slowly. The salesman sold us some devices that worked for that purpose, but on a third trip back to the store I learned there were hinges that were self-closing, that didn't need the extra devices, and that actually took up less room. It would have been nice to have known about these products before we spend a bundle on the first hinges, etc. We ended up replacing them with the better products and, because of their strict no-return policy, we were stuck with the other hinges, etc. Not only that, but when ordering the new hinges, I misunderstood the salesman and bought twice as many hinges as I needed for the project! Again, because of their uncompromising no-return policy, we now have a huge supply of Euro hinges we'll have to try to sell on eBay. Unfortunately, aside from the big box stores, this may be the only game in town for cabinet hardware. Caveat emptor! read more
