Jamie comes off as genuine and trustworthy, but it became apparent quickly that something was off when multiple of his team came to me during the job because he wasn't paying. I confronted Jamie and he assured me he would get his team paid, but also asked for more money for the job. Even though I worked with Jamie to help him and gave him more money for the job, multiple team members walked off the job and were either not paid at all or half paid. After the job was finished Jamie owed me a deposit of $1000 for another job that was not started. He has not answered any of my calls or texts to return the money. It is extremely disappointing to see someone take advantage of clients and staff that are trying to help. Do not trust Jamie or Maverick Painting. read more

Let me preface this review by saying the actual painters that work at Maverick Painting are good people. Chris, the superintendent is fantastic. The owner of the company, Jamie, has NO idea what good customer service is about. His approach is "one and done", getting paid and making a quick exit. We hired Maverick Painting to paint our two story home, as one part of several parts to our exterior yard remodel which included about 2000sf of special order pavers. As part of the painting process the paint crew taped masking paper to the new pavers to prevent drips from getting on the pavers. They were very careful not to get paint on the pavers; again Chris is a good guy. After the painting was completed, they removed the masking paper and tape as part of their clean-up. A few days later we noticed that glue from the painters tape started showing up as dust stuck to the glue. I contacted Jamie and told him what had happened and asked that he send someone back to clean up the glue because we needed to seal the pavers, and couldn't do so with the tape glue on it. His response was..."Gonna be a while. He is in the middle of job. Sorry." He then went on to say the company sealing the pavers should clean the glue because they have to clean the pavers anyway. Basically saying the other company should figure out how to clean the mess that his company created. He then stopped replying to my texts even though I told him I would file a complaint with the BBB. He truly doesn't care about the job once he gets paid. As another reviewer stated, good luck trying to get them to come back to fix something. Their website specifically states "Unlike large paint companies and national chain companies, Jamie is on-site at every job. Most local contractors just drop off materials to a crew and only return to collect a check.", which is hilarious as you'll see from the attached screen shot of a text conversation between us. Essentially, he sent me a text asking me to give a progress payment check to the superintendent, which I readily did, only to have Jamie stop by get the check from the Superintendent and leave. He never checked in with us, even though we had discussed meeting with him at some point to discuss accent paint options. I never saw him on site during our two week project, and I work from home so I definitely would have seen him walking around and checking things out. He cares about getting the job and collecting a check. Jamie is the contractor with a crappy attitude who acts like he's doing you a favor by painting your house. Do yourself a favor, you paint our house once every 20 years, make it an enjoyable experience and memory. There are much better paint companies out there. read more

I have tried for over a month calling left 2 messages and 4 texts and complete avoidance. The owner, Jamie, came every day to our house when his crew was working, personally buying and dropping off the materials. This was key in our getting the correct color on our house. The color which I ordered ended up being too light. Based on conversations between Jamie and myself, he realized this. He and I went to the paint store together and were able to convert the paint from the color I ordered to the color that I really wanted. Jamie & his crew were the ultimate professionals; courteous, on time, thorough, informative, friendly, and did a fantastic job for a fair price. He even went so far as to correct imperfections left by the last painters in areas he wasn't even asked to paint! He knew of techniques another painter didn't, like how drywall splatters are water based and can usually be wiped down quite easily. He chose to have his crew roll the paint on our ceilings to insure best quality instead of spraying (which another painter was going to do). Even his more labor intense job was the lesser of the bids. He takes great pride in his work and was present multiple times every day unlike the previous company we'd used where he only came back to collect payment at the end. Jaime appears to be a nice enough guy and his team of painters work hard and are professional, but his follow through and workmanship was lower then expected, especially when considering that I paid $2K more than the next highest bidder to have my interior patched up and painted. Although he claims that there is a 3 year warranty, don't expect follow through after you make your final payment. When my paint job started only one guy showed up and he explained he was short staffed. This lasted for several days and then another person finally showed up to assist. This delayed completion of the job an additional week. Also, we did a complete walk through for the bid and he knew the condition of the house when putting in the bid but once the job started and I paid my deposit he later recommended that I skip trowel my ceiling for additional money. My confusion here is why didn't this come up when he did the first walk through and why was it not included in my initial bid? Answer is simple, he wanted the business and recommended it after he was 75% complete with my house, which left me with little choice but to accept the nickel and dime tactics. Also, in the final days of work with a skeleton crew his painters were showing signs of fatigue and in the last day, which was a Friday, they were scrambling to get the job done. I wasn't pressuring them, as I wanted the job done right, but it appears Jaime was. I get a call Friday evening from work that Jaime would like to do the final walk through, but here is the catch. He kept his worn out 2 man crew there to witness the walk through which put pressure on me to rush through the house and I could see that my payment was necessary to get them paid for the weekend. Long story short, I gave Jaime my final payment trusting that if anything was wrong he would honor his warranty. Well I contacted him and he told me several weeks ago he would send someone over, which hasn't happened. There were several areas of the house where cracks were supposedly patched that began to show through immediately, where paint was unevenly applied, where paint was not applied at all, places where patch work was needed but was just painted over. Bottom line, I chose Maverick because of the Yelp reviews and paid a premium assuming I would get better quality service. This in my opinion did not materialize and I feel that I over paid for rushed work. read more

Whole crew came and painted the entire interior of the larger-than-average one-story house and completed the job days earlier than estimated. Jamie is a perfectionist and catches not just the details you think of but many many more (like caulking seams and getting paint shades just right for our ceiling inset). Our "new" home was 10 years old and thanks to Maverick Painting, it looks no different than a brand new model home by the ritzy builders down the road! Jamie does work on high-end gazillionaires and local homeowners like us and treats us no differently from the gazillionaires. They delivered quality work, my husband and I are very happy, especially this being the first home for my husband and I. Jaime does a great job describing the process of painting and his team completed the job a couple of days early. However, he is somewhat difficult to work with and while I respect that he did not want to deliver on services he felt he could not complete, I do not respect him first stating he can do it and then going back and forth about it. Unfortunately, we never had our doors painted as was originally planned and worst was that he scratched some of the doors to demonstrate that they were painted poorly by the previous owners, so now I am left with scratches on my doors :( read more

Our kids attended the same elementary school and we thought Jaime was a decent guy, so we didn't check reviews or get others opinions. Mistake...His workers were good but he didn't spend even one hour at our house total during the job. He didn't do a walk through and consequently left some cabinet hinges unpainted, left all the trash from paint prep which said in his contract they haul away. The worst of his job was that he stained a wooden gate for us that came out a horrible orange color he said he could match to our front door. Then he claimed his work was done. I don't know but if it was my company and my work I would make it right. He argued with us over getting the stain right until we decided it wasn't worth it to have him around. I had several bids and I felt comfortable with Jamie and the price of the bid. I ended up having to leave town and was anxious since I was not home. From the start, Jamie was very professional and spoke about the differences in his painting company and the work they do. Our color palette was a little different, but they helped us throughout the process. The crew that was there painting were great. They were friendly, professional and worked their butts off. In order to complete the project, they even came and worked on Saturday and Sunday. When Jamie came to do the final inspection, he wasn't happy with some spotting on one wall. He scheduled a crew member to come back out on Monday to add another coat. The house looks great and we are really happy with the way it looks. From the start with the quote all the way through to invoicing, the professionalism and customer service was outstanding. This review is overdue and should have been posted a few months ago, I apologize for not being timely. Contracted with Maverick to paint the exterior of my house. Generally, the crew did a good job painting both stucco and wood. There was a paint color mistake made, but it was resolved. There were several cracked roof tiles as a result of the job that they claimed was not their fault. After a roofer inspected the broken tiles, it was obvious that the tiles were recently cracked and damaged. Jamie made it right and replaced/installed the tiles using a roofer. Always on time, extremely courteous and committed to the work. The paint job itself was done beautifully, clean lines, uniform sheen, no patches or bumps. They even cleaned up the baseboards to give it a clean finish. His crew were so mindful, that they made sure to remove the masking on the stairs between work days so that I wouldn't trip and fall (I am 8 months pregnant). It is these small things that make a big difference. We didn't need to move the furniture, they did it themselves, and put everything back in place after completing the job. Overall a positive experience with Jamie and his 2 man crew that completed our exterior house painting project which included stucco/wood fascia, wrought iron, and wood trellises. Initial response when looking for an estimate was immediate and his bid was very competitive. After the contract was signed and deposit given communication became harder. Initial projected date for job start was 2-3 weeks from deposit but they did not start until 7 weeks later. The delay was not the issue, it was more the lack of communication and explanation that was frustrating. The whole project turned out great but I learned on final walk through that he did not use the super paint I requested (again, communication breakdown). Jamie did stop by the house everyday to talk to his crew and expects professional results from his workers. They did an extra bit of painting at the last minute on some window frames that was not in the original bid without complaint or cost. Chris and George were easy to work with, neat and polite. Jamie's crew did a great job on our two story house in Cardiff. The crew power washed and re-stained all the exterior wood eaves, fascia, under hangs, wall caps, stair rails, and pergola.
