My experience with Stubbins Painting was excellent. I bought a home about 2.5 years ago with some light discoloration on the front exterior of the house. Over time, since that side of the house gets blasted by the sun, the discoloration has become more noticeable. I called Stubbins last Thursday to ask for a quote. I spoke with Mike A, who also gave me his cell. I sent him photos of what I needed painted, and he answered a million questions from me about the difference between staining and painting and how the pricing would be affected. I agreed to go with Stubbins on Friday. By Monday, Mike A had sent a team to color match the paint needed, and by COB, had completed the project. The front of my house now looks gorgeous! This review is regarding the consultation only; no work was performed. Phil provided a quote over the phone for repainting one wall due to uneven texture. For an orange peel or knockdown texture, he quoted $750 in labor and recommended an additional $650 for a full retexture. For skim coating he quoted $3,800. When I said that was outrageous, he responded that it was a mistake and revised the quote to $1,800. We ultimately hired someone else who completed the job for significantly less. read more

We contracted with Stubbins Painting for an exterior home paint project in Apr/May-26 and had an interesting experience that was ultimately more bad than it was good. Following a full property walkthrough, the company provided a bid that we later accepted. We then opted for a higher quality paint (+ upcharge) in writing that was confirmed by Stubbins before painting began. A few frustrating developments emerged over the 5-day duration of the project: - Stubbins employees expressed several times that they erroneously underbid the project. Curiously, they then cited a minor part of the project out of scope (3 metal railings) and quoted an exorbitant rate to fold them into scope (~$800). You can put 2-and-2 together to see that this was an attempt to recover some of the underprice. We negotiated down some, but the move still did not sit well with me. - Stubbins used the incorrect lower quality and cheaper paint for about half of the first layer before I was able to come out to verify/rectify (we were not informed when painting began). Instead of doing the right thing - buying the higher quality paint and providing 2 layers - they only deployed the better paint for the second layer. - Now ~3 months out from project completion, it appears that only 1 layer was applied to certain parts (front retaining walls). There is already some peeling back to the original color, and it is disheartening to see that it looks like shortcuts were taken to expedite the job. - No trenching was completed (despite being in contract scope). This has led to a pretty material problem - some of our ground cover plants were painted over. The issue here is that because they were painted over, they grew under the paint and pretty rapidly eroded it away. - Relatively small complaint here, but the contract clearly stipulated that the painters would remove all waste from the site after completion. Upon completion, the foreman told me he couldn't take all the trash because his car was full. Quite literally left us "holding the bag." It wasn't all bad. We enjoyed working with Roman. The foreman wasn't a bad guy despite the above mentioned issues. Most of the body of the house was well done. But now we are 3 months out from completion of the project and I'm sort of wishing that we just opted to go with someone else. Probably wouldn't call them back for the next job. read more

I really didn't want to write this review as the owner is very nice and easy to work with. However I continue to find issues weeks later that cannot be overlooked. We had the entire interior repainted and we're not told until the first day of the job that we could not stay in the home and had to scramble to find a hotel (for 7 people), which was fine, we dealt with it. At first glance the paint job was fine. However after they left I found some terrible, messy spots that they clearly rushed and didn't prep or paint correctly. They came back to fix it, but I could not be there to babysit, and despite me sending pictures and marking the places that needed refinishing they did not fix it all. Now weeks later I am still finding messy spots. Also, they did not sheet anything to protect it. Our pantry door was painted and there is a film of paint over everything in there. I think if you can be in your home to micro manage the crew they are probably fine, but, if you are busy like me and wanting the job taken care of quickly and without incident I would look elsewhere. read more

I recently had the soffits and fascia boards painted on my single-story home, and I'm very pleased with the results. The Stubbins Painting crew did an excellent job with preparation and cleaning, and they were professional and courteous throughout the process. They offered a competitive price, and I feel I received great value for the money. They also used the high-end paint brand and type I specifically requested. The team addressed the issues I had originally pointed out to the estimator, Roman, who was very communicative and provided excellent follow-up before the job began. Oscar, the on-site project manager, maintained great communication with me during the entire process, which I really appreciated. The only small suggestion I would make is that it would have been helpful to be told ahead of time that I might need to clean the outside windows afterward. The power washing under the eaves and fascia that they did left water streaks on all of the windows from the residue draining down from above. However, that was an easy fix and I cleaned all of the exterior windows myself. Maybe it would have been worth a couple hundred bucks extra on the quote for Stubbins to have window cleaners come out after the job was completed. I paid a small fortune to have the entire interior and ceiling of my home painted. I also had the kitchen cabinets and cabinets in the house repainted as well. The crew was at my home for almost 2 weeks. When I came back, I was surprised to find overspray damage throughout my house, including my new appliances! This includes my new fridge, my new washer/dryer, and microwave, and my newly installed faucets. Also, my dining set and kitchen dining set were ruined due to overspray. They did not properly mask and protect my belongings! I communicated these issues to the owner Mike and there has been nothing done to address the damage to my home and furniture. Needed the fake shutters on both sides of our front facing windows on the second floor painted due to wear (after a nice notice from the HOA). Not sure if any company would do it since it was such a small job. Called Stubbins and talked to Mike. He said that their foreman would do it for free as long as we provided the paint! So I found this cute little studio that was a bit rustic and really needed a paint job. I started calling around I was getting really large quotes. Mike Ali from Stubbins Painting left me a very professional and genuine message, and called me to give me a very reasonable quote. His schedule was super full, so he recommended how to search for good painters. I was able to find someone in my price range, Mike told me if I needed any help to contact him. The quote that I had received from a different company did not include paint. I had a friend who had some extra paint, but I thought he couldn't find it, so I contacted Mike, and because he knew that the paint was out of my budget just out of the blue, offered to supply my paint. Stubbins was a mixed bag for me...they did a complete interior and exterior paint job after a whole house remodel. Their price was on the higher side and based on the reviews I was expecting a high quality paint job. But I got a lot of over spray, poor coverage & paint spots on my brand new floors & pavers.
