Yesterday, I got to work and realized my right front tire was flat. The stem was leaking. What a drag. I called Mavis, and Anthony told me I could drop it off after work and it would be ready first thing in the morning today. Great. I was the first person in the store, Anthony took my keys, brought my car around back, changed the spare and put the fixed wheel back on, put the hubcap on as well, put the spare away, and came back around, all FOR NO CHARGE!! Had a 10:00 appointment for an oil change. Waited for 10 mins for a person to come out to registration desk and check me in. The person who came out to area checked me in and told me it would be about 40 mins. I waited until 12:00 then went up to desk and again waited for someone to come out to help me. Finally a person appeared and told me they were just taking my car in for the service. He told me bc I waited so long I wouldn't be charged....ok so they were trying to make amends. I asked this person how long would it take for this simple oil change and was told it would be 1/2 hr. Now it was 12:15 and I've been there for over 2 hrs. With nothing else I could do I sat down and waited and waited. Going back up to desk and you guessed it, were repeatedly told 5 mins, etc etc. I waited and finally my car was serviced and I left at 1:30 !!! 3 1/2 hrs after my scheduled appointment time. I know this is very lengthy but what I don't understand is why have people make appointments if they're only going to be waiting hrs to get the service requested?? Was it bc I was a woman and all the other people waiting were men????? I hate to think that's the case but what else could it be? You have lost a repeat customer and you can rest assured I will tell anyone I know to avoid Mavis like the plague! read more

These guys provide great service and quality work. Most importantly, I trust them. They have done numerous jobs for me, all to my satisfaction. Once my car was running very poorly, and I had little choice but to bring it to the nearest shop. I was given an exorbitant quote that made absolutely no sense. I was there 4/5/22. A TPMS valve gone bad (2nd time)...Alignment was off. Dennis looked it up...and discounted the cost of the TPMS in one tire. The Alignment???Well when Juan was there, they did it, and the steering wheel is a inch and a half off. I told them today. After 4 hrs. it was done. But no better on alignment...so i was told to come back Thursday when 'the boss is in'...Well thats 2 days lost work for me!!!On scheduling: no they cant honor a appointment; it all depends what the cars before you had wrong and often there's additional things nobody saw...like a broken bolt from somebody else. walking distance to deli next door. This is probably the absolute worst place you can take your car. My car has come back with constant problems. They didn't fix things they said they fixed, there is ZERO communication and an overall lack of urgency to get work done. The list goes on and on. I now have to take my car to a new place to be fixed the right way. Stay away from this place at all costs!!!! read more

Arrived a little couple of minutes after 2 for a 2p appointment (I apologized for being late) and was greeted by a very nice gentleman (he calls himself "The Fixer") and I can see why. He has a very nice demeanor, pleasant & articluate. Who took my info, looked me up in the computer & had my car in by 2:18p! Wow, what a difference from their other store in Pawling, NY, where they make you feel like they're doing you a favor while you wait two hours and your car still isn't in for a tire change (summer to snow). The Cold Spring store waiting area is warm (heat is on)on a wintry mix day outside, comfortable chairs, tv lightly playing in the well lit background. Done by 3:25pm. Customer comes first here. I would have appreciated a little notice of their price increase (from $10 a tire to $20 per tire) but the store manager made it right. read more

On March 31, 2017, I visited Mavis Discount Tire at the Cold Spring, NY location. An oil and filter change was performed on my vehicle. What I found afterward was that the technician, while performing the oil service, lost my oil cap, and instead of replacing it, took it upon himself to install this rubber gasket. Note that he placed a dime in the gasket to prevent the oil from spraying out. Keep in mind that I have been a steady customer for years with Mavis, and recently the Cold Spring location. All my vehicles get serviced there. The question I have is, even if Mavis resolves this issue, how do I go back to the Cold Spring location (or any Mavis location)? How do I trust that my vehicles will be serviced properly or that the technician won't further damage my vehicles. By the way, the oil cap was found wedged between the windshield wiper container and the sidewall. read more

Went to Mavis yesterday in a Cold Spring, previously (Putnam Tire), had to get an oil change and inspection, excellent experience, manager Jonathan professional and knowledgeable, rotated the tires as he advised to maintain good and even ware and tear and increase longevity of tires. In and out in 40 minutes, had not been in to Mavis in a while as the prior staff not very nice and wait was too long. Maritza was tech, knowledgeable young lady and very professional. Brought my wife's truck in for a routine oil change. Came back from food shopping to see my wife's truck was already in lot, (40 minutes). Wife drove truck back home (2 miles). Truck died and all lights on dash were on. Turns out Mavis didn't refill oil into motor. Blown engine. After initially trying to deny they were responsible, Mavis manager Mike Lopez admitted motor was damaged and had a knock as a result of Mavis negligence to put back oil. After sending estimate from my mechanic to perform engine replacement (with warranty), Mavis manager went with a cheaper estimate. Now, after receiving back my wife's truck, check engine light is constantly flashing. Has rough idle and smells like rotten eggs. Wife is afraid to drive since truck may break down at any moment (not good on highway). Mavis manager Mike Lopez of Cold Spring Mavis stated it was an electrical issue (even though they removed engine and replaced with junk motor). Apparently, this has occurred multiple times with other customers as well. Stay away. Currently they are being investigated by DMV complaints bureau. Will update moving forward. read more

I came here as a returning customer for a NYS Inspection. I made an appt. several weeks in advance because my schedule only allowed for quick inspection. The guy on the phone assured me I would be in-and-out and I wouldn't have to wait long. Terrific! When I showed up, I was told I didn't have an appt. The front desk attendant attempted to look me up in the system, I let him know that they have my first and last name spelled incorrectly (as I kept my last invoice) and he should probably look me up by my phone number. After a couple minutes of him attempting to find me by name, he finds me under the phone number, and then makes it a point to tell me that the name I gave him was different than what they had in the system... uh... NO KIDDING DUDE. He was about to correct my account, when he reiterated that I did not have an appt and it would be over an hour wait before my car could even be taken. Really?!? So, as a courtesy to a return customer, you won't honor my appt. that YOUR employee obviously messed up in the first place?? That's outrageous. I should've been moved to the front of the line and all of the walk-ins should have to wait. Not a customer with an appointment! I've had an inspection here before and had a great experience, today I was so disgusted by the lack of apology and overall disregard for the customer. I turned around and walked out. HERE'S A TIP: Don't make appointments for people if you can't manage an organized calendar, and make no attempt honor actual appointments. A little customer service goes a looooooong way. After spending $1200 on work yesterday, replacing all 4 tires and new brakes (at the suggestion of their staff) our 2 front tires blew out while driving on 84. I was blamed for the situation only to find out the tires were installed incorrectly. We towed the car to another Mavis to have this confirmed and the tires replaced. Driving back on 84, the tire pressure goes off. We stop back at this location to find out the tires have been installed incorrectly again and were about to pop. Following 3 attempts to resolve this with Mavis themselves, our car is now at another auto shop to be repaired all over and no refund from the negligent work. If you've got more time, our full issue and what we conveyed in person and to their management team is below. On 3/17, my husband took his car in for an oil change. Service was good, things seemed to be handled easily enough. Following this service, we took my car in on 3/18. I received a call from the store manager, Jonathan, indicating that all tires needed to be replaced as well as rear brake pads. I am 9 months pregnant with my first child and immediately agreed to all the work recommended totaling just under $1200. My husband and I took the car out less than 24 hours later. While on the Highway, we could feel the turn radius was off with the car and pulled over to find both front tires completely deflated. I called the store where the tires and work were purchased from and was immediately blamed that I must have hit something. I asked what could be done, knowing we had not run anything over. Jonathan told me I needed to find the nearest Mavis Location and he would see if there was anything he could do. Due to COVID restrictions and being pregnant (we also had our injured dog with us) we couldn't just hop in the tow track. After being stranded, a friend picked us up and drove us to Mavis in the middle of a work day. We made our way to the New Milford location. Again, the person at the front desk insisted I must have run something over or something else happened. We are waiting outside as no one could give us a time estimate or any information (understandable, it was unexpected). While waiting outside the tech comes out, looks at the tires and within seconds knows what's wrong. He goes back inside and brings out two additional techs to show them what's wrong, almost like he was training them in a "want not to do". The tech informed me that the front two tires were installed incorrectly and never properly fixed to the rims. I called Jonathan back to inform him and get assurance this would be taken care of. His immediate response was "well how was it installed wrong?". Not necessarily my area of expertise...so I asked him to reach out to the store. Jonathan calls me back and informs me that the tires "were not sealed correctly" and assured me they are getting fixed. Several hours later, I get a call that the car is ready. We go pick it up, tires seem to be okay and 30 minutes into our drive back the tire pressure light goes off AGAIN and the Cold Spring location is on our way. We stop off to speak to the manager AGAIN. He checks the tire pressures tells us "the valves were installed incorrectly". I'm a neurotic, soon to be first time mom who just wants to bring her new kid home in a car whose two front tires aren't going to blow out. Jonathan tells me he can give me $100. The Regional Manager, Dominic, happens to be at the location. After regaling him with this super fun story AGAIN, he tells me they will fix the two valves and compensate for the "labor" on the two front tires. During this time, Jonathan changes his story and claims the lack of sealed tires isn't the issue. It all started to make sense as when the second manger had called he told me the tech gave me "false information" and that it wasn't really a sealing issue. It was now apparent the bad work was attempted to be covered up. We were told we we're unreasonable for asking for a refund, we tell him it's unreasonable to expect we could pay for work that is clearly not been done right twice. He accused us of being unrealistic and walked off. My husband called him back asking to find a solution. He agrees to refund the two front tires/labor for roughly $345. An unsatisfactory solution given that we've lost all this time, trust and are paying for a new place to fix the work. I've never had issues with this car and am now nervous to take it anywhere. My husband tried to highlight how serious the issue was and that the negligent work could have "killed my wife and child". The managers response was "well that didn't happen". We asked for a different contact to rectify the situation and we were refused. Multiple times Management said they wished something like this didn't happen. This is concerning because it NEVER should happened, let alone twice. read more

Went there yesterday to get truck inspected,they told me the person doing inspections wasn't there and would be back Sunday. Seems little weird that only one person does inspections. So fine went there sun got there early only to be told the person quit and inspections are not going to be done till new person was hired . The manager quit FYI his name was Brian great person who ran the place very well, to bad you lost him! I blame this on upper management I live in town and will never go there again ! My husband went here a few times for an oil change when they were Putnam Tire and was always happy with the service. He sent me there shortly after it became Mavis and I was impressed with the quick and courteous service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and will definitely be back in the future. I called there yesterday only to find out Dennis is no longer there, I used him while he was at 3 different Mavis locations, Brewster, New Milford, and Cold Spring. Most people know him as the the big guy with the beard. He was always honest and very professional. I know he was not treated well, and I will find out where his new job is, over the years I referred many customers to him, and I am contacting them to know he is no longer there and many have already said they will take their business elsewhere. They suck, made an appointment to get 4 tires done 3 days in advance. When I show up to at my scheduled time they say for some reason the order for the tires was cancelled. They can't get them for the day of my service. What a waste of my day. The manager kurt told me he would have them by the end of the day I scheduled the service (3 days in advance). What's the point of making an appointment if, when you show up on time for your appointment, they make you wait for an hour and a half before they have a space for your car.
