Came in for a new tire since I had an unexpected flat, also had an oil change done since my car needed it. I knew walking in what tire I wanted and that their website said it was in stock. No sakes pressure or anything like that. Fast, friendly service, clean bathroom (they have separate men's and women's bathrooms) and a few waiting areas inside the store. read more

Went here to have a tire repaired due to a slow leak. Besides having to wait well over an hour to have someone look at it to repair it, I am very satisfied with how they went about the repair. The repair consisted of a plug and inside patch repair and Tire/rim was rebalanced after the tire was remounted. Preferred method. They also rotated all my tires. There was no fee for this service because I had the road hazard coverage on two of my four tires. One of which was the one with the screw in it. I usually go to the Goodyear service center near by but my car came with Firestone Firehawk tires on it. Last year at this time, I had to replace the two tires due to the freggin pothole minefields on long island that blew one of my tires and gashed another. I had purchased two replacements here with the road hazard warranty. I highly recommend road hazard coverage for any tire costing more than $100.00! You will be using it around here sooner or later, not even kidding. Another observation, Goodyear still has a minimal charge to have slow leaks and flats repaired even if you have a road hazard warranty! Not sure why but Mavis tire doesn't charge and even did the tire rotation for free. read more

Beware. Tried to sell me an alignment on a ficticious premise of uneven tire wear. My right front tire had exactly 9 miles on it and my left front 32 miles. Both from flat tires replaced by the dealer a week apart. After he tried to convince me I informed him I was in the auto business and in fact there was no uneven tire wear. Period. If you are looking for honest car mechanics please look elsewhere. They could have warned me that my car inspection was going to fail by simply looking at my car because of a law passed in January for window tints. Instead, they took my money and failed my inspection for "window tints". MAVIS has lost a customer for life! read more

Very satisfied with new tire purchase and I did a lot of comparing between competition on pricing being as I knew exactly was Jeep tires I wanted. They also come with lifetime tire rotation so that's an added plus not having to worry about be up-charged when I get my oil change depending on where I go. I brought my wife's SUV in as one morning the pressure was low on 1 tires, thinking he had a slow leak I asked them check it out and plug it. After the checked it out the didn't find anything, filled it back up and sent me on my way with NO CHARGE. Very happy about that as time is money with places like that...p.s. nothing was wrong with the tire at all. Good front of the house staff, always been honest and upfront about things. If I could give 0 stars I still wouldn't. This place gets negative stars. I scheduled an appointment and an oil change online. I called in the morning to confirm the appointment. I brought the car in and what is normally suppose to be a half hour process at the most, I was told it would be a 3-4 hour wait even with an appointment. I was told to leave the car and so I did. 6 and a half hours later when the store is about to close, I called them because I have not heard anything. They told me it was next up and they called me back in 20 minutes telling me that they cannot do it today and can I leave the car in the lot overnight and they will get to it in the morning tomorrow. Is that standard procedure? Because his tone definitely made it seem like it was normal. I went to pick up my car because I'm going to get my service elsewhere, and was not met with the least bit of sympathy nor apology. This was by far the worst oil change that I almost got. I started using Mavis when I needed my car inspected and they got me in on a Sunday morning when I called Saturday night. They told me I needed new front tires soon but they would pass inspection now. There were other issues they COULD have said I needed to pass and I would have believed them, because I knew the car needed work. But they just made recommendations and passed my car. Then I started bringing my car there for repairs, and always got a good price and an HONEST repair job. Many times they told me things were optional that the GY competition across the street would have told me were completely necessary. Mavis has always been fair with their pricing, and I have never walked out of there feeling like I was taken for a ride. It's a good thing to have an honest car repair place that I can trust. read more

I'm a repeat customer and recently had new tires put on my car that I had pre-ordered on line. When I arrived at the shop, I was immediately greeted in a friendly manner, and the process was explained for me to understand what to expect with no surprises. My previous dealings with this location have been mostly tire repair or replacement of tires over the years when necessary and this is the first time we've had an alignment performed. Altogether the price was reasonable, although not much less expensive than the car dealer, however all work was done in a timely matter and to my satisfaction. Thank you! read more

SCAMS! Brought my car and my family's cars here for a very long time. Finally thought we had trust worthy people for oil changes, inspections, and little car issues. But out of no where we started to have problems with them. They'd say that I should get this or that fixed, meanwhile nothing was wrong. But this past weekend I noticed my car was leaking oil. Had a friend check it out, turns out my oil pan was busted. Mavis broke the oil pan. Brought it back, said they'd take care of it, tried to charge me 800$. No way in hell did I pay that or am allowing anyone I know to go back here. Broke my oil pan and expect me to pay for it ? Out of their minds. They just lost very good customers. read more

Was there for a tire check had the road hazard warranty had hit a garbage pail had a balance issue they could not balance the tire placed it in the back and lied about it ! Went back got fuck again ! Said to them I am moving to Florida driving the car make sure it is right been an Ford tech for thirty years they new that! Flat towed the car there had a blowout the first week! Tire was damaged internally ! They fuck me good ! I almost had a fist fight with the installer tipped him ten dollars when I went back the second time cause I went home and inspected the tire they did not even put any wheel weights on the tire and lied about it! I went in for winter tire swap/alignment/oil change. When my car was finished it was left outside unattended in the "on" position draining the battery. I figured stuff happens, so I took the car home, and the next day when the sun was finally up(december 2017) I noticed the logo on one of my rims was MISSING and the other logo's were loose. I had to drive back to store and pick up missing piece- luckily they still had it. I paid for an alignment and the car seems worse then before I brought it in. I am disgusted by the service I just received at the Mavis in Commack, NY. I brought my car in for two rear tires. They said it would be about an hour. I went to across the street for lunch and came back and they had my car up on the lift with the front and rear tires off and the hood open trying to up sell me everything from brakes to alignment. Then I had to wait while they put it all back together. There is no reason to take the front wheels off to change the two rear tires. I will never do business with Mavis again and and will recommend to anyone else I know in the area not to use this shop. There used to be a Precision Tune across the street from this Mavis that did business this way and they are no longer in business. Pretty sure that's the way Mavis is headed. read more

Went to Mavis on a thursday because I had a flat. Ok sounds simple enough right? Well the tire couldn't be fixed(what a surprise)...1 year old but ok whatever...so I agree to a new tire, they say come back next day and they'll have it...buttttt before I leave they want me to come and look at something(what a surprise)...turns out I have a power steering leak which was TRUE and I actually knew it was leaking...they say it's most likely the power steering pump. BUT, who asked them to check out my whole car??? I went for a tire and I never said do a complete inspection!! But these are their scam tactics. They do it to everybody to get more business of course, not that they're concerned about you. So anyway, I agree to have it fixed along with a new tire. Bring it in 8am Saturday and tell them you can have it ALL day no problem. I get a call a little later...it is the pump and oh your oil pan is also leaking, needs new gasket. Ok, do it all talk to you later. Well finally, as it's getting late and no call from them I finally have to call...ok come get it....So, I'm driving it home and the steering is tight and something's wrong. I go back and they test drive it and tell me oh it's probably something air blah blah...they have no clue...I leave it again, and a little while later I come back and they say oh defective pump, we have to get a new one and we don't have it. So I leave it there overnight so they can work on it sunday. Again, I leave it with them ALL day. They never call because they know that part isn't coming and it never did. Ok, now its sunday night, they have it 2 whole days, not fixed. Oh, can you leave it overnight they say. I tell them I work so of course not. But they tell me part is in route and they'll call me. So now I have to drive a car which is not SAFE!! Well, I finally called THEM Monday afternoon.....of course no part yet and I never heard a single word from them again. Am I supposed to keep chasing them? I don't think so. This place is terrible. It has a bunch of kids working there who aren't real mechanics. Everything's a scam. If you go to this place you need your head examined. I'm sure all Mavis are but this one for sure. read more

Rob the manager would not go out of his way for an 83 year old women with her tire going flat It appears the store closes at 6:00 pm and at 6:10 pm there was no flexibility to help an old women in distress. I made a 9:30am appointment to drop my car off for an oil change and inspection. I dropped the car off at 9:25am, had a friend pick me up to run some errands. At 11:15am when I returned they hadn't even brought the car in yet! The guy told me they'd bring it in right then and it would be about an hour. A good place to get a quick oil change, priced at about $20 for a 4 cyl. Considerably cheaper than those fast lube places which usually charge $50. Took about 20 minutes. On another trip I had them change a fuel filter, shopped around and they were a little cheaper. Not sure if I'd pick up tires there, wholesale clubs seem to have the better pricing. Good service, I'd go back for the small stuff. They have computer stations with power outlets, disappointed there was no wi-fi. read more

I had a very bad experience with this shop. My car just needs change new brake pads. the result? they charged me with $890.00. Can you believe that? Situation: my wife was about 50 miles away, She needed me to pick her up. my car could not start. Another car needed change brake pads. So I parked this one for a while. At this moment I didn't have any choice except this car. I was afraid that this would be a long drive on Highway. So I decided change the new pads anyway .I went to this shop. They checked the car and said my car had a lot of problems. Because my situation , I didn't have time to say no. This was my mistake that I agreed let them go ahead. They promised it would take one and a half hour. I left the car at 11 am. I did not heard from them until I called them. they called me back at 3 pm.and said the car is ready. Then I got a bill of $ 890.00. I check the worksheet. About 4 items, I don't even know what they are and even don't know if they really did those jobs. I had to pay because my wife was waiting 50 miles away in f 92 degree weather. At evening, my son heard my situation,.He was very upset. Because he already let Pepboys checked the car. The Pepboys guy said everything were OK . It just needed change the brake pads. And my son already made an appointment to change new pads in Saturday. Anyway I admit it is a very stupid mistake to sent the car there. but I really had no time and no choice. My comment: They are not the people you can trust, Keep away from this shop. NEVER go here. Wanted to get a simple oil change, so I called ahead and made an appointment for noon. I showed up at noon, and they tell me they lost my reservation - no problem, I decide to wait. I leave to go walk around the area and come back an hour later - my car still hasn't been touched. So I ask about how long it will be and they tell me I'm up next. Finally, they call me in and bring me out to my car. I think they're about to tell me I'm all set, and then they start going on about how I need new shocks. I tell them that I don't have time for that now that I've waited over an hour, so they tell me that's fine and it will be five more minutes. After over TWO HOURS, they finally tell me my car is ready, so I pay and leave. As soon as I start driving my car, I notice that it's making a noise almost like a bird chirping. So I call them, and they tell me to bring it back in right away. They inform me that the noise is coming from my heater and has NOTHING to do with them, even though it only MAGICALLY appeared after they had my car for two hours. They refuse to do anything about it unless I pay, talk to me like I'm a complete idiot, and proceed to be the most rude employees I have ever dealt with. Needless to say, I will NEVER be coming to this sorry excuse for an auto shop again. read more

I usually go to the Mavis in Islandia, which is excellent, but I needed to get an inspection done on my lunch hour and this was the closest location. NEVER AGAIN. Lesson learned, I assumed that I would get the same quality service I was use to at Islandia, but that was certainly not the case. I purposely made a reservation online to insure that I could get it done on my lunch. I arrived prior to my reservation time and waited 15-20 minutes before they even took my reservation slip, keys and vehicle information. I stressed that I was on my lunch break and was just going across the street and would be back shortly. When I got back 45 minutes later my car was still in the same parking spot. When I inquired as to if my car was done, or still waiting, I was responded to with a "well if it is still outside in the same spot, it probably wasn't done". I asked how much longer it would be as I had to get back to work, and I was told that they were very busy and I could try coming back tomorrow. I told them that I had a reservation to avoid this type of issue, and they told me that it was like making a reservation at a restaurant and my "waiting time starts when I come in" and that they couldn't "just hold a lift" for me because I made a reservation. In my opinion that is exactly what a "reservation" is, so that you do not have to just wait behind everyone else by just walking in. Terrible customer service and I will never take my vehicles there again for any service. I will be getting my inspection done by anyone other then these guys! read more
