Wow! Needed a tire plugged on a Saturday morning and walked in (from out of town) and the place was extremely busy. Within a half hour the plugged my tire and I was on my way. They did and I went right in, and because it only needed a small amount, there was no charge! This had happened to me there once before when I had a wiper problem. Yes you may have to wait a bit for your car to get done, but that's for a reason, a ton of people use this shop in the surrounding area. I came in recently to have a cracked manifold fixed on my undercarriage, shop down the street quoted me for over $150... so i needed to have a wheel alignment on my car it being an older car from 1967. i went in last week to make appointment and explain it is an older car . guy working front desk tells me to come in following monday at 8am in the morning. so on monday i drop car off at 8am as requested by employee. upon dropping off i explain car is old alittle difficult to start. i ask would you like me to explain to mechanic how to start. he says tell me, i will tell mechanic. so i did. fast forward !!! i get a call at. (4:30) 81/2 hours later. that is an hour and a half before they close they cant get my car started. so my car sat there all day and they call me an hour and half before closing that they cant get it started. what was purpose of making an appointment and why was it necessary to drop off at 8am if you werent bring it in. now i get the call i go down to shop who ever tried to start it had no idea how to because counter person did not let me speak to them. carburetor was flooded bad. so now i am at shop trying to start my car. at no point did counter person come out to say how is it going do you need help would you like a tow nothing. zero help. six oclock comes around they close up and leave never once approaching me. zero concern. talk about sleeze bag counter clerk and costomer service. i know they are going to respond with some bs excuse. but there nothing you can say about general concern for a potential coustmer who is on your property who was trying to get work done. you just close up shop . just leave and go home. once again sleeze move. read more

This place sucks. I brought my van in to have a misfire fixed and the guy says he's going to charge me $150 to just take out the engine cover located in the van to access the engine. I asked him if he ever worke on a van before and he started making all these excuses. What an A--hole! And a thief!! read more

I had gotten a flat fixed in the city just a short time before and they did it incorrectly, so it was flat again. I have been going to Smithtown General Tire for about 3 years now with two cars. Both are Toyota Highlanders. I have been treated with honesty, respect and good pricing. Auto repair is a business where you can easily get ripped off, but these guys are honest. They don't push additional services on you and their pricing is fair. I recommend them to all my friends in need if car repair. My latest issue was with an A.C. repair. It was done promptly and fairly. Now I have a problem with my battery (which is new) going dead every few days. I suppose I will have to jump it and bring it there for a quick and accurate analysis of what my problem is. I know electrical problems of this type can be costly and I will report further with an addition to this report with what they found and how it was fixed but I trust that it will be done quickly and reasonably. Tires and related. Lately I have been having tire issues - either picking up nails or, as happened the other night, slamming something on the highway and blowing out the tire. I was in dire need of a tire fix and hit Smithtown General early on a Saturday. Even though there were others ahead of me, I was able to get in and out of there in roughly 30 minutes and for under $30 bucks. Fast and friendly, they did what I needed done and had me on my way. I had my vehicle there for two weeks. I asked them to check the computer but they would not. I was told my engine seized. Turns out When I had it towed home, my husband charged it and it started. It's obviously not seized but my money was not returned. I was told to drive it for 100 miles and he'll give me my money back. He was not the nice guy who takes my money. I have just moved to the area and was looking for a good mechanic. I was referred to them by a co-worker who has been using them for years. My experience with them was great one. They are professional and easy going. They have a very nice and comfortable waiting are of you choose to wait. After a routine oil change I asked Bob the owner to listen to a noise that I have been hearing for awhile which he happily did. He figured out what the issue was within a few min and told me what I need and what the cost with parts and labor would be. I scheduled the work a few days later and it cost exactly what they said which made me happy. They did a great job with the repair and now the noise is gone and the car runs great.
