Went to Bobs with my brand new SL500 first thing in the morning.Bob and Jose inspected the tire right away. They recommended me replacing with new as the side wall of the tire was damaged considerably. Bob ordered from his wharehouse and he had it delivered within a half hour. I am very satisfied with the professional service I received at Bobs today.Bob and Jose were very knowledgeable,respectful and helpful.The price was fair as per market value.I will be recommending him to all my friends as my mechanic of choice. read more

I won't go as far as saying the work was bad , because they fixed the problem. However my first experience 6 years ago, it was raining, during COVID . I parked my car by the working bay , walked in and was greeted by a man who stated " by the hood and the masked , I thought you were coming to rob the place " Even though the symbols and insignias on the sweatshirt would imply the exact opposite. I merely waved it off and said " seeing that it's raining and we're both wearing masked , I don't know what you mean " However, due tot the scarcity of places open . I let them fix the car . Paid more than I'd liked to and never came back . One of the other guys there ( Sergio , I think)was super friendly and probably should stand in and let the other guy do other things . Local repair shop. Bob's is located on a busy road and is a small owner / operator service station - there aren't that many left out there. Fair prices, honest service and the guys there are not only honest, but a pleasure to deal with. I just bought a new car so won't be needing repairs anytime soon (I hope) but this is definitely the place to go if you do. They also sell gasoline. read more

Got home from work during the week and around 6:45pm I noticed by right front tire was just about flat. I called up Bobs Tire and Auto and he was closing soon but said he would wait if I lived near by. I live very close and brought it there. He had one of his workers fix my flat tire and not only did he fix and patch the tire but checked all air pressure in all the tires and was very friendly. I can't speak highly enough of this place. Top notch work done at honest prices. I've had a couple of not so small jobs done here in the past couple of months, including an engine swap, and I can't stress enough the high quality of work, the speed at which the car was turned around and the fairness of the price. Being someone who does almost all their own work on cars, I know the amount of labor and thought that has to go into a job in order for it to be done right. Bob worked with me as much as he could every step of the way, and that kind of, for lack of a better term, "giving a crap" is hard to find in a mechanic. Remember a good mechanic is not just someone who just turns bolts for a living but someone who cuts through the bullshit, troubleshoots the problem, then doesn't do a hack, half-assed job correcting it. 5 stars for a mechanic is unheard of. People know nothing about cars and always feel hosed when they get the bill. Well that's totally different than my experience at Bob's Tire and Auto. My story of why this place is the best is too long to post- suffice to say, they went above and beyond to save me money with my repairs. Went in to ask for a inspection and quote for a tune up. Guy at the front desk was shooting the breeze with someone and I guess was upset that I interrupted Him by inquiring about their services. On the drive home from picking up my car I kept saying "Wow". I have a 2002 Sebring and it drives like a new car. I can't speak highly enough about Bob's quality of work, fairness in price and the consideration in getting my car fixed as quick as possible knowing I was without a car. My car broke down while I was in Commack, 40 minutes from where I live and someone was watching over me that I ended up at Bob's. My tire blew out after I got a tire from this place not the one they installed but the other rear tire. He claims my car psi on cold weather can go up to 42 when the back are 35 and the from is suppose to be at 30 his mechanic put up the air pressure on all 4 tires at 42 driving a total of 6 mins on the highway I turned off the exit doing 30 and the tire bust open . Not only was that dangerous he swears it's not his fault. I had the same thing happen to me last year with another mechanic minutes after putting the tire pressure too high my tire exploded . I have low profile tires!! Not only was this the first time doing business with him for an oil change of 125 and a tire that he charged me 250 for I had to deal with this issue. Deserves NO STARS!!! My mothers power steering fluid leaked out at my house. We took it to Bobs because we love Jose (he is such a great guy) BUT when Bob got in he said it was going to cost 600 bucks to fix! He said he had to order the part from Ford and then this hose and that hose needed to be replaced, etc etc... My mother asked him exactly what was needed to do and he was offended that a WOMAN dared to ask him any questions. He was so rude to her that I called up ....but received the same treatment. I picked up the car and towed it to my mothers mechanic in Moriches....whom charged 300 for the same work!! Shame on you BOB! I will never go there again!!!! read more

Had been going to the same mechanic for years with no issues, but his shop closed. So figured I'd try this place. Just took it in fort an inspection and cost me close to $900. He tried to up sell me on everything from more expensive tires to high cost synthetic oil for a fifteen year old car. When I went in to pay for what he's already scammed me out of, he tried to talk me into replacing my riming belt to for another $650. Stay away from this place, far away. Now two weeks after paying him to "fix" the brakes the ABS warning light is on all the time. So he apparently screwed something up that was never a problem before, so I'm going to need to take it somewhere else and pay more to get that fixed because I'm sure not taking it back there. read more

I have been here to have work done on my Acura and could not be happier with all the work that they have done. I trust their opinion and admire their fairness. This shop offers exceptional service and peace of mind that you are not being taken advantage of. Bob took the time to test drive my car with me at length so I could pinpoint the issues and really prioritized what I needed done. The owner of this shop is very UNPROFESSIONAL and ABRASIVE. As a small business owner in Commack, you might think that he would treat his potential customers with "kid gloves" and courtesy. In the many years that I have resided in the area many people have had negative experiences with this shop. I thought that I would give him another try because I believe in shopping and utilizing services locally. I unfortunately had dealings with this establishment on several occasions for what started as a simple repair. I had no idea that I was being overcharged for sub par work until I went to a real mechanic. It cost me thousands to undo the damage this shop cost me with generic used parts and an inability to diagnose even the simplest problem. I would not trust them with an oil change. It is now obvious to me that the reviews posted are done by Bob and his family. I should of checked more than one source and I would of found many unfavorable ratings posted on all other sites. I have never taken the time to write a review for anything until I met BOB. Avoid at all costs!! read more

Let me preface this by saying I am only giving this one star because I have to in order to post. I brought my car into Bob's in October because my car wouldn't start. I should have had my car towed to my regular mechanic, but I was willing to give a local place a chance. The starter needed to be replaced. 8 months later, I brought my car in for an oil change, because I wasn't able to get to my regular mechanic. Bob called me and said I could come pick up my car. He called back 10 minutes later saying that he couldn't get my car to start and the starter needed to be replaced again. He said it was under warranty and he would replace it at no cost. He also told me that my timing belt and rear brakes needed to replaced (not true-I had my car inspected at my regular mechanic 2 weeks ago and they are fine). He called me later that evening saying my car was ready to be picked up. I came back to his station and his mechanic (nice guy) backed my car out of the bay, then my car died as he was getting out of my car. I tried to restart it and it wouldn't hold a charge. He said we should wait for Bob. 25/30 minutes later Bob returned, eventually got my car to start and took it for a drive. A few minutes later he returned, and as he got out of my car, I noticed a clanging noise, almost like someone playing the triangle. When I asked him what that noise was, he said "it's your air conditioning, your car is very sensitive". Not for nothing, I drive a luxury car and it has never made this kind of a noise before. He put blocks in front of my car and said since my car is sensitive it takes a while for it to relearn the idle. At this point, a friend of mine pulled up to get gas. He saw I was standing near my car, and he asked Bob what was going on. At this point, Bob refused to look at me or speak with me and walked away. Fast forward a month, and my car was intermittently making that triangle playing sound. I brought my car in for an inspection to my regular mechanic who said the starter needed to be replaced, and that the noise I was hearing was the starter hitting the flywheel. Even though the starter was under warranty I did not feel comfortable bringing it back to Bob's. My mechanic fixed it and gave me the starter back. He instructed me to bring the starter back to Bob so he could remove the core charger. My husband and I went to Bob's to have him remove the core charger of the starter so I could get reimbursed by my mechanic, and we wanted to be reimbursed for the astronomical amount he charged us back in October for the starter. Bob was not in the station--we tried 2x to speak with him, left our numbers and he never called us back. My husband stopped by there on his way home from work this evening and was ridiculed and yelled at by Bob and his wife. I have no idea how they stay in business, treating customers this way. He refused to remove the core charger or reimburse us for the cost of the starter. We were not asking for him to reimburse us for the labor. I will never return to Bob's Tire and Auto Service. read more
