From a Rough Start to a Positive Resolution I brought my vehicle to Mavis to have a rear wiper blade replaced. During the service, the technician removed the blade and the assembly broke immediately. I was told afterward that the part was "brittle" and that I would need to pay for the replacement. What was disappointing is that the wiper was working perfectly fine before I brought it in for service and only failed during removal. I've been going to Mavis for years, which is why this experience was especially frustrating. While I understand older parts can be fragile, I feel there should have been better communication upfront about the risk or more accountability for what happened during the service. Given that the wiper was fully functional before the service and failed immediately during removal, I expected some responsibility or goodwill adjustment from the shop. Because of this experience, I do not plan on returning to this location. I hope future customers are made aware when parts may be at risk during service so expectations are clearer. Review update After speaking with the team, Mavis agreed to replace the rear wiper arm assembly at no cost, and I truly appreciate them making the situation right. I've been a longtime customer, so it meant a lot that they listened to my concerns and worked with me toward a fair resolution. I called in the morning to confirm they could replace brake pads on the 2024 Colorado. They confirmed they had the parts. I drove 25 miles to this shop because "they could get it done today". I was instructed to drop it at 3:00 for an appt and it would be ready by 5:30. I have not received a call all day! I checked in after wasting time all day in the area only to find out they DID NOT HAVE THE PARTA AND CANNOT DO IT TODAY! I told them importance of this because my son leave for school the next day and wanted this done before he left and now we don't have time to get it done before he has to move in! Unbelievable. Called to get an oil change, rotation and balance for my car, had an appt at 5:00, when I got home my boyfriend checks its all, to make sure tires were rotated, wipe off any spots or dirt they left behind, and said the tires were never taken off. Made appt online two days in advance at 10 AM for annual inspection on a new car. When I arrived I was told that one car was being finished and I'd be next. I asked how long would it be and customer service person said 45 minutes. I left and returned 40 minutes later and my car was still waiting. Then I was told the actually in and out time is ususally 90 minutes. So eventually my 15 minute inspection took 1.5 hours due to the onsite waiting time. Won't return to this location. Don't come here unless you want to die from a mechanical failure induced car accident. I would never trust Mavis to work on my car ever again after they put my life in danger. I originally went to their Highland Creek location and spent $1600+ on brake services (including calipers, brakes, and rotors) as well as my struts, just to find out they left out a whole bolt out of my car, causing my caliper to move around and my brakes not functioning on one wheel. In addition to this, a bolt on my struts was loose and not secured properly. I knew something was still wrong immediately after my service because of a squealing noise I heard so I went to Mavis in Cornelius to get a second opinion and because I did not feel safe driving. After explaining the situation, Joe acted unprofessionally asking me "Would you like to fix other people's problems?" On top of poor customer service, they failed to catch the missing bolt, which caused further damage to my vehicle and was told I needed a wheel bearing replacement on the same wheel with the missing bolt (which I did for an additional 400) and the issue still persisted. Long story short: Mavis failed me not once but TWICE and put in me in a highly dangerous situation for months. My issues were never taken seriously until I provided photo/video evidence from an ACTUAL EXPERIENCED Hyundai mechanic. read more

I bought a German Car and wanted it serviced by a factory Certified Technician and to follow all warranty steps. In any case, car was up for Oil Change and State Safety Inspection and I could not get an appointment with my regular service center that matched with my wife's schedule. A few days after an oil change here, noticed oil drops on my garage floor. Called to set up a time for them to do a quick check since I suspect they reused the plug gasket or didn't properly replace the plug or tighten the filter, etc. "You can drop it off, but it could be a few hours until we get to it. Walked out of Mavis in Cornelius paying close to that for brakes, rotors, a brake flush, AND new wipers! They were honest with what services were needed and were not pushy. I had an alignment done here and when I left the wheel was off to the right. When I went back I purchased 4 new tires and asked for the alignment to be corrected. After they installed the tires they were out of balance so badly the truck shook violently at 60 mph and I had to go back again. The steering wheel was still not fixed and they said they couldnt fix it. It is a 2021 Chevrolet silverado and they could even get the alignment correct!! They installed the wrong tires as the person who ordered them entered the wrong part number. How do you not notice a MUD tire when its supposed to be an Allterrain tire. The manager (Joe) was so rude every time I went back. Like it was my fault they can't do their jobs correctly the first-time. He even had the nerve to say "obviously your not going to go away". Now I am waiting for them to get the correct tires and I've not even received a call back about them. You'd think after spending almost 2k dollars the customer service would be better especially since they have messed up on everything I've paid them for. I would not recommend this shop to anyone, ever!!! This is the worst experience I've ever had at a tire shop. Customer service is completely non existing at this shop. ***TAKE YOUR VEHICLE ELSEWHERE*** Possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with. Caught them in a lie, but they wouldn't even acknowledge their mistake once I brought it to their attention. Griffin Brothers Tire used to be my go to garage to get work done on my car, whether it was tire related or general maintenance. Ever since they were bought out by Mavis Tire, they have become a headache to deal with. My tire pressure light was on this morning, but I have noticed a slow leak in my right front tire. Asked for them to take a look at it as well as another headlight issue I've had for a week. After sitting around for 2.5 hours (they got rid of the shuttle service), they said the tire was good to go but they were baffled to why the tire pressure light was still illuminated. I left Griffin Brothers to head to the VW dealership to see what they could figure out about the headlights. While I was there, I asked them to look into the tire pressure light, since Griffin Brothers claimed that the sensor was malfunctioning. They checked the pressure of all four tires and low and behold, my front right tire was reading 25.2 psi. They put air in and the tire pressure light went off immediately. I went back to Griffin Brothers to confront them about what exactly they did/looked at with my tires. The front desk reps both claimed that they watched the technician put air in and check the tire for leaks. I called BS on them, and it makes me so frustrated when people lie to your face, to cover up a previous lie. There has got to be a trustworthy mechanic/garage around the Charlotte area... but you wont find him/her here. This is and will be the last time I step foot in a Griffin Brothers / Mavis Tire shop. read more

Service done here is always done correctly, but recently I was asked to complete a customer satisfaction survey for this location. I had no problem with this and answered the survey honestly giving 8 out of 10 stars for all questions. Minutes after this, the store called me and tried to coerce me into doing the survey again and giving them 10 out of 10 stars. You don't get 10 out of 10 stars by trying to swindle people into it, you earn that through superior service. This did not sit well with me. Also, the last time I got an oil change here, they did not put the mileage sticker on my windshield to tell me my next service mileage. I will not be returning here. read more

Unless your pockets are deep and don't have the time to price shop, you're going to pay a hefty price no matter how you look at it. Griffin Brothers was recommended by my brother for their quality of service and price; two things many consumers look for. I couldn't take my still in warranty car to get new tires to the dealer because they wanted to charge guess how much, $2000. I went to griffin and was quoted less than half that quote from the dealer. Ah, no brainer here folks. I went here and received outstanding service from the front desk and their waiting room has WiFi, popcorn and drinks. Phenomenal experience for car repairs. I sent them the following email about my experience. I never received a reply..... Hi - Just wanted to let you know about my recent experience. I brought my 2016 VW in for an oil change about a month ago. A week or so later I noticed an occasional odd noise, but thought nothing of it at the time. Last week I had to take an emergency road trip to Pittsburgh. When I got there I noticed a lot of weird metallic ticking/rattling noises. I needed to stay over an extra night to take it to VW and have it checked out, I was afraid to drive it home otherwise. Turns out that when the oil change was done the engine shield was not replaced correctly. Some of the bolts were not fully tightened and I believe at least one had fallen out. That was the cause of my rattle. So because of your incompetence I needed to spend $120 for another night instead of heading home. That and the added inconvenience. I purchased 4 new Mavis brand tires about a year ago and also bought the warranty protection for peace of mind. Since then, I have taken my car in at least three times to find out why my right front tire keeps loosing air and their response is oh its just low on air there is no issue. I'm having now to add air to my right front tire at least once a month to keep it from going flat. I don't know if they're trying to ride the warranty out and not spring for a new tire because it's defective or not replace a possible bad stem valve because they don't want to incur any loss whatsoever but I would not buy from them again. I would also advise everyone to read the reviews before committing to buy future tires. read more

I called looking for tires for an old Volkswagen. They told me that these tires are considered for "classic or antique" cars and that I should order them from a mailorder tire business that specializes in such things and that they would be happy to mount and balance them for me. I did as they suggested and took the old wheels for the changeover. They were helpful and got my job done exactly as I specified, with the weights inside the rims so they can't be seen. My job was finished right on time and the price was more than fair. John and Ben took excellent care of me and even asked me to bring the car in when I get finished restoring it so they can have a look All-in-all it was a good experience, start to finish.
