I sent my daughter in to a MAVIS located in Pensacola, FL to have two brake light bulbs replaced. They charged her $20 for the bulbs and $60 for labor, $30 for each bulb. The process for replacing the bulb requires the removal of ONE screw and unplugging the bulb, plugging in the new bulb and then tightening back the screw.....5 minutes maximum to complete! You hear stories of women being taken advantage of by mechanics, and this was no exception. I called to speak with their store manager, Brian, and he saw no issues with what they charged her and how they do business. If this is honestly the way that MAVIS operates company wide, they should really BE AVOIDED BY ALL CONSUMERS. read more

I am usually extremely hesitant about bringing my car in anywhere, as we all know how difficult it can be to find a good an honest mechanic. However, Mavis exceeded my expectations in all areas. I used Trax for many years before this location became Mavis. I stopped in to get tires checked before leaving for Pensacola. It wasn't crowded when I drove up and I called first. In fairness, they thought it was just to check the air pressure. My air pressure alert had come on, but I had also ran over an unknown object a few nights earlier and wanted to be sure I didn't pick up another nail as I had the previous month. I was there for almost an hour if not an hour. The guys just lack the friendly customer vibe as their predecessors. They could communicate more letting their customer know what's going on and how long the wait will actually be; it will eliminate the customer frustration. I think places of businesses should understand we are the customer understanding we we will not always be able to get 'microwave' time service. (A select few businesses get the concept of great customer service nowadays). read more

I took my vehicle here for a routine oil change and was given an estimate for $1,500 to replace my front shocks and struts. I told them that was not in my budget and was then immediately offered a line of credit for the purchase, which I declined. Had my vehicle checked by a mechanic and my front shocks and struts were in perfect working order, no repair or replacement necessary. When I went back to the location for clarification, I was told that it was recommended due to the high mileage of my vehicle for "preventative maintenance." This location attempted to sell a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY, GROSSLY OVERPRICED service and then suggested that the customer to take on a substantial amount of high interest debt to pay for it. I took my car in for an overpriced oil change $87.00 and came out with two new wiper blades that just put on without asking and charged me for them, reducing my now $54 oil change,plus two new wipers to 77.00. Also told me I need new brakes and rotors for another $770 plus tax. I did not get the brakes/rotors, and took it to my dealership and another tire store. Ends up they both said I had at least 30-50,000 more miles on front and back. I then found a receipt in my car for new brakes and rotor from 3/2019 and have only put 5,000 miles on my car since then due to shutdown/covid. This place pays their employees bonus' on selling their products and services. They obviously add services to your bill. Be aware! read more

Just had tires replaced at Mavis on Old Shell and found all tires to be extremely over torqued (greater than 130 ft/lb vs 82 ft/lb spec) and all four tire pressures to be off by over 8 psi. I might have thought this was an exception if this was the first time this happened but the exact same thing happened in my last visit. Not only does the over torquing make it difficult to remove the lug nuts in the event of a flat, it also makes it more likely they will break off or warp your rotors leading to a very expensive repair. read more

I went to get a set of tires and was told they did not stock them and it would be a week before they could get a set. Went straight to Walmart and they installed a set within 45 minutes! Can't sell from an empty warehouse! When you need tires, you don't want to wait and come back. read more

My daughter had a flat tire on her way to class at USA. We just had breaks put on her car two weeks prior. When we called them to see if they could help her, the tech picked her up at the college, took her to her car, filled it, and put her spare on for her, then followed her back to the shop for a new tire. Came into the location after terrible experience at the 108 University Blvd location on Saturday June 30,2018. James was polite, but after questioning a online 79.99 brake pad coupon Tom became rude, aggressive, and very aguementative. So i visited this loccation and they were like day and night. I walked in and they were friendly, with a smile and accepted the coupon. They completed the work in the timeframe they advised. I picked up my car and they advised they had to jump start my battery. I advised I had not had any issues paid amd left on Sunday I started to hear a sound. so I returned on Tuesday and they came out and assisted me and made the needed adjustments and no more noises. I took my car in for regular maintenance (oil change, tire rotation) and was told that my brake pads were 80% worn and needed to be replaced. My car is a few years old and has never had new brake pads put on so I agreed. Within the week after getting it back, my car was leaking oil and making strange sounds when driving. I took it to a different place that was highly recommended by a friend, and was shocked by their report. Mavis had not only put on the cheapest break pads on the market, but had put them on the WRONG wheels (right on left, vis versa). The engine oil cap underneath the car was barely on, and was leaking. I was very lucky that I wasn't in a wreck, and was completely ripped off $300. Do your research before going to a mechanic, and do NOT go to this one. read more

These people are horrible!, this rating does not give justice to the horrible treatment that I received today. If there were a 0-10 rating I would give them a 0! About three weeks ago, I went to the location on Old Shell Rd. across from USA. I went for a simple tire repair....... I had two hubcaps missing already on my front two tires before I went, but the back two tires had hubcaps on them when I had them to repair my tire. They repaired my tire, and while they were repairing it, they came and told me I needed two front Calipers, brake pads, and rotors, and that would be $600.00 & that I could sign up for their plan where you pay $12.00 a month. I declined and told them that I had the pads and rotors replaced last year with them at another location. He then lowered the price because he saw where I indeed had them replaced with them and they were under warranty. So he basically took off the amount for the brake pads and rotors. Also, one of the other guys that works there was rude when I was talking to him. I left and went straight to my mom's house, and while there she pointed out to me that I had a hubcap missing off the back tire and the cap on the stem was missing as well. I did not know it was missing, it did not fall off while I was driving nor I did not see anything fall off either. I called and told the guy who answered the phone what happened and he said he didn't see anything, and that I already had some hubcaps missing, At that point I said it doesn't matter and that I had that particular one on my car when I came, and something needs to be done about it. So they said they would order one for my car. I went back up there that same day and spoke with them in person because I also, needed to speak with them about the Caliper, which is a different story. One of the other guys was very rude might I add. So, they basically told me they would order the hubcap and took my name and number down. I went back up there about a week later and was told it hadn't come in and that it should be here the following week, so the following week comes and they still didn't have it. And I was told that they are sorry they have been really swamped, and then he goes and takes a picture of my hubcap and tells me to come back Wed of the following week and it should be in, I said ok it better be in. Nothing prepared me for this type of nonsense that I experienced next..... So I went up there today which is Friday 11/20 and they still did not have it in. The guy I spoke with today, tells me that they tried to order it but they can't find them and he is sorry that I have come up there so much but also that they can't just order one hubcap, I said well that is not my problem, I also stated that I wanted to speak to the manager and he says he is the manager. He then proceeds to say that they had put it back on and it must have fell off after I left and that I already had some missing. At that point I said yes I did have two missing but that doesn't warrant you guys misplacing my other one. He then proceeds to say he has cameras and that he could show me where they put it back on. I said show me the video. He then proceeds to escalate the situation by saying he will call the police, now I had not done anything threatening, for him to call the police I had not made any moves toward him or done anything that would warrant a threat. I am a very small petite woman who is 4'11, I have NO WEAPONS, and again I HAD NOT MADE ANY threatening moves toward him or done anything that would warrant calling the police, I only asked to let me see the cameras. He then walks away and goes in the back and says I am dismissed, at that point I was so angry, because I am a black woman who carries and has always carried herself in a respectable manner. I am college educated, which I do not say that in a arrogant way only to say that the picture that these people try to paint of black people or people of color in this Country is just deplorable. Anytime that something happens with a person of color they paint the picture of them as being, a horrible person. So I am a college educated woman who works, pays her taxes, and NEVER STOLEN anything or had any criminal record of any kind nor do I associate with drug dealers or done any drugs. I have tried to call the corporate office and was told I will get a call back from the district manager, and I have yet to receive a call back, I have spent money with this establishment several times over the past years with oil changes and also as I stated previously having my break pads and rotors replaced which was a good $300, NEVER AGAIN will I SPEND MY MONEY with these people. Hubcaps may not even cost that much but it is the principal of the matter, that is money that I have to spend on three hubcaps instead of two and whether or not I have 0 hubcaps missing or three is not the point it is Customer Service, which is something that has gone out the door with a lot of these businesses. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I have never been here but my battery died and it was close to my house so I got a jump and drove up to get a new one. Dude doesn't even look at my battery and starts telling me a million other things I should get done on my car. I tell him I know I need some things but I just want a new battery right now. He tells me they have financing available if I wanted to get everything else. I told him I could look into it, but, again, I just need the battery. He still hasn't looked at it. We go inside and he tells me to fill out my information in his computer. I asked what it was for because I did not want to sign up for anything just yet. He let me know that I was not signing up, only seeing if I was eligible. I hit submit and get a page on the computer that says I was approved for $xxxx and the card was being mailed to my house. I got mad and told the guy that this signed me up for a credit card and that he was unclear when explaining what he had me do. I did not want a credit card. He said "well you don't have to use it." I said I don't want it at all. I came for my battery. He said "well you'll have to pay with your own money then." Well, duh! I drove here with the intention of using my own money. I then got an email that my credit had taken a hit from this credit card that I did not ask for. I told them again I do not want this card so they called synchrony and told them to cancel it. The woman on the phone said she couldn't find me in the system and I would have to wait 48 hours to cancel. I hung up the phone and left. My car battery was still dead but I refused to ask these people for help so I called a friend who jumped me and I drove to firestone. So now I have a credit card that I don't want. And if I cancel it, I'll get another hit on my credit. These people at Mavis were unclear and were just trying to upsell me and take advantage of me. read more

Terrible, condescending service. I came home and two lug nuts were missing from the tire they just put on. I called the store, and they couldn't have been less concerned. Maybe to a shop that puts tires on daily, this isn't a big deal, but it's always disconcerting to pay 100s of dollars for incomplete work. When I returned, they stripped the threads, and they had to keep the car for the rest of the day. They "graciously" fixed it for free. However, they couldn't fix the oil leak, even after charging me a few a hundred. I also love driving off and feeling my steering wheel shake violently, and then come crawling back in, because they somehow manage to make you feel like the fool (and they're right, because I paid them). The staff can't be bothered to care unless you know them it seems. There's this attitude that they're doing you a favor, while taking you for hundreds of dollars over a reasonable price. Oh, and don't expect any informative answers. I've felt this way at a lot of mechanic shops, so don't worry Trax you're just following the trend. Granted this is one person's experience, and I'm sure you can go there and have a great experience, it's just never happened for me at this location, Highway 90 location, Schillinger road location, and the Theodore location. read more

Incompetent! Suggested a way to fix my steering wheel pump plus talked me into two new tires. I left $800 there only to discover my pump problem persisted and they charged me $20 for 30k miles warranty on the new tires, without even mentioning this was an option. No refund possible when I addressed this, only credit for future service. As far as the expensive pump repair - I had to come back four (4!) times in 2 weeks with the pump still not functioning properly bc of fluid leak, when they finally (and graciously) determined it was a malfunctioned pump and installed a new one at no cost. But wait - the leak continued and when I showed up at their door for the fifth (5th!) time claiming my $800 problem hasn't been resolved, the response was "99% of the time what we did solves the problem, but now we think it's this other part that is probably causing the problem and it would be another $700-$800 to get that fixed." Hard lesson learned, I finally figured I would never get my problem fixed there, better yet, I would never see any of the money refunded as a courtesy for not being able to fix my issue. I took my car elsewhere and guess what - all it needed was some seal ring replaced to stop the leak ($50) and I was good to go. I would have much more appreciated a fair proposition- "hey, we are tire people, not mechanics, you are better off going elsewhere with this problem." I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN and I WILL BE SURE TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THIS! read more
