A lot would get done if the employees didn't just sit around on their phones and smoke their vapes... I only came in for a tire rotation and oil change... I didn't expect it to take almost 2 hours. I called prior to showing up to see if I needed an appointment and he said "come on in, I don't have a lot going on today". I expected it to be a smooth and easy process. Be honest with your customers instead of making them wait unexpectedly. I could've easily had my husband pick me up instead of waiting so long. I will not come back or recommend this location to anyone for services. I ended up not even getting an oil change. They called me back and said that my drain plug was stripped? After a hour and a half wait. Do not go to this location. Save yourself some time and go somewhere professional. He told me "I could've just did the oil change and not have told you." Don't trust these people with your vehicles. My hood was still open, my fuse panel was taken apart, and a tool was left in my car. This place is a joke. So I bought four new tires after having to get them to replace the first set of tires because they were horrible. The second set are horrible also. I think they sold me some very old non-brand tires but at the time my fiance was going through chemo and had just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He passed away May 12th of 2024. I did not have time to deal with these tires but I am not happy at all. I'm still having to put air in two of the tires periodically and I am very frustrated. Someone needs to contact me and make this right. You don't take advantage of good people and I couldn't get there because of chemo treatments and hospital stays. I went to this location on Thursday May 23 because the car was making grinding noises every time I pressed on the brakes. So I figured I needed to replace my brakes, I I came to Mavis for the free brake inspection. After waiting for about 10-15 minutes the lady came back and told me I need new brakes, Calibers, and rotors on my two front tires and quoted me for $709 and some change. She stated the urgency and importance of getting the service done soon. So I drove off and my car was worse than what it was when I brought it there. The front wheels seem to shake , very badly and the grinding noise was much louder. So I told my husband what happened and he chose to take the car to Firestone the very next day and they told him nothing was wrong with the caliber and all I needed was new brakes. Ended up paying saying less than what Mavis was asking. However, it's so sickening how they try to play people to get an extra buck or two. I dropped my truck off at this location to get some maintenance done. One of the services was replacing my cabin filter. When they returned my truck, I turned on the a/c and heard a fluttering noise from my dash as well as seeing a FRESH oil stain on the cabin ceiling. When I addressed this with the representative and technician, they essentially accused me of these issues being preexisting and said that they won't be able to address it. I take exceptional care of my truck and expected great service from this company, however, the results were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! Save the headache and take your vehicle elsewhere!!! read more

Brakes review: I was told by Jennifer that I would need new rear brake pads and rotors. I had previous issues with my ac and had been back to this location @ least 2 times @ this point- see google review for complaint about a/c and TPL issues. I was told that I would be given a great discount for brakes & the rotors. When you see my detailed complaint on google you will see why I am ticked off! I was only given a 10% discount when I deserved @ least 50% off. I am not unreasonable and know I would not get a 50% discount, but a 20-25% discount is reasonable. June 17, 2023 after they replaced the rear brake pads & replaced the rotors, I was told by Jennifer that the mechanic- Larry test drove it and the steering wheel did not shake anymore. I ran errands, driving carefully due to bad weather. On the way home when applying the brakes, my steering wheel shakes again. I called the next morning telling Jennifer about the issue. I came back in on June 23rd, I was there for 2 hours, they checked all 4 rotors, then suggested rebalancing all 4 tires. That fixed the issue! What I am upset about is this is an established tire and brakes company and them being the experts, no one thought to check the tire balance when I previously complained about the steering wheel shaking when I applied the brakes? Now I am questioning if I needed new rear brakes and rotors to begin with!!! BTW, Darryl proceeds to tell me that my tires are dry rotted. What the hell? In Jan. 2020, I paid over $1000 for new Pirelli run flat tires. There is no way that these tires should be dry rotted! Darryl stated they were manufactured in 2018 and they may had already been dry rotted. WHAT THE HELL??? SO MAVIS TIRES IN THEODORE, AL SOLD ME DRY ROTTED TIRES!!! I didnt expect a Tire place to impress me so much that I would write a review, no less 5 stars. I brought my car in for oil service and rotation only to find my brakes to be a safety problem and these guys took care of it all quickly. It was better than a fair price for needed repair and it gave me tremendous peace of mind driving to see my mom. The team was professional, personable and proficient and it doesnt get better than that. I will now bring my girlfriends car here as well since I know she will be treated right. I called this location spoke to Cam, he was friendly and helpful over the phone. I made an appointment and my husband went by for the appointment after work, which is 3:00 pm. I drive up there to bring him home while we waited for 4 new tires to be put on and balanced, no alignment because they didn't have anyone available to do it. It took longer than expected, not a problem. The problems began when we left there and was half way home in the short 3 & 1/2 mile drive to our house. They did not put the lug nuts back on tightly. And it was also pulling to the left terribly. Pulled off side of the road & called. They were closed no answer, no forward. They were closed when they called us to pick it up. We had paid before the service was done, so the truck was sitting out front for us to pick up. There was someone inside but they didn't come out. Keys were on the floorboard. We had the receipt from paying for tires and balance. No other information or paperwork. Um ok, that's how we do business in Theodore Alabama.?? The next morning called, also called because my truck was still pulling terribly to the left. Brought it in the next afternoon, so two days after having tires put on, again they were so behind I had to leave it for them to balance it correctly . The staff this time was cold, argumentative and rude. When we picked it up, the truck was out front, they were still open. Went inside , came outside to leave was blocked in. Went back inside to get them to move the other car. Truck was still pulling and bouncing. However they were closed when I called them. I checked the tire pressure. It was at 60 psi, as well as tires still not balanced right. Well I wanted a manager, finally when I got ahold of the manager and explained the situation, he made an appointment for me to come in and get it fixed right. When I arrived for that appointment, talked with manager. He said that it should had been done right and he would make sure. I stayed there that time. While working on the truck the manager was talking with me, sharing more than he should about his personal life with me. I left believing everything was done correctly this time. Didn't really notice anything terrible in my short drive home, Next morning I get up and on my way to work , everything was wrong once I got on the freeway and started going over 65 miles an hour. Not Good at all. Called up there to talk with manager. I didn't get anywhere with him....... umm. Really do your research before dealing with this company. I have found reviews with the same problems , as well as many people by word of mouth that has had terrible experience with their work and customer service.-They do not do quality work unfortunately in my experience. I do not believe I am asking too much to do the job correctly that I paid for. I called the other Mavis in town. They says they are not affiliated with them and that I have to go back to them. The worst tire store I've ever been to my life! I dropped off my wife's car early today at 11:30 for a noon appointment to fix a tire leak and oil change. I called at 5:00 to see if her car was ready and was told by Paul that it was. I dropped her off at 5:45 to pick up the car on her way to work at the hospital and it hadn't been touched. When I asked him why he didn't call me when he realized it wasn't ready, all he said it's been busy today and was a smart ass. When I asked who the manager was at this location, he refused to tell me. Do yourself a favor, call another tire store...especially if Paul Stokes is working the front counter! read more

MAVIS TIRES IN THEODORE, AL- The only good thing about this place is that store front and restroom was very clean. The service was TERRIBLE!!! I went in to get my tire patched due to a nail in my tire. I have been to this location several times over the last 6 months for multiple reasons and I have to wait @ least 1 hour each time I have gone there. The other day I waited for 1 1/2 hours to get 1 tire patched! I heard The lady with the pink hair (Jennifer??) cursing up a storm while in the outside bay area complaining about a difficult customer that had called. There were 2 other customers while she was out there. She was pleasant to me and the other customers faces BUT very unprofessional while she was outside talking to the staff! She was complaining about how short handed she was and how no one wanted to show up for work that day. I never see the same staff each time I go in there which tells me that they can't keep anyone working there. The guy that patched my tire tried to tell me that my tire wasn't any good and I needed a new one. My tires are less than 1 year old! This is not the first time that they have tried to sell me on something that I did not need. I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! DO NOT GO TO MAVIS IN THEODORE!!! I walk in as they were having an issue with a customer ...one of the mechanics used profanity ... there were two other guys at their registers and none of them would greet me finally after a few minutes one of them mumbled something ... I said I'd like to get a tire repaired because it had a screw in it .... he mumbled something else while not even making eye contact and after I said "what" he mumbled again I'd have to come back Monday ... there were 2 mechanics just sitting standing behind the counter doing nothing ... it's very plain to see why this place gets 2.5 stars I'd give them a zero for customer service ... it was obvious they did want to be bothered with me and it tells me everything I need to know about how they feel about their jobs read more

Went into the store at 2pm to get a nail hole repaired. I noticed the shop was empty and assumed I could get a nail hole repaired with no problem. The service writer told me he was booked up for the rest of the day and could not get to my truck. I am not sure why he was booked up for the day with no cars in the shop nor in the parking lot. This is the second time I've been turned away due to non sense and I will not ever return again. I left Mavis and drove 1 mile down the road to Fortner's tire were I received excellent customer service and they fixed my tire in 15mins. I can't speak for any of the other locations but the Theodore location is horrible. About a year ago they gave me quote for brakes for the front and back of my truck and I decided to let them do them. When I picked up my truck it turns out they only replaced the back brakes and said that's what they quoted. Against my better judgment yesterday I scheduled an appointment for 8am this morning to have the oil changed in my wife's car. When I called i got an automated system and I selected the option to speak with someone at the Theodore location. When they answered I specially asked if it was the Theodore location and Paul said it was. He scheduled the appointment for me and everything was fine. I was there standing in line outside at 7:50am. Once I made it to the counter they tried to look up my appointment and did not have me scheduled. Paul was there and blamed it on the call center. (By the way he's the same person that quoted the brakes on my truck a year ago) I tried to explain to him that I talked to him yesterday evening when I made the appointment but he denied it and said that there's a Paul that works at the call center and blamed it on them. I might try another location but I will never come to the Theodore location again. read more

I had a nail in my tire. I called them around noon on a Sunday to see if they could fix that day. They told me that they're busy but if I brought it in they would have it done before closing at 5pm. So I had a family member drop it off. I called them around 3.30 to see if they had fixed it was told no that they were still busy and hasn't gotten a chance to fix it but they have it done before closing at 5pm. I sent a family member to pick it up at 5pm and it wasn't done they had to wait on it. I understand that they were busy. But if they couldn't get to it that day they should have just said so. I had a leak in my AC condensor and took it to Trax. The next day I get a phone call saying they found the leak and would replace the condensor at a cost of 1150 dollars plus tax. The mechanic told me it was an all day job. I searched auto fix and discovered that the average cost should be between 250-400. Labor should be 1.5 hours. I even called the dealer and was quoted a price of only 450 plus tax. (That was using the most expensive replacement part) Either Trax was dishonest or they were incompetent. Either way, don't take your vehicle here for repairs. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and balance and rotate. I bought my tires here so balance and rotate is free for the life of the tires per contract. After my car service was complete, they called me into the service area to tell me that the hub on my left front tire was loose and that tie rod needed to be fixed. He explained to me that this would cause my tire to wear on the inside of the tire. After I left Mavis, I could tell my car drove worse after Mavis but before I took it there it did not drive bad at all. I took my car to a local mechanic who proceeded to tell me there was absolutely nothing wrong with either of those items. He said the only thing that he could see is that the front left tire was a bit out of balance. He balanced it and it drove great. It is very frustrating to receive a quote for something that is NOT wrong with your car especially when the thing that is wrong with your car is the very thing that the service was for in the first place. I'll never go back there. I don't trust them at all. The local mechanic was so nice and did not even charge me to balance that tire. That is great service. read more
