This was an amazing find. We had been to two other wineries today but this was the best. We ordered a flight of wines each. She had the blush. Tropic. Grace and Sex. Our favorite was Grace but Sex was a good second choice. Our second flight was Ombré. Us. Wild. Redd Us and Redd were about a tie, both were very good. Wild, not so much. The best part of this tasting is that these were the best wines we tasted today. None of the other wineries compared. We found out that Grace was a gold medal wine. That was our favorite even before we found out it was awarded. We bought a bottle of Grace and a bottle of Sex as we left the winery.
Mawby Winery was so special! We got this recommendation from a couple of friends and had to check it out!! Hands down the best sparkling wine from the Midwest. I love their méthode champenoise sparking wines the best but their Cuves were also delicious! I loved the wine knowledge of all the staff and talking to them about sparkling wines locally and abroad. Everyone was so nice and friendly! If we didn't have our dog with us, my husband and I would have been inside doing tastings and talking with the staff more! This winery is dog friendly but you have to sit outdoors. Wine by the glass is allowed in those areas. Tastings are indoors only. The property is gorgeous! You won't go wrong sitting in either area! We will definitely be back!!

The winery is casual, comfortable & has a beautiful vineyard view We've been wine club members for close to ten years & it's one of our favorite places on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. Big Little is great too! Same winemaker & on the same grounds.
Stopped in for a quick flight and ended up taking two bottles home lol. Very friendly staff and spacious inside. It was raining but there is outdoor seating too. Was just looking to relax and forgot how good the bubbles are. Sex and Grace were the leaders in the clubhouse. Can't wait to bring home for the family to try.
I went to Mawby for part of a bachelorette winery tour and it was awesome. They are such a cute spot with great views, wine, and service. I had a delicious wine flight and we shared charcuterie crackers, cheese, and pickles - it was nice to have a food option that was at a good price. Melinda worked with us and was so attentive and kind and great for catering to a large group of people.

Mawby is known for "Sex," another of its wines, but I thought that one was just okay too. Do make a reservation if you want a table - We originally had one for 5:45 p.m. today but we were able to change it to 3:15 p.m. since we wanted to get there earlier in the day. I also thought wait service was friendly but a bit slow. We ordered some charcuterie type stuff, and the honey goat cheese was actually a hot honey goat cheese, which wasn't specified - It was delicious but I can't do too much spice. Overall I would maybe return here but it wouldn't be my first choice probably.

One of the first stops on our wine tour. Mawby had a lovely outdoor seating area. We were greeted as reservations were highly recommended. We did not have them, but were able to get a table outdoors but only for an hour. We were given a complementary taste of their house wine, one that you can only get there. Our hostess was great. Good recommendations and very informed. I got a flight of what I thought were their most sweet varieties, but they unfortunately I did not like any of them.
We had a great time tasting at the bar. The ambience was lively and everyone was super friendly. The bourbon barrel red was so unique.

Lovely experience and highly recommend! Visited on a Sunday with my family and had no troubles getting seated at a table outside. My mom, sister, and I each ordered a flight while my dad ordered a glass of wine. I prefer sweet wine, so the sweet flight was perfect for sampling 3 sparkling wines! Views are beautiful and our server was extremely friendly and helpful! He even brought us chips on the house as a "thank you for your patience waiting", despite not waiting long at all.

We split a container of the delicious whitefish spread and crackers and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine each. My little cousin, not yet a drinker, was able to enjoy some chips and a lemonade. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We got about 4 bottles and a magnum to go and have been enjoying it little by little ever since we returned. Can't wait until our next visit!

We scheduled a tasting months in advance due to the popularity, and limited seating from Covid. The staff was very professional and polite. We were taken to our table which overlooked the vineyard. It was absolutely a beautiful, and mystical with the slight overcast and clouds. We wound up ordering 2 different flights. Both were delicious, and was the perfect afternoon of bubbles. We didn't order any of their drinking snacks because we ate right before arriving. All the positive reviews were spot on when describing this place. A definite must go if you're in the traverse city area. Overall this exceeded my expectations due to only being a sparkling wine experience. Traditionally I'm a red wine kind of person, but they provide a quality product with a quality experience.

We only discovered Mawby thanks to a recommendation from Shady Lane and wow, am I glad we did! Out of all the wineries we visited, this one easily landed in our top two. If you enjoy bubbly wine, this is an absolute must. Whether you like it dry or sweet, they've got something that will hit the spot. One of the coolest touches is that they seat you with a complimentary tasting of their house wine, such a welcoming way to start the experience. And yes, it was so good we may have brought a bottle (or two) home. Mawby is fun, laid-back, and a sparkling gem in wine country. Don't miss it if you're in the area! read more

Visited 07/22/2020 to their tasting room. Reservations, and masks are required. Reservations are super easy on their website. Our visit was on a Thursday afternoon. We sat on their patio overlooking the landscape, in the shade. The day was perfect. We started with a glass, then chose a flight each with the charcuterie plate. The charcuterie is prepackaged and a perfect snack for two people. Our server was so sweet and absolutely excellent. The owner stopped by to say hello and I was able to get his card, to hopefully convince our local watering hole to put a keg of sparkling on tap. While sitting at the table, we signed up for the Fizz club. No cost, no obligation and discount given for our food and flights. Your reservation gives you about 50 minutes at your table. It was plenty of time. We asked our server for a case of Green, bottle of Bright and bottle of Redd. Green is my favorite, hands down. I have always wanted to come to this vineyard and so happy we finally did, even with the shut down. There is staff in the parking lot to direct you after you check in and their precautions are on pointe. Excellent. Can't wait to go back again. read more

This place is a magical, most visit spot on our Traverse trips, and we were thrilled that they had exactly one opening during the busy weekend we visited since they are operating by appointment now during the pandemic. While many wineries had switched to by the glass pours only, Mawby still offered a nice variety of tasting flights and some small accompanying light bites (we highly recommend the whitefish dip to accompany their crisp, sparkling wines). They'd also added some fun by-the-can sparkling cocktails, which we found summery and refreshing (they are light, sparkling spritzers and include refreshing flavors like passion fruit and are infused with tea). I'm a fan -- great light drinks for the boat. There's also a small winery next door so when you make your reservation, be sure to book an appointment there for afterwards. The view here is as divine as the wine and the staff is stellar. read more

Theee free tastings when you visit Mawby? What's not to like. Service was great and the staff was very kind. April, pictured, was really fun and helpful. After our tasting, I ordered a bottle of freestyle for my group to enjoy and they brought it out on ice with glasses for us. So you know - they do exclusively sparkling wine, prosecco, and champagne! They offer cheese based spreads at 3/each which seemed alittle steep for the size, but they were tasty. The environment inside is a bit loud but they have so many patios that you should be outside anyway. We enjoyed some picnic tables seated next to some grape vines. So picturesque. read more

Mawby was my favorite winery we saw in the Travers area simply because the service was amazing, the view was spectacular and the overall experience was fabulous. Our server was Malinda and she made the experience fantastic. She was educated on the wine she was serving while also so personable and sweet. She made my 21st birthday celebration with my mom a truest special experience. read more

GREAT winery. I am a huge champagne fan and Mawby has so many great selections. Some of their champagne is only sold in house. I strongly recommend trying out this winery. Late review - went to the winery at the end of February. Great staff that is extremely friendly. Plan to go back in summer. read more

Be aware that L. Mawby specializes in sparkling wines, so if you don't like bubbles, don't bother. As soon as we arrived, we were promptly greeted and shuttled to a small tasting table. I appreciated not having to elbow other people at a bar to get attention. The place was packed, but it didn't feel that way. (Take notes, 45 North.) The gentleman pouring the wine was very chipper and had a lovely English accent, which only made the experience feel more elite. You get two complimentary tastes at L. Mawby. They start with their middle-of-the-road sparkling wine, then you can go sweeter or drier, depending on your taste. I don't recall which I tasted, but they were both good. I'm just not much of a sparkline wine fan, so I didn't buy any, but if you like that kind of thing, you're sure to enjoy their offerings. As you leave, be sure to stop by Big Little Wines, which shares the same parking lot. (I really liked their Mixtape white wine.) read more
We made an impromptu trip to Traverse City the end of June/July for a few days. I just love spontaneity and being able to celebrate life one bubbly at a time! I am a fan of the bubbles, he is not! That being said, we balanced our trip with wineries, distilleries, and breweries. That's one thing I appreciate someone who is willing to do things just to make the other person smile, that is a perfect balance in a relationship. During Covid, you have to check on reservations and availability of places in TC due to its popularity and limited seating. We were fortunate to find a cozy table overlooking the beautiful scenic vineyards. The weather was absolutely perfect. I'm a fan of Mawby Bubbles so it wasn't difficult to decide on my flight. My two favorites are Sex & Detroit. When you're visiting the wineries in TC it's always good to bring some extra cash for bottle purchase. You can normally find unique options not available in retail stores and discounts. read more

I was talking with a friend of mine who thought customer service had slacked off during the run of Covid Theater. I started to think about it and tend to agree Not all places but some. Which brings me to Mawby. We decided to vacation " up north" for the first time in years. TC and the surrounding area seems to be coping pretty well. We went to a number of wineries and ran into no problems aside from LIMITED seating in the tasting rooms but the SAVY wineries used their lawns and beautiful weather to expand their access to guests not constrict it. The "funny" sign at the entrance set the tone. For all of Mawbys hippy "coolness" they certainly showed their authoritarian side by restricting access to anyone under 21 despite the place being virtually empty. I guess they can't sell the kids anything so the heck with that next gen buyer. Michigan Champagne sounds like the punch line of a joke so I'd try a bit harder to market your wares in a tough economic environment. Now here is my dilemma, the wine is good. And the price is right. I bought some to go. But don't throw customer service out the window. read more

This winery focuses on sparkling wine. The free tasting includes two tastings. They have a paid option for full pours with an appetizer. We did the two pours with the goat cheese (which was awesome). The wines had fun names, though they did not tell you much about the wine. Our group liked the Jazz and the Detroit. This was a very fun, laid back stop. I did not learn much about the wine or the process, but all of the employees were friendly and excited. There was also an area to sit down and relax with you wine. A definite stop for a wine tour if you are in the area. read more
We visited Mawby Sparkling Wine room, just around the corner, after our stop at The Big Little. We found more people here on the outdoor patio. There were heaters for the chillier days to come. I ordered the Dry-er flight consisting of Blanc, Tropic & Green wines. My husband ordered a glass of Redd and the whitefish pate. I was expecting more of a champagne-like experience with the wines, so I was a bit disappointed. The wines were okay, not great. Tom raved about the whitefish pate. He finished every drop and licked his fingers afterward. Our tasting fee included the glasses, which we packed in paper to take back with us. The friendly staff all wore masks, and the tables were well distanced- nothing to be afraid of! read more
