Mawby Winery was so special! We got this recommendation from a couple of friends and had to check it out!! Hands down the best sparkling wine from the Midwest. I love their méthode champenoise sparking wines the best but their Cuves were also delicious! I loved the wine knowledge of all the staff and talking to them about sparkling wines locally and abroad. Everyone was so nice and friendly! If we didn't have our dog with us, my husband and I would have been inside doing tastings and talking with the staff more! This winery is dog friendly but you have to sit outdoors. Wine by the glass is allowed in those areas. Tastings are indoors only. The property is gorgeous! You won't go wrong sitting in either area! We will definitely be back!!

Only took a pic this time of a flight & the super delicious whitefish spread

We first visited Mawby many years ago, maybe 15-20, and it never ever disappoints. Staff is friendly & helpful. It always feels like a party, with a capital P. The winery is casual, comfortable & has a beautiful vineyard view We've been wine club members for close to ten years & it's one of our favorite places on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. Big Little is great too! Same winemaker & on the same grounds.

Stopped in for a quick flight and ended up taking two bottles home lol. Very friendly staff and spacious inside. It was raining but there is outdoor seating too. Was just looking to relax and forgot how good the bubbles are. Sex and Grace were the leaders in the clubhouse. Can't wait to bring home for the family to try.

I went to Mawby for part of a bachelorette winery tour and it was awesome. They are such a cute spot with great views, wine, and service. I had a delicious wine flight and we shared charcuterie crackers, cheese, and pickles - it was nice to have a food option that was at a good price. Melinda worked with us and was so attentive and kind and great for catering to a large group of people.

This is not a bad winery by any means but unfortunately was my least favorite of our trip. Take that with a grain of salt - I prefer sweet wines, although I do like sparkling wines. I had the "Sweet" wine tasting flight and my future SIL had the more dry flight. I liked the Detroit sparkling wine, which was my first taste in the flight, but the others were a bit dry for me. Mawby is known for "Sex," another of its wines, but I thought that one was just okay too. Do make a reservation if you want a table - We originally had one for 5:45 p.m. today but we were able to change it to 3:15 p.m. since we wanted to get there earlier in the day. I also thought wait service was friendly but a bit slow. We ordered some charcuterie type stuff, and the honey goat cheese was actually a hot honey goat cheese, which wasn't specified - It was delicious but I can't do too much spice. Overall I would maybe return here but it wouldn't be my first choice probably.

This is how it was shipped. Everything was perfect and I will be chilling one of these tonight.

We went to a tasting last year. Had a good time and enjoyed all of the different sparkling wines we tasted. Great place for an afternoon visit. I don't normally join any kind of clubs where things get shipped but we tried it. Could not be happier with the results.

One of the first stops on our wine tour. Mawby had a lovely outdoor seating area. We were greeted as reservations were highly recommended. We did not have them, but were able to get a table outdoors but only for an hour. We were given a complementary taste of their house wine, one that you can only get there. Our hostess was great. Good recommendations and very informed. I got a flight of what I thought were their most sweet varieties, but they unfortunately I did not like any of them.

We had a great time tasting at the bar. The ambience was lively and everyone was super friendly. The bourbon barrel red was so unique.

Delicious wine. Wonderful views. And the staff is unparalleled. I'm keeping this short, because. Winery this wonderful doesn't need a hype review, it speaks for itself when you're there.

Lovely experience and highly recommend! Visited on a Sunday with my family and had no troubles getting seated at a table outside. My mom, sister, and I each ordered a flight while my dad ordered a glass of wine. I prefer sweet wine, so the sweet flight was perfect for sampling 3 sparkling wines! Views are beautiful and our server was extremely friendly and helpful! He even brought us chips on the house as a "thank you for your patience waiting", despite not waiting long at all.

Still simply the best. Loved every sip and every moment visiting. We had our pups with us and they were able to accommodate us by sitting at picnic tables near the vineyards. This meant we weren't able to do the traditional tasting since they can't carry them down from the tasting premises but since we had a group it was fine. We split a container of the delicious whitefish spread and crackers and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine each. My little cousin, not yet a drinker, was able to enjoy some chips and a lemonade. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We got about 4 bottles and a magnum to go and have been enjoying it little by little ever since we returned. Can't wait until our next visit!

SERVICE:5 FOOD QUALITY: N/A DRINK QUALITY:5 ORDER TIME:5 AESTHETICS:5 NOISE LEVEL:5 MENU SELECTION:5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 5 Chose this as one of our premiere traverse city visits based on the amazing reviews. We scheduled a tasting months in advance due to the popularity, and limited seating from Covid. The staff was very professional and polite. We were taken to our table which overlooked the vineyard. It was absolutely a beautiful, and mystical with the slight overcast and clouds. We wound up ordering 2 different flights. Both were delicious, and was the perfect afternoon of bubbles. We didn't order any of their drinking snacks because we ate right before arriving. All the positive reviews were spot on when describing this place. A definite must go if you're in the traverse city area. Overall this exceeded my expectations due to only being a sparkling wine experience. Traditionally I'm a red wine kind of person, but they provide a quality product with a quality experience.

Visited 07/22/2020 to their tasting room. Reservations, and masks are required. Reservations are super easy on their website. Our visit was on a Thursday afternoon. We sat on their patio overlooking the landscape, in the shade. The day was perfect. We started with a glass, then chose a flight each with the charcuterie plate. The charcuterie is prepackaged and a perfect snack for two people. Our server was so sweet and absolutely excellent. The owner stopped by to say hello and I was able to get his card, to hopefully convince our local watering hole to put a keg of sparkling on tap. While sitting at the table, we signed up for the Fizz club. No cost, no obligation and discount given for our food and flights. Your reservation gives you about 50 minutes at your table. It was plenty of time. We asked our server for a case of Green, bottle of Bright and bottle of Redd. Green is my favorite, hands down. I have always wanted to come to this vineyard and so happy we finally did, even with the shut down. There is staff in the parking lot to direct you after you check in and their precautions are on pointe. Excellent. Can't wait to go back again.

Two of the current Top Chef contestants were previously chefs here before filming. They have a good sized uncovered outdoor patio, and more limited seating inside. The interior seating has a homey feel, the decor is simple Northern, Lake Michigan. The menu is short, but a good variety of options, I'm not sure how often it changes, as the entrees during our visit were a bit more substantial, suited for cooler weather. We had Ceasar salads, Mac and cheese, burrata, and Chicken Marsala. I also had their soup of the day, a beef chili, my favorite item we had. We thoughts the Ceasar was a standard good. The Mac and Cheese was a bit boring and dry. The Burrata was great, nice fresh tomato's. We also enjoyed the chicken. I had a flight of three of their wines, nicely presented. I thought both of the whites, first fruits, and the Gruner Veltliner, were very good. Gilchrist is relatively newer to the area wineries and a nice addition.

My husband and I stopped in and were immediately greeted at the front door by a lovely woman who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. She walked us through the tasting experience, pointed out the restrooms, and truly set the tone for such a warm and inviting visit. When we made our way to the tasting bar, we were greeted by a wonderful man who was funny, engaging, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. He explained each spirit so well and made the tasting experience genuinely fun. Come to find out -- the two people taking such great care of us were the owners! Their hospitality and customer service were exceptional and made the experience feel personal and memorable. And the spirits? Absolutely phenomenal. We ended up leaving with six bottles because everything was that good. This was hands-down one of the best experiences of our entire trip. My husband, who favors sweet beverages, or at least today he does... Insisted that the lemoncello was so delicious from his sampling that they brought him a 3 ounce pour and I swear to you it taste like Lemon Pledge mixed with sugar water. Then he got some cream situation. The lemoncello crema. Before I even drink it, I took a with, and it smelled like breastmilk vomit. Straight baby spit up. My friend tells me that my review is truthful, but kind of mean. But I have had four drinks here and they were all kind of gross. We will probably come back tomorrow. I'm gonna go try the horseradish vodka. Maybe that will be better.

Not sure why we were treated so negatively at the start, but I asked the gentleman about how we thought the wine pairings with the food was a little odd to us, his response was, "well people may not want to have what the suggested pairing."  Okay got it! We did notice the chief visited the customers sitting at the tables, but not us, again feeling insignificant that were not worthy of her time. But then again we were the only ones sitting at the bar eating, or drinking for that matter.  Maybe the manager, owner, or whoever greeted us was not having a good day. Still very disappointing that we never felt welcomed. Their wines might be good, but we really never got that far and our mood was not in a good place. I recommend just trying their wine, don't do the Friday Foodie event.

At first I didn't know if they were open because there were no sign on the door and it was a little after 11:00 a.m. when we got there. A man came out and greeted me and my husband. I asked to do a red wine tasting. They are complimentary which was great!! Here is what I sampled and their prices: 2011 Cabernet Franc - Light bodied with cherry and crabapple flavors. $11.00 2011 Merlot - Raspberry and red fruit notes, with a pleasing grip. $11.00 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon - Black fruit tones with silky tannins. $11.00 My favorite was the Cabernet Franc very smooth and not acidic. I ended up getting a bottle. Great price! Very reasonable. Read the last review and was iffy about coming here because of the service. I thought the man was nice. Yes he was quiet, but that maybe his personality. He was friendly to me and my husband. My only con is the inside is not decorative or inviting. But the outside is nice. There is a walkway that leads you to the lake (with seating) and you enjoy a glass a wine with a beautiful view. It was a quick tasting, but I thought it was a good experience. To me all that mattered was the wine was good and free tasting?! Can't beat that. Their hours: Open daily (7 days) 11 am to 6 pm
