I even went through the trouble of filing a formal appeal with Aetna, which was denied simply because of timing. This process has been stressful, time-consuming, and felt very misleading from start to finish. I left and called as soon as I got home, and arranged a return visit asap. Went back and they wanted to charge me $400 to fix what I already paid $200 for. Every time I call, I can never get someone who speaks ENGLISH!" I thought it extremely inappropriate for her to make those statements to a patient, and worse, that's how she feels. I followed up again a couple of weeks later. Her first question was, "Why haven't I heard from your insurance?" Did you follow up with them? Did you re-submit like I asked you to please? "It's YOUR insurance!" she yelled back. "You have to follow up with them!" I'm in the insurance business and have NEVER had a provider tell me I have to follow up on their work. The coolest thing though? They have tv's on the ceiling. What a better place to have a tv, right? While they are digging in your mouth you can watch Judge Judy. By 3rd occurance, spouse got fed up and left. I decided to stay. Now they're owned by a private equity firm. I called to ask about 2 weeks before my upcoming cleaning appt. Front desk staffer was very nice... said hygienist and docs didn't know. She said she had to call "corporate" and would call back later that day. I didn't hear back that day or the next day, I followed up a few times. "Corporate is in a meeting". "We haven't heard back from corporate yet." "We're stlll waiting on an answer from Corporate". I emphasized that "corporate" needs to realize that this is an important medical issue. "Corporate" never bothered to respond. That's when I knew it was time to fire this practice. I no longer felt safe. My new practice immediately respected the importance of what I was asking, looked into it and had an answer for me. It's sad how little loyalty is valued at Usmile. I was an ideal patient: pleasant, low key, never grumpy, never late, never missed an appt, a prompt payer, never demanding. Diligent on home care. During that visit, I was aggressively oversold unnecessary procedures and told I needed to replace two crowns. From that moment on, everything turned into a nightmare. The crowns were done incorrectly. During the procedure, my tongue was cut, causing unnecessary pain and discomfort. After leaving, the pain became unbearable and I was forced to return. At that point, your staff realized they had forgotten something inside my tooth. They removed it and placed something else in an attempt to stop the pain. Now, as a result of your mistakes, I am being told I need a root canal. This is completely unacceptable. You walk into this office and everyone is overly friendly, but it is very clear they have no idea what they are doing. If I wanted students practicing on my mouth, I would go to a university dental clinic. At least there, a professor supervises and patients are not oversold unnecessary treatments or physically harmed. The level of incompetence I experienced is alarming. What makes this even worse is that the doctor is fully aware of how badly this was handled and now avoids any direct communication. She does not even show her face. I strongly advise anyone reading this to stay away from this place. Your health is not something to gamble with. I expect a formal response and accountability for the damage caused.
