Pool heater has been down since July 2, 2023. Made phones calls and sent emails, I have not received a response on the pool heater issue. I will NOT be renewing my membership or recommend this business to family or friends. I would give them a higher rating but due to lack of response from management I gave them 1 star. Do NOT join this gym ! I've been here 2 weeks and it's not the best gym at all. I was given incorrect info and tried to cancel my contract and apparently there's a 13 month initial term that they will not let you out of past 7 days. Kinda ridiculous! the gym is nice. plenty of equipment. the sauna is awesome. however, and this is a big deal to many customers as I've heard them talking about it, the massage bed room smells like a dead rat and it's been that way for months now. it says a lot about management. most people would do something about that. to make it worse they close the door. it's disgusting. read more

I visited the area for a week and paid $35 for the entire week and it included classes, gym, pool, childcare, sauna, and hydro massage. It was really clean, smelled nice (especially for a gym) and the machines I wanted to use were always available. Staff was very nice and people at the gym were nice as well. read more

I am a member .. have been for a while . the customer service at the front desk is not good . I asked to get a massage table . one guy said you will have to wait 2 minutes. I said ok . what table he said 4 . I said I don't like that one used it yesterday. he said 3 I said ok . waited 5 minutes. cleaned it and it had a code . went to the front desk . another guy was there & I said bed 3 is not coming on . he said I just put someone on it . I said I waited for 3 . he said unfortunately you will have to wait . I said no . I will leave a review . they always have different people working the front desk and they don't seem to care about customer service. Or members that renew their membership ! Not Good :( read more

So I have been a member at this gym for 6 months now. In terms of equipment, they have ALMOST everything you need. If you are looking for a bunch of different attachments for their cable machine set up you will find limited selection. The staff is interesting, I'd say about 25% are very friendly and the other 75% just have a stank face all day long, very off putting. If you are worried about Covid-19 do not come to this gym during peak times. It is extremely crowded, no one wears masks, and no one is following social distance protocols. However, if you come during off times it is much more manageable. Overall I WOULD have given this gym 3 stars(honestly not a bad gym for middle GA) but the staff is just so off-putting. I would recommend this gym to people who have lifted for several years and are looking for something different. I would not recommend this gym to newbies because at peak times, it can be very intimidating. read more

I will get straight to the point. The COO Martin or Michael only wants your money. Don't try to cancel due to covid he will insult you and question you. My health is more important to me and my family. I was wearing a mask and he kept asking me to speak up so many times just to cut me off. I was sitting directly in front of him and any louder I would have been screaming. Here are the questions and statement he mentioned "why are you upset..are you are ok" (not in a caring manner or tone) "I've had covid it's not that bad" "You're just gonna stop working out?" "Where are you gonna work out? " if covid went away tomorrow then you would come back right" These were my questions about this gym Covid policy. Do you have A covid policy? No How do you screen people for symptoms or temps? We just ask the people that look sick. (According to the guidelines from our governor, this is not sufficient. Each person is supposed to as upon entering) In the end he did not freeze my account. He was more worried about proving point that covid is not bad. There is no guest service here. I was treated incredibly rude and after being treated this way would not want to come back after Covid is over. read more

My daughter & I have been going to the gym from September 2024. Yes, it has been just a 9 months. My daughter was in a life threatening accident in 2020. Put her in a bed for 2 years. We both needed to lose weight and do rehabilitation to get our bodies back in shape. We have been enjoying the pool. Together we have lost over 125 lbs. We are so very grateful to the staff, Emmanuel & Jenny water aerobic instructors, plus Shawn, Brad & many more staff have been so welcoming & encouraging to us. Here lately the volume of music has been turned up; before customers were able to request to turn music down just one notch was done. But now management will not allow staff to lower the volume. I personally asked more than 50 different individuals of all ages "Do you like to level of the volume of the music good? " I have not found not even one person to say it is just right. All have said it is too loud. Even today when I was in the pool , saw a management personnel go by. I voiced Sir,sir; he acted like I had not said a word. I said" I know you can hear me but if you can't then the music must be too loud. He just turned & walked away. Can anyone tell me why the sound system has to so loud? The facility is clean. Moderately crowded....not so bad that you can't get to the equipment you need . I wish the weekend operating hours were longer (later on Saturday and Sunday) and longer time given in the recovery room (massage beds etc) Otherwise, no complaints. read more

Just be aware that when you sign a membership with max it is 12 month membership that auto renews, and is impossible to break. Which is fine, most memberships auto renew. But my problem is they give you no option to break the membership early, not even for a fee. You're stuck paying it for 12 months whether you go or not. And I understand places have policies, that's fine, but make sure your employees explain this to people when they are signing your contract. read more

It was great they offer weakly passes for people visiting from out of the area unlike the few other national gyms in the area! This helped make my trip to the area pretty good ! All the equipment was fairly clean and new. Mostly an open air gym that seemed bigger at first. I did not get a chance to try out the pool or kids care. read more

Gym is nice. Management is sub par. 1. Weekend hours are not nearly long enough. 24/7 access would help tremendously with how packed the gym is all the time. 2. Sauna is broken for months at a time. 3. You have cleaning staff come through every night... why not provide your guests towels? You have showers, sauna, and a pool but no towels. Huge issue with this gym's video policy. The lackadaisical policy promotes inappropriate use of phone cameras that will make most folks that are aware, very uncomfortable. To start with, there are people literally setting up tripods unchecked, recording everyone and everything in their wake. You'll be creeped out when one of your friends links you to none other than yourself, unknowingly starring in someone else's gym video, for millions to see on social media. Also, several times I've personally witnessed creeper guys pointing their camera phones at, and apparently videoing/photographing females (young and old) on the gym floor. Completely unacceptable. In the men's locker room, and even in the sauna, despite now-posted policy, I still see guys taking pictures, even with other men changing in the background. Also completely unacceptable. I've spoken to the staff about these issues multiple times. Just a lot of shoulder shrugging and "just come tell us," without any gym floor policy in place and no real policy enforcement going on. Like they are going to audit someone's smart phone and media, and then take informed action because you point your finger at a creeper? Come on! For sure, there's a debatable expectation of privacy for being videotaped when you're in a public place, but the digital invasion at Max Fitness is overwhelming, and unnecessarily so. I'll be eventually setting up a home gym instead. It's a premium equipped gym and a shame they won't both enact a video policy and then enforce it. Last night, there was a groups of guys upstairs having boxing matches and drills, and recording video. Very distracting, out of place, and not at all safe if you were using the squat racks and equipment in that area. No staff said anything about it or did anything about this. And thereby condoned it. Staff members are largely quite friendly and professional. A few exceptions, one being a trainer who looks like he breeds goldfish for a living who got very snide with me when I politely requested that he stop pointing his video camera directly at me while he was also taping someone he was training. He could have taped from another angle, easily. Otherwise, this gym has almost every piece of equipment that you'd need except for a hex deadlift bar. There is a typical number of gymgoers that think they own multiple sets of dumbbells or multiple pieces of gym equipment at one time while they superset like the pros that they are not, in a gym that is not their own home gym. But these types are much more the exception than the rule. Despite the busyness and other reviews here, I have found that even during peak times, you can usually get a good workout and that folks are amenable to letting you work in if you ask to do so. read more

Visiting the gym in person is step 2 for me- the reviews remain VERY hot and cold-so we'll see what my in-person experience is like- the word predatory was used in two other reviews and that is a superlative that gets my ear. Gym contracts are NOTORIUSLY known to be sign your life away deals-so buyer beware is a given-I was immediately upset by the fact that no one would even BALLPARK me memberships costs-and it ALMOST made me cancel my in-person view of the place tomorrow morning sometime. Great fitness center. Best I could find in the small town of Warner Robins, GA. 2 stars rating given due to poor customer service related to ending my contract with the gym since moving to Savannah. Lived in Warner Robins from March - June, met my now wife, live in Savannah renting a house of a friend of her Mom's. No official rent/lease agreement other than what was discussed via email and phone conversation. Sent what emails I had indicating the existence of a spoken contract, which by law, is equal to a formal contract if it is referred to in writing. The fitness center refuses to cancel my membership because it's not an official lease agreement. By law, my agreement is official. I've already canceled my payment method and highly discourage anyone else from using this gym unless you want to be bound up in an inflexible contract. read more

I joined Max fitness last year in October of 2020 under the family plan. This is a fairly large gym inclusive of any workout equipment you can possibly think of except for Pilates machines. I love that it not only has an indoor pool and water massage recovery chairs, it also has a children's play area for parents that are trying to stay active but are unable to find sitters. Their aerobics room is spacious with ballet bars and hard wood floors. Upstairs also has a cycling room where spin classes are held and available 1st come 1st serve depending on the membership. Downstairs by the guest services desk, they have a fridge pleasantly stocked with recovery and hydration drinks. Though this gym does tend to get pretty crowded on weekday afternoons into the evening, I'm able to run through my workout routine within 45 minutes when all equipment is available. read more

Our collegiate athlete daughter was visiting from another state and Chris went above and beyond to provide a short-term cardio program for her. gym is clean. equipment well maintained. both positive I go 4 days a week and have had one employee say hi. negative. I do a circuit workout which means I move quickly from station to station. largest complaint is people occupying equipment who are just sitting there and using their cell phones. staff does not say anything to these people although they will often sit there for 5-10 minutes resting. they need to enforce their cell phone policy. if they'd do that I'd give them a 4+. read more

I went back and forth with Max for well over a year trying to cancel my membership and when I was finally able to do so, they Continued to charge my card. They did not go into detail on what would happen to my account after I cancelled. Really nice facility. I use the pool for laps and weight machines every week. Never had to wait for a lane or machine. I've always been greeted upon entering and acknowledged while leaving. Mid mornings the locker rooms are being cleaned. I occasionally ride my bike, but there is no bike rack. Otherwise, great place! read more

Love the place because of the sauna, pool and workout machines. Also the relaxation chairs are a bonus. The least busy times are mid morning and mid afternoon. If you are afraid of COVID you should really try the sauna more often to build your immunity. I love that this gym opened their sauna as soon as possible during the virus era. They keep the place very clean and germ a phobs can rest easy. Just work out and enjoy it. read more

Never thought I would be saying how bad this place is yes it's nice but the owner or gm who ever they are will tell you who is your family member or not and now make up new rules when I first asked about the family plan it was members of your family then when I added my family to it i said okay but now I'm told it's has change only husband and wife and 2 kids only my I said ok I'll go back to what o had $29 he told me kno you have to pay $40... I am so tired of selfish people tying up two machines. They leave articles of belongings on a machine to indicate the machine is occupied while they are on another machine working out. They go back and forward between machines. I think this is unbelievably selfish. Many times I have not been able to use machines and skipped my usual workout do to this crap. I am very tired of this. The gym should post a sign ONE MACHINE AT A TIME. The employees are friendly. The owners brother was a disrespectful A-hole to me. I had an appointment for parking lot video and the poor girl tried to get this A hole to give me some video. He flat told me he didn't have time for a customer and walked off. I felt bad for the employee, but she did get the video and was very nice. I to have seen people screwing around on their cell phones and tying up machines. I have actually seen someone use a machine for 45 minutes. My entire workout was completed except for the machine being occupied by the idiot on the phone. Why does this gym not address this problem?
