Everyone has been telling us to try Max and we loved it so much we had it three times in one week. The burgers were good, but I wasn't particularly impressed by the fries. Now the chocolate shakes however....they were so delish I was drinking it despite it being the dead of winter and I couldn't feel my fingers as I was slurping it in the cold. For a fast food place, this place is pretty excellent. They have a really easy touch platform to order food and you can switch to English which was awesome. The only thing I couldn't figure out how to do was say no whipped cream on my berry shake. The shake itself was very good, but as expected, got too sweet when infected by whipped cream. Had their cheeseburger, which reminds me of In N Out, ad their fries with sour cream and all the fixings. The restaurant and bathrooms could have been cleaner though. read more

Actually decent for what it was. Our group had been told about this place at the beginning of a tour, saying it's like Swedish McDonald's. If Max was in the US, I would like it 5000x more than the Golden Arches. I liked all of the options, but what really got me was the milkshakes. They were actually thick, not some watered down, runny garbage. So thick I couldn't finish mine. We also tried some spicy nuggets, but had several different types of sauce. People say it is like a Swedish McDonald's, that is an insult to Max, McDonald's sucks!! We were here in May for lunch, ordered at the kiosk, forgot to put on cheeseburger that we wanted ketchup only, went up to counter and let employee know, he said no problem. Our food, including fries was excellent and the service was excellent. read more

A great value for money if you are hungry and looking for a quick fix. Except for coffee, I'd say better than McDonalds. The order process is really quick - you order at one of the cashless express tills or you could pay old fashioned way at the till. When your order number shows up time for you to enjoye there meal. Try Bearnaise sauce, it's awesome!! Only one toilet though, which might be a problem on a busy day! read more

Swedish McDonalds! But so much better. There are screens where you can order and customize your food. There are lots of options for both burgers and sides. There's even a protein style (i.e. lettuce wrap) burger options. The bun is so much better than American fastfood burger places. read more

In case you don't know it, Max is a Swedish fast food chain. But don't get confused, they are by far superior than Burger King and McDonald's. Burgers are bigger than regular McDonald's, even their frites are better (and frites are the things I like the most from Macdo) and they don't certainly look as artificial as Big M's. If you are visiting Sweden and you like fast food this is an obliged stop, they have several signature burgers that you should try as well as the milkshakes. Verdict: Will I go again? Oh yes! Will I recommend this place? Sure, even more to people visiting the country, to show them how a fast food chain should actually be. What about the price? On the scale of fast food chains, this place wins worldwide, hands down, easily. There is simply no company as committed to ethics, with as much taste, with as much locally sourced meat. Sweden has one of the best farming systems in the world in terms of treatment of animals and all of the beef, chicken and bacon at Max is from Sweden. The vegetables are sourced from Sweden, Denmark, and Holland. Sure, I'm just spewing this from their website, but I like Max so much I have actually *been* to their website to read about their company. They also create some fantastic youtube commercials (okay, I'm definitely drinking the cool aid). Things I've learned about Max: -The friscomål is worth the 8 kr upgrade over the originalmål -You will wait FOREVER if you go here after 3am on a Fri/Sat night -You will wait FOREVER if you are used to the speed of other fast food chains we won't name -Do NOT make your friends wait for you outside while you order Max (see above) -You will get a freshly cooked burger that looks like a burger -You will get a bun that doesn't taste like re-hydrated cardboard -You should substitute your fountain drink for a small milkshake or ramlösa -Don't let Swedes convince you to go to McDonalds over Max. When you're after fast food in Sweden, there is only one place to go: Max. This Max branch is located in central Stockholm just by Kungsträdgården (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/1566286-Kungstraedgarden-Stockholm ), a popular meeting place and a nice location anyway. The food is simply miles better than at its competitors. This time I went for the chicken nuggets with hot creole sauce, which reminded me a bit of Notting Hill carnival. Max is the Swedish equivalent to McDonalds and for me it doesn't add much to the Fast food chain choices.Very similar food options and a very similar standard. Usually the clincher for me when I'm comparing these places is the chips, and I found the chips here to be very over salted and thin. Burger King for me is still the winner in this regard in my option. I got a chicken/bacon burger and it was 'meh' so its not somewhere i will be rushing back to. The ads on TV looked good. When I passed by one day, the place was packed. By packed, I mean the place exceeded all fire-code regulations and was spilling out the door at 12:15 pm. It must be amazing, right? Nope. It was just ok. It doesn't compare to Shake Shack or even Wendy's. Max was the only fast food I tried while in Sweden and I have to admit it is comparable to the states In-n-Out. I ordered a "low carb" burger, usually referred to as a protein burger with no bun, and you can definitely taste the quality in the meat unlike other generic fast food burgers. read more

Since I was visiting Sweden for the first time and I saw Max all over the place, I decided to give it a try. We shared a small burger, mozzarella sticks, and a vanilla shake. Everything was pretty cheap and I loved the assortment of the dipping sauces they had there (tried the honey curry and it was interesting!) Very good cheeseburger at midnight on a December night in Stockholm. Near the main shopping district in Stockholm. Computerized ordering kiosks. Has an English language choice -- but reverts to Swedish from time to time. Discernible however. As others say, this is a Swedish version of McDonalds or Burger King, but with more variety. My late visit to this establishment was met by a mediocre display of fast food culture. My friend and I ordered at the same time, ordering the same exact burger, however my order came nearly 10 minutes after my friends did and were cold by the time we ate them. The entire staff did not have the proper head wear/ gloves, creating an unsanitary environment. My friend and I got the same order at this establishment, each paying separately and at the same time. His order came almost 10 minutes after mine, causing my food to get cold and slightly tasteless as we were waiting for his food.
