It had…read moreprobably been 20 years since we last had their spreads, and recently we started craving them again. The problem was, none of us could remember the name of the company because it has been so long. We tried other brands over the years, but it wasn't the same as we found the taste very artificial. We searched for a while and finally found TGP. We saw that we could order through Amazon, so we ordered a few jars. Unfortunately, they arrived broken and leaking everywhere. To be VERY clear, this was NOT TGP's fault. The glass jars had been shipped in bags instead of boxes. We ordered a second time and the same thing happened again. Amazon wasn't helpful because it was a "non-returnable item" so we reached out to TGP through Amazon and I spoke to Chris. I explained what happened and told him how much our family genuinely loves their products and that we looked for them after many years because we wanted that nostalgic taste we remembered. Chris immediately said the way BOTH packages arrived was unacceptable. Even though TGP wasn't responsible for Amazon's packaging, he still took accountability for our experience. He told us he would address it with Amazon so other customers wouldn't have the same issue and assured us that this was not how TGP wanted its customers treated. He told me he would make it right and asked for my address and we honestly thought he was just going to replace the jars we ordered. Then THIS showed up at our door. We were so shocked when these showed up to our door. Chris went above and beyond anything we expected, and we had NO idea TGP made so many products. But the best part was that the spread tasted exactly the same as when we all had it decades ago. That was the whole reason we went looking for TGP. We are all impressed that the company maintained that same quality and flavor after years passed. So many companies change recipes or cut corners over the years and you can tell that TGP didn't. Thank you, Chris and everyone at TGP, for taking accountability for something that wasn't even your fault, for going so far above and beyond for us, and for keeping the quality of your products the same after all these years. However, in the last two months we discovered they prepare it on Saturday so it is crunchy that day , HOWEVER, if you try to buy it on Sunday, it's not crunchy anymore specially, the bottom... it is a pie at this point. Last two times it was not crunchy. . We spent 10 minutes this morning investigating why it's not crunchy anymore and that's where I got the information from. One of the staff at the patisserie suggested to recall them three days ahead of time and we ask them to prepare it the same day we want to buy it... maybe we will give it a third try for a Sunday (I hope they don't give us one made the day before and tell us" oh, it's all the same"...) By the way, they discontinued, the blueberry almond tart: that one stayed crunchy for days. I'll come back next time to either give them an extra star or to take off one more star, depending on how crunchy the tarte will be. By the way France, patisserie does not stay From day today. It is baked in the morning and by five or 6 PM nothing is left... same thing at any French trained patisserie. All over the world.

Rather than understand that I wanted to keep the attractiveness in tact, she decided to take exception to my request. Then another employee walking past made some nasty comments about we don't even have those kind of containers. So I pointed them out in a nearby display of baking goods. Then after a lot of sneering and snideness a man came up from behind the counter to gruffly inform me that they are out of those containers and I will have to take they have. The girl knew, because I told her, that I wanted the cupcakes to remain attractive. So as she boxed them up I watched and she made a point of damaging a few. I should have told her shove them! What the hell is not understandable about wanting your carefully decorated baked goods to not get smear in the box?! Why was that so hard to understand? I have a photo of the cupcakes-- the only undamaged one in front. I'm reluctant to make any more purchases because they made it an unpleasant experience for no good reason

Unfortunately, the customer service has been just as consistently underwhelming. Every visit feels like I've accidentally interrupted an important meeting by...walking in and ordering. The employees (usually younger staff at the counter) rarely greet you, and when they do, it's with the enthusiasm of someone being asked to clean the garage. Today's visit summed it up perfectly. I asked about a couple of the hot tonics, hoping for a recommendation. The response? "I've never had them." Fair enough--but maybe follow it up with, "Let me see if I can find out," or "People seem to like this one." Anything besides leaving the customer hanging. The smoothies are blended with care. The customer experience...not so much. Hopefully one day the service catches up to the quality of the smoothies, because the product deserves it.
