    Cajun salmon

This spot is ideal for people watching their macros, want a light, nutritious meal, or who want to grab something quick on the run. Food is portioned and includes nutrition/macro info. The Monterey location has a funky speakeasy style dining area where guests can microwave and eat their food. That was a fun feature. In terms of the food itself, the salmon was good and microwaved well (I usually don't microwave fish) but the green beans were steamed with no salt or seasoning. I also feel that $15 per meal is a little steep for the portion and preparation, but I understand it's costly to operate a business in downtown Monterey. Overall, it was a decent experience. My biggest issue was the lack of any vegetarian or plant based options. Every meal had meat or fish. It would be nice if they offered tofu or tempeh as a protein option, or a meal that is veggie forward.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was new to town, waiting in a hotel with no cookware. I found this place and ordered ten different meals. They have a huge variety and list all macros and calories before you order. So far every meal has been a homerun and I haven't had to cook a thing. The chili Verde burrito bowl is *chefs kiss* The store manager was a very cool dude and made sure to call me the second everything was ready and even gave me tips and suggestions when I came in . 10/10

    Cauliflower Nachos

Found myself in Monterey CA for a couple days on a business trip and had the pleasure of eating Maxfit Meals for just about every meal while I was there. They were delicious, fresh, fairly priced and far less calories than traditional take out or restaurant dining. Loved that you could walk into one of the stores, buy a meal, heat it up and eat it right there. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The stores were clean and tidy and had plenty of seating. My favorites were the Cauliflower Nachos and the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. Highly recommend!!

I LOVE Max Fit Monterey. I'd never been out to their Salinas store but always heard my friends talking about it, so when they opened a store in Monterey, I just had to check it out! I've shopped at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe and never got the kind of service I get at Max Fit. Yeah, the staff at those places was always nice, but I always felt like a "customer." At Max Fit, I feel like family. I have lots of questions ALL of the time and the staff never gets irritated or bothered by it (or if they do, they don't show it). Zach and Travis are great! I'm personally a fan of the Forbidden Labz BCAAs (Green Apple flavor) and just recently tried their pre-workout Chaos Unleashed...I'm a small person and should have only taken half a scoop, just saying. For their prepped meals, they have a pretty good selection. For those people who talked about there not being a lot of options, I'm wondering if they're stopping by later in the day? Because every time I've gone, there's been more than enough to chose from. The prices are great to begin with, plus they always have promotions going on. I feel like I'm getting a great value: good products at a fantastic price. This is one of those places I'm excited to visit. Before, I used to dread going to the supplement shop to restock, but now I'm excited to stop by with my friends after a great day at the gym! Highly recommend this place. At the very least, stop by and check out their selection! That's how it all started for me...

Rather than understand that I wanted to keep the attractiveness in tact, she decided to take exception to my request. Then another employee walking past made some nasty comments about we don't even have those kind of containers. So I pointed them out in a nearby display of baking goods. Then after a lot of sneering and snideness a man came up from behind the counter to gruffly inform me that they are out of those containers and I will have to take they have. The girl knew, because I told her, that I wanted the cupcakes to remain attractive. So as she boxed them up I watched and she made a point of damaging a few. I should have told her shove them! What the hell is not understandable about wanting your carefully decorated baked goods to not get smear in the box?! Why was that so hard to understand? I have a photo of the cupcakes-- the only undamaged one in front. I'm reluctant to make any more purchases because they made it an unpleasant experience for no good reason

Parking is sparse in front of the restaurant but paid parking is nearby. We entered and wow, the place was busy. Not overwhelming but lots of people in the indoor dining area enjoying their food. The menu is overheard and we decided what we wanted and ordered. The employees were kind and helpful, we probably were the only people that didn't speak Spanish well in the restaurant but that wasn't an issue, SCW got the number 2 combo, I got the mole. Also ordered an appetizer. Seated and waited about 10 minutes and our order came out. Everything was freaking amazing. Such great flavors and so fresh. Even SCW who doesn't necessarily gravitate towards Mexican food made nom nom nom sounds the whole time. The mole was incredible, the best I've ever had. The whole time we were here it was an endless stream of customers, even late lunch hour. SCW was impressed by the contrast stream of people coming in. We even walked around the wharf nearby for a while and drove past again and it was still packed with people. Do yourself a favor and visit El Cantato. I know I will.

It took our party (8 people) a while to decide as we were spoiled with choices. But we had time as it was pretty busy for a Friday around 1. I ended up getting the carne asada nachos and the aqua Fresca that they had that day (mango and watermelon I think). Both were absolutely spectacular. The picture included might not show the best scale but I had 2 others helping me to eat this plate and otherwise I would not have been able to finish it (even as a larger man). The crunchy jalapeños with the chips, beans and guacamole were the perfect balance. As a meat eater, the texture of the faux meat was a touch odd, but the flavor more than made up for it. The staff was helpful and attentive even as they were balancing supporting customers, answer phone orders, and taking regular orders. My wife and will definitely be stopping by here more often!!

I ordered the chicken sandwich on their very delicious homemade brioche bun, along with a molasses cookie and a farm stand cookie. Everything was delicious. There always seemed to be a line, so plan accordingly. I arrived at 10:52 hoping to grab a breakfast burrito, but didn't make it to the front of the line until after 11. Even though I could still see breakfast items coming out of the kitchen, there is a firm cutoff. So, if you're arriving close to the transition time, don't count on squeezing in a breakfast order. And to the person who was in front of me in line and ordered the last piece of zucchini bread: consider yourself lucky you weren't tackled from behind. ;-) The stand itself has a little bit of everything: pick-your-own flowers, a grocery store, deli, salad bar, educational walks and talks, and plenty of space for families. It's definitely family-friendly, and while the kids can run a little rampant, the size and atmosphere of the place make it feel more lively than chaotic. One suggestion for the shop is to have a separate line for grocery purchases. After eating, I wanted to do some shopping, but decided I wasn't going to wait another 15 minutes in the food line just to buy a few items. A separate checkout would make the whole experience even better. All in all, it's a very good stop! It's also a dog-friendly facility, so please make sure your dogs are friendly too. During my visit, a couple had two bullmastiffs which are beautiful and big dogs, but unfortunately, those two were having a difficult time around other dogs. Whenever another dog came into view, they would bark aggressively and try to go after them. Since they were tethered to the table, the dog's frustration spilled over and they'd "jaw" at each-other. Having been raised with dogs in the house, I'm a big believer that bringing a dog into a public space comes with the responsibility of making sure those dogs are comfortable and well-socialized enough to handle the environment. In this case, the dogs were overwhelmed, and it made the experience less comfortable for the other dogs, their owners, and everyone in the yard. I certainly don't expect every dog to be perfect, but if a dog is repeatedly reacting aggressively to other dogs, it may be better for everyone to take a break from the public setting. After all, dog-friendly works best when the dogs are friendly too. To dog owners -- please be mindful of how your dogs are behaving in a shared public space. Correcting your dog when necessary is completely understandable, because sometimes a quick reminder is all they need. But if your dog requires ongoing training, discipline, or repeated correction to manage their behavior around other dogs, that's probably better handled in a setting specifically suited for training. Don't let one difficult situation take away from the experience of everyone else including well behaved dogs. And to the shop -- it's okay to step in when necessary. If a dog is repeatedly creating an uncomfortable or unsafe environment for others, asking the owners to remove the dog from the public area is a reasonable thing to do. It helps keep the venue enjoyable for everyone, including the dogs who are behaving themselves.
