Max Fund is a great economical choice for veterinary care. They are great with the animals and are affordable. The only complaint I have is they are impossible to get by phone. When we had an emergency I couldn't get anyone on the phone for help and had to go to an ER vet even though they probably could have handled the issue. The folks at MaxFund are top tier. They're friendly and knowledgeable and put things in a way that they every-man can understand. I was so impressed at how much the staff familiarized themselves with my cat's records prior to our first visit here; they asked me follow-up questions about what seems to have worked/not worked over the years. The vet tech was amazing and provided the treatment needed so quickly and efficiently. We were in and out in just about one hour! The whole visit was seamless from check-in to discharge. I plan to become a monthly donor and maybe attend their fancy gala to promote pet adoption and such. I highly recommend this business! I didn't see much parking, but there could be more elsewhere on their four-building campus I didn't notice. read more

I now bring all 3 of my cats here as recommended to me by my local esthetician! When I first moved here she told me about this place. I was originally going to VCA because that is where I had taken the cats in Los Angeles. I was not originally aware of different cost level care places. I do have pet insurance but I noticed that the rates at VCA were already more expensive than in Los Angeles AND they were undergoing rate increases for everything. Wellness checks here are literally 50% less than at VCA and the veterinarians are very gentle and mellow. I have been really happy with the service except for one time there was a really loud vet tech who was freaking out not only my cat but also me so now I always request the gentle softer voiced cat-friendly vet techs since the other loud tech insisted that that was just how she talks. This issue has been corrected now since I always request gentle cat friendly techs. I really like that Maxfund also has an adoption center - I've never been but would love to go and the people that bring their pets to the wellness center all seem like neighborhood chill people too. Parking can be intimidating here since it is street parking only but I've always been able to park within 1 block. I also love that this place is so close to where I live so no highways or crazy traffic for my kitties!‍ read more

I have rescued 8 cocker spaniels in 30 years. Currently I have Ms. Bella who is 21 & Mr. Barkley who is 12. Bella has a lot of what I call old lady bumps which I have been able to keep controlled with various chewable supplements as well as immune powder which contains mushrooms that I sprinkle on top of her wet Pet Fresh food. She had a growth which started on her side about 5 months ago. I took her to East Evans Animal Hospital for an eye infections that was not going away. The vet diagnosed dry eye and prescribed antiobiotics as well as eye gel. At her follow up appointment an eye test was done which proved that the $75 eye gel was working. Bella has to continue with that treatment for the rest of her life. At this second visit I was told she had a heart murmur and would need a $683 EKG test before I could schedule surgery for her mass (growth) to be removed. Unfortunately, I would have to wait a few weeks as their is apparently a mobile independent contractor who provides this service. I was quoted between $3200 & $4200 for the surgery. Bella also had a similar growth on the back of her rear left foot. I was told that most likely would not be able to remove that one due to there not being a lot of skin in that area so difficult to close it back up. I made an appointment without too much wait at Max Fund Wellness Center. At that Wednesday visit, no heart murmur was detected. Blood work was done. Her ears were cleaned as I had noticed her digging at one. She had an ear infection so I took home antibiotics. That visit was less than $400. Her surgery was scheduled for that week on Friday, so only had to wait 2 days. I called in on Thursday for the blood test results since I had not heard anything. Based on results, she had high protein levels but nothing to keep her from coming in on Friday. Dr. Makowski who is a surgeon there on Fridays was able to remove the growth on her foot. We are still in the process of healing. Staples come out on 08/04 if ready. Claire who is the Practice Manager was very timely on returning any voicemail messages I left for her. I had called her because I experienced HORRIBLE service from the front desk receptionists. I had left a few voicemail messages that never got returned. One was on Wednesday morning as I wanted to be sure that Vetco had emailed Max Fund her rabies vaccine certificate which was required for my appointment. The email address I was given on Tuesday when I did speak with someone at Max Fund was appointment@ maxfund.org I had the Vetco person stay on the line with me to be sure the email did not come back undeliverable. I was told good to go. When I walked in on Wednesday, I stated I presume that you did get the rabies vax proof from Vetco since I did not receive a return call which I had asked for if it had NOT so I could call Vetco again. I was told by an older woman who sits on the side of the front desk area that they had NOT received it. When I was in the back with Bella I told the Technician/Assistant I would call Vetco again. She wrote down the email on a postit.....it was appointments@maxfund.org Apparently the other email was one they used and must still be "open" since the email sent by Vetco had not bounced back. I was able to get the cert sent by Vetco to the correct email. When I checked out on Wednesday, I experienced the phone ringing SEVERAL times. There were 3 people sitting at the front desk area and NOT ONE answered the phone. Apparently they like people to leave voicemail messages that when someone decides to check them, you MIGHT get lucky enough to get a call back. After that visit, I switched to sending emails to the front desk at the correct email. The majority of the time I did receive timely replies. A few times I rec'd NO reply. Blondy mentioned in her July 2 Yelp Review that she felt mocked. I experienced the SAME. I don't know her name but she was sitting in the very front, had long dark hair, and does not wear glasses. I recently had a very serious head injury as a result of a fall. I still have a concussion. I could not open my right eye for 3 days and feared I might have lost my eyesight. Luckily the bone just above my eyebrow & the side of my face took the blunt of the fall. I did not end up with any broken bones but initially my eye area/face were so swollen that my right eye brow was much higher than my left. My eye lid was so black that it was scary to look in the mirror. By the time I went to the Max Fund, I could slightly open my right eye and luckily did not have any retina damage so could see to drive very carefully. I don't know what the gal said but she was laughing at me for sure as I left the front desk area to head to the back. The arrogant uncaring women should be FIRED. When animal owners need the MOST EMPATHY & CARING who LOVE their dogs & cats like they are their children, they need the BEST SERVICE, not the WORST. I give 5 stars everyone but them! read more

The people surrendered their dog. I saw her on the website and fell in love. Went down and visited with her. Filled out a 5 page application. When my kids went to meet her they told them that the owners came and took her back. In my opinion if you surrender the pet you shouldn't just be able to come take them back. After two vet visits costing almost $400, a misbilled visit fee (I what's checked out under someone else's account) and their unwillingness to write a prescription for standard thyroid medication that I previously received for a year at a time... wow BUYER BEWARE!! this used to be a low cost clinic. For low cost you expect care at this level. But I don't consider this low cost at all. And try getting a call back from these people... Good luck! It's certainly not bougie, but this place really came through for me. With my regular vet completely MIA, they really took care of my cat. Her surgery went well, 9 extractions, and despite a post-surgery scare due to severe constipation that required an expensive emergency post-op visit, she is now happier and healthier than ever. This for a 13 year old special needs cat with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. The female doctor here [I'm so sorry I'm forgetting her name] was so extremely kind and informative, and articulated my cat's situation very clearly and efficiently, and helped me create a game plan I felt good about before her bowel situation became life threatening. I'm removing one star because they gave my cat an enema, which did not produce a stool, and then rushed me out of the clinic 15 minutes later, leaving me to my own devices, returning home via Uber with my cat leaking diarrhea, which made me extremely anxious. Otherwise, this is an excellent affordable option for your pet's surgery. I can only attest to dental, but one month later, she's eating dry food again, has been more energetic than ever, and is happy as a clam. My only other complaint is that the waiting room can be a bit chaotic, with lots of big dogs barking loudly and aggressively. So if you have a squeamish pet who gets frightened easily, it might be best to wait outside while you wait to be called into a room. Staff is friendly and informative, and all are true pet lovers. The front desk staff made me feel much better about the situation, and even gave me personal advice from their experiences, which helped ease my mind. read more

I know this is an affordable veterinary facility, but please, if you can at all spare the extra money, go somewhere else. We recently relocated and, therefore, had to find a new vet for our babies. We took our smallest dog (6 lbs) in to get her yearly checkup and vaccines and to get blood work done for a dental cleaning. We took her back for her dental appointment and, when she came home, we noticed she had a small spot on her skin. Thinking maybe it was just a little irritated injection site, we didn't think much of it. Fast forward a few days, and it had gotten worse. We thought maybe she had just licked it, so we cleaned it and kept a close eye on her. A few days later, several new, not good looking spots showed up, so we called MaxFund. You know when they send you home with post-operative instructions that says call them if you notice any complications? Well, MaxFund didn't mean it. We called them, and they wouldn't speak to us and said they couldn't see us for a week and a half. They were very dismissive with a "too bad" attitude. So we called another vet. They didn't have an opening for two days, but they asked us lots of questions over the phone and walked us through what we needed to do in the meantime. When we took our pup in, they determined that her wounds were consistent with burns that had turned necrotic, probably from inadequate protection between the heated operating table and our little baby's body. Our dog will heal, luckily, but the negligence, the pain and suffering caused, and the terrible attitude when we tried to call about the complications she was experiencing were absolutely unacceptable. I'm only giving this place 1 star, because there's nothing lower. I called 3 weeks ago to make an appointment for our Mama cat to be seen for her teeth, because she wasn't eating, and for a mass that has grown in her abdomen. I informed them that I have a half-feral, female cat that is very hard to catch and that was diagnosed with dental disease at another clinic that we took her to for urgent care, which had been $330. I took my cat to MaxFund today for her 2:30 appointment. My trusted friend arrived at 9am, because Mama had been in the carrier since 11pm the night before. They told us we did not have an appointment and told me to go down the street or to another clinic. My friend had to beg to get her seen, because they were only looking up what they thought I said was her name, baby. I said her name was Mama. They could have looked it up under my name and found it there, but they didn't. So, because she was begging them, they created a list of things to charge me and I had already told them it's her teeth and a mass in her abdomen. It's called "rope a dope" and I guess I was the sucker. She fell for the B.S. But, she told them to start at the beginning, because Mama didn't need all the shots yet. They gave her a form to sign for blood tests, which included rabies, FVRCP, felv boosters and PSE and a few other things to pad the bill. She signed it, because she believed that they were doing the basics first and was told she would have to have these tests in order to have a surgery. She left Mama there for a few hours, because they had to take Mama as a walk-in. When we picked her up they gave her paperwork and then she had to ask to talk to the doc before she left. They put her in a room and when the doctor entered, he asked if she had the x-rays. I said, no they did bloodwork. He didn't mention her teeth. She said, we came here to get her teeth worked on because she isn't eating. She said, can't you see how skinny she is? She spits her food out and runs away when she eats. We have to give her soft, ground up, wet, watery food. So, he said, the mass may be a carcinoma and often in cats they turn out to be malignant. If the x-ray comes back as malignant we won't do anything more for her. So, why do all the bloodwork before doing the x-ray of the growth??? While she was in the with doc, the front desk lady came in to tell her that they found the appointment after all. So, she didn't get to finish with the doc. They charged us $542 anyway. They didn't even give us anything for her pain. They didn't even look at the paperwork that urgent care sent to them, because we already knew she had dental disease. They cannot say they never heard of any of this, because we also said it over the phone. We came to Max Fund, because they work with low income and we were also told that. This place is a joke. It's a misrepresentation to say they work with income and then create charges. It's suspicious why the lady from the front desk interrupted the visit with the doc. Who does that??? Was she trying to hide that the appointment was set up for the tumor? The doc said he'd be back, but didn't return. BTW: MaxFund isn't accredited with the BBB. "A business's BBB rating is lowered when BBB has knowledge of the following: ... Finalized government actions against the business that relate to its marketplace activities and, in BBB's opinion, raise questions about the business's ethics or its reliability in providing products/services." I wonder if their sponsors know what they are doing to customers, price gauging them. This post is going up everywhere. I was looking for a low cost vet in Denver for my cat and they actually got me an appointment next day, unlike a couple other low cost vets in the area that put me off for days if ever. I was so very stressed for money and also stressed for my cat and they were so so so kind to me. The diagnostics were more than I could afford and I was distraught. They gave me a list of resources, waived my visit fee, dealt with my uncontrollable crying and sent me across the street to speak with Diane at the shelter to discuss finding resources to help my cat. Diane was amazing and did everything in her power to help me help my cat despite my lack of funds. She was kind, empathetic, resourceful, helpful, caring and trying to go out of her way to help my cat and help me. I am sincerely thankful and have so much gratitude for the kindness, care and grace shown to my cat and myself. read more

Ok so today was my first and last experience with MaxFund Wellness. At the end of October, I made an appointment for my miniature schnauzer (who is now 8 months old) to get spayed. I had my vet send the shot records over and the woman had me call back the next day to lock on the 16th of December for my pups appointment. Last Monday I called to reconfirm my appointment set of December 16th and to also see if I could add my male exotic bully pup to get neutered (who is 1). I spoke to a male by the name of Ash. He let me know there was no appointment but that the 15th was wide open and I could get them both in. All information for both dogs had their shot records sent to the email per their request. From Monday to Thursday it took someone to answer and I surprisingly connected with Ash again last Thursday to confirm my appointment. He stated I was locked in, what time to show up, how the procedure would go and that someone would contact me on Monday the 14th to reconfirm. He was also apologetic for the mix up. Yesterday the 14th of December I received NO phone call. I took a leap of faith that this place maybe wasn't organized but that all was well. Fast forward to this AM to SURGERY DAY that was met with disappointment and irritation. They did not open at 8AM as scheduled for drop off. I ensured I was there and the first in line with no issues. I get there and sure as today is Tuesday, we were no where to be found n the schedule. When I let the lady know I spoke with Ash she had not much to say but to move to the side. In her defense she was a vet tech that had no access to schedules as that is for the front desk people to take care of (single point of failure) and that they "may start coming in at 9AM", yet that is when they are to be open for normal clinic hours. This was THE WORST experience I've ever had with a vet clinic. For me to have had to constantly follow up and they continuously dropped the ball each time, I legit feel as if I just dodged a bullet with this place. Clearly someone was looking out for me so that they didn't cause damage to my dogs let alone my pockets unnecessarily. If their veterinarians are anything like their staff, I pray for everyone that uses that facility. I would NEVER recommend anyone use their facilities. Planned PetHood and Dumb Friends are worth the wait. Also if you decide to use them and they've not followed up in anything they've said, please take that as a sign that this is not the place for you to entrust your furkid with. UPDATE: So the kid Ash decided to phone me the night of this catastrophe confirming my appointment. I legit told him he gave me the wrong date and he said, "Oh I apologize" as if it was nothing and could care less about the issue of him not being mind you he still only had an appointment for my one dog and not the other. This place is a joke. Can't even get anyone on the phone so leaving this review here. We had an appointment for our cat that we adopted from the feral room at MaxFund a few years ago. The appointment was confirmed twice via email, and then again on phone the day before where they threatened that if you showed up late you'd be charged and appointment canceled. After we traumatized our cat by loading her into our cat carrier that she hates, we waited outside the door for 15 minutes, calling repeatedly and knocking on the door. Later, someone walking by mentioned that they do this regularly - close up shop and head home and don't tell anyone. We had a SCHEDULED appointment! No call, email, text, nothing telling us it was canceled. I have since confirmed with others that this happened to them as well. Keep your animals far away from here. read more

This place has gone downhill. I used to foster through Maxfund and would take my foster pups to Maxfund Wellness Center for their vet needs - this was about 3 years ago. They were great. All the staff were kind and helpful. Fast forward 3 years (and now that I'm a pet owner), and I'm very disappointed. When I arrived, there were no other pets in the waiting room. I was told that I came at a good time because they were slow and that was rare. Great, I thought. Nope. I came to check if my pet had a UTI and to see if she had conjunctivitis, and I ended up being there for over 2 hours. I could've overlooked this had it not been for the rest of my experience. I have a 7 month old puppy who admittedly is timid when going to the vet. She hates it (but what dogs love the vet, really). She is not aggressive, she just tries to hide and flails her legs when unknown people try to touch her face. The vet shamed me over and over and over on her timidness. He told me I was 2 months too late for dog training and that she was going to "bite a child if I wasn't careful." Side note - my dog is enrolled in puppy courses, we just have to wait for them to start. Then we moved onto food. He told me the food I'm feeding her is "crap food", and no wonder she had a UTI. Here's the thing - instead of making pet owners feel bad for stuff they are unaware of, why not just give recommendations instead. The vet also mentioned that there was a possibility my dog had diabetes, but didn't tell me the test came up negative, so here I was all worried for no reason (I only found out because I picked up her records and my new vet told me the results). Needless to say, I left in tears because the vet made me feel like a terrible owner that had permanently messed up my dog. Luckily, we tried out another vet, and had a much better experience (guess I'm not this terrible human ruining puppy lives after all). There is no sense in making pet owners feel awful when they are actively trying to help their animals. I liked the idea of low cost vet care, but it's not worth it, especially since other vets aren't that much more expensive. read more

We have taken our cat here before. Unfortunately, we spoke with a front desk person that informed us we would be able to get a specific test done. She claimed, yes, we do that here no problem. She set up the appt. When I arrive on time, with the paperwork I'm told from the staff that the doctor is not licensed to do the test. Please educate the staff to know what you do and do not do. Take 5 min. to ask the doctor. It takes us over an hr.to get to that side of town. So needless to say it was very disappointing. Something as easy as asking the doctor. I felt it was a good idea to let others know, to double check and triple check here before you make a long drive. It's not anyones fault per se. It is a communication/ education issue that would help the business run better and get 5 star reviews. read more

This is an excellent lower cost animal Clinic (not a private Vet). They are less busy in the afternoon. Read the reviews on their site. 4+ Stars. I took Tucker, my dog there for 14 years. He had all his yearly exams and shots there. He had two different operations (stomach and leg) and both were excellent, healed rapidly, and no sign of scars. They have excellent lab techs who do all the upfront work and questioning. Dr. Cox and Dr. O'Brien are very good and very busy. They are like any human General Practitioner they probably can only allot 15-20 minutes with you, unless otherwise required. I started having to take my Cockier in for some internal issues which had been identified (around 14 yrs old) and I needed to watch him. Dr. O'Brien was always excellent about explaining to me about what was taking place. Even drawing on the white board. We always talked about options. Finally at 16 yrs the bad organ started taking him within two days. They had referred in-home, 24/7 vets, who would help him pass away, but I hadn't had time to contact any of them. I had to rush him in and they (the lab techs and Dr. Cox) were so caring, kind, and helped me let him go. They also provided me with animal grieving material. This is NOT the Adoption/Foster no kill Center. This is the Wellness Center, where when necessary they help a very sick animal move on. I am sure this is against their general principal. A private veterinarian or Denver Animal Shelter is where you need to take your pet. AS FOR THE 1-STARS for the Wellness Center: no vet tech would discuss euthanasia in the lobby. They do not just make you wait and then turn you away. One star for spelling your dog name. You need to indicate the type of shot you're wanting to give your dog and what the dog's condition is. The other 1-star are against the adoption center not the Wellness Center. read more

We adopted our American Bulldog from MaxFund Shelter (Good experience there) next door and they gave us a free check up at the Wellness Center. We still had to pay for the shots and the paperwork receipts they gave me at the end was disorganized I'm not sure what exactly they gave him plus they tried to sell me some services that was not needed. The street parking was difficult and the Wellness Center reception area was small with only a few seats. Every time a animal comes in and out of the hallway, my dog would pull on the leash, it was just a tense situation the whole time. If your looking for low-cost I would recommend Broadview Animal Clinic. read more

After adopting my dog from the Maxfund, I continued to take him to the wellness center after he was neutered there. I felt that I was helping to support the Maxfund mission and after being so grateful to have a pet from Maxfund , I felt this was an important choice to make. However, I have felt for over a year now, that if you are low on funds and have nowhere else to take your pet, continue to take them here. The vets are really nice and the facility is ok...albeit a bit smelly compared to any other vet office you may have been in. I did not mind the wait as carrie-the first reviewer here stated. I also did not mind the weird hours. Sometimes some of the other animals and people in there were a bit weird, but that was dealable too. The dealbreaker with me and my dog came when, on more than one occasion, the secretary was very short with us, as she was obviously extremely overwhelmed and busy. We were informed that she was no longer working there and continued on visiting. Then, one day, the office was entirely swamped, and in order to deal with all of the cramped space, my dog and I decided to move to the back part of the office. We were just there for some updates on shots. While standing behind the secretary desk, we noticed a bookshelf which held many small metal tins with names like "Fluffy, Spot, Sugar, and Brownie." When I inquired if these were what I thought they were, the secretary replied, "yes, they are indeed the remains of animals." I was very upset that they were just out in the waiting room and not in the back office behind a plexi screen. The secretary said they were waiting for pick up. There were like 20 of these-what looked like flat old metal film canisters, and she stated that many people have not picked their animals up. I asked, for the dignity of the animals, why they were not placed elsewhere, instead of in the waiting room. I felt that even though death is a part of life, this was not the best way to keep remains waiting for pick up, or to honor those pets that were no longer living. Unfortunately, what began by voicing my opinion, became a very negative experience with the secretary that worked there. If they do not agree with someone's opinions, that is fine, but to make a patient/client feel horribly for stating their opinion...that was not cool. I felt upset that I would no longer be patronizing the Wellness Clinic, but I still volunteer my time and energy for the Maxfund shelter. As luck would have it, we have found a veterinarian that is absolutely wonderful, where it does not smell, and there is no waiting! good luck! read more

I took my 12 year old chihuahua here at 8am. Walk-ins don't have to pay the $34 appointment fee. I waited about 15 mins. When my appointment was over, they were incredibly busy so if you're upset about the wait time, get there earlier. My Coco was very sick (diarrhea and vomiting). They did blood work, gave her fluids, and took stool samples. They were very gentle and caring. I did appreciate that when Coco had an accident, they were very prompt and understanding about cleaning it up. I've read quite a few bad reviews and that's making me feel a little hesitant about going back in a month when my dog has to undergo major surgery..(teeth removal). I hope my next experience goes as well as the first. read more

Accepts walk-ins, and their prices are extremely affordable. I walked in with my chihuahua mix and waited about 30-45 mins only because it was their busy time and had many other patients waiting. All the staff was super polite, patient and welcoming. They made me and my baby feel comfortable and they treated her very gently even though she can get aggressive sometimes. They explained all the procedures and COSTS of each before I approved. Very happy, Molly is a continuing patient of them. Facilities are clean and safe. read more

I took my dog there for heartworm and basic checkup as we just adopted him. He was extremely emaciated and had bad diarrhea. I told the vet this and was told that he was too fluffy for them to be able to tell if he was underweight. I couldn't believe it, you don't have to only see the dog, you can feel their ribs and spine to tell if they're underweight. You can feel every bone in his body so clearly that's its undeniable he's significantly underweight. About the diarrhea, they said it was stress from the new home. I informed them he was like this BEFORE we adopted him. We noticed on our meet and greet visit he defecated and it was pure liquid then as well. They ignored that and said give it some time to see if he adjusts and gets solid that way. I said fine, even though I knew in my heart this wasn't right. It was at this point that they did the heartworm test. They couldn't give us any test results, though, because they lost the test!!!! I had to take my dog back in and have them retest him. Then, a week or two later, I took him back in since he wasn't getting better and they sold us probiotics to try. We did that and it, too, didn't work. So we went back a 3rd time and was told that the there was going to be at least 3 or 4 hour wait. There was only 1 dog in the lobby. Assuming all 4 of their exam rooms were full that's only a total of 5 animals. Why would that take at least 4 hours?!?! They said it was because they they only had one vet. I said OK when is your usual slow time. They said to come in between 330 and 4 as that's their slowest times usually. I said great, we'll see you tomorrow between 330 and 4 but can you at least test the stool to see if we even need to come back? She said yes, we can do that! I said great and paid the $30. I got a call back several hours later stating that he was Giardia negative but had high levels of bacteria and so they recommend probiotics. I said if you'll look at my chart, you'll see we literally just did that. You just sold us your own probiotics just a couple weeks ago. She apologized and said that they could then try to do an antibiotic. I said great, let's do that. Today I called to confirm that we could be there between 330 and 4 and they said no, their last walk in time is at 3 since they only have 1 vet. I said you only had one vet yesterday and told me to come in between 330 and 4, what would you have done had I shown up when YOU told me to? She said I was being extremely rude (yes how dare I ask her questions) and that if I'd like to take my business elsewhere, I should, and she'd be more than happy to fax my records over to another vet. I told her I was just asking why nothing staff wise has changed but now you're telling me I can't show up when you told me to, after I took the afternoon off from work to do that (I live an hour drive away from their clinic). She again said I was being rude and that's when I told her if she wanted to see rude, I can be rude. I'm merely asking why I am feeling like I'm being told different stories when nothing has changed except its now Thursday, not Wednesday. She again said I should take my business elsewhere and that she'd be more than happy to fax my records to them. So, if you enjoy dealing with a rude and unprofessional front desk lady who doesn't care about you or your animal, a vet tech who talks like a baby to you and your pet, a vet who can't keep track of a test they performed, illegible handwritten vet records like we're back in 1940, a four hour long wait, being lied to your face, and then when you ask for clarification YOU'RE the rude one, then please go here. You'll love it!!! If you actually like having a clinic with compassion and empathy, avoid them. Go LITERALLY next door to Downtown Animal Clinic, or to Planned Pethood, Broadview Animal Clinic or Gillette Veterinary Clinic. They all accept walk ins and are not much more expensive. In some cases they're actually cheaper. Please feel free to adopt your pet from Maxfund, but if you love them, never take them back anywhere they are associated with ever again. read more

7/22 - I take my pup in to get vaccinated, get bloodwork done & checked for a dental appt. I was told her blood work was good so she was able to go through with getting her teeth worked on. On 8/9 I check in for her dental & am told their machine messed up and they needed to do more blood work at no cost to me. I pick her up a few hours later and the bill included the blood work. they made me wait over an hour while their "manager" was on the way to fix the issue. They were very rude and let me know the person who initially made my "estimate" messed up as well and they were sorry. I ended up paying as the manager never showed and they humiliated me by adding I can't come back for services. Who would want to go back to such incompetence!? Go somewhere, anywhere else! read more

Amazing clinic to go to! I had a great first experience. I walked in on a Tuesday at around 2:30 as my little dog hurt his back leg. I was expecting to sit there for hours but they saw buppy right away. The vet was very knowledgeable and gave me good advice. I was expecting to pay for X-rays but after checking him he said it was not necessary at the time. If in 14 days, buppy still is not walking better to bring him back for further evaluation but for now it looked like just a sprain. I am glad I came here because when I called banfield for a quote on X-rays, they told me $360. And I'm sure if I went there they would have made him get X-rays even if it wasn't needed. I walked out of there only spending $35 and even more relieved that buppy only has a sprained knee and he will be okay with 6 weeks rest. read more

Horrible service. They made me wait a lot and wasted my time and my dogs time. She has some masses to be checked which is already stressful and not only did they say they would have to spay my dog if they needed to do surgery on her but also, when I said I was okay with that, they told me the doctor wouldn't dare to do the surgery...? after four hours of being there. They even charged me for the exam..Which not only stressed my dog out more (and she is not easily stressed, she is a sweetheart) but looked at her with no love or concern. Very sloppy work. I've taken several animals here. We usually see Dr O'Brian and he is amazing, as is the other Doc, a female, can't recall her name. It's so refreshing to see vets who care for animals, who aren't just about the all mighty dollar and who don't prescribe procedures and medications unnecessarily, as is the case with so many vets around the metro area these days. I highly recommend Maxfund Wellness. The staff are great too and don't treat you like you don't have a right to know what's going on with you dear pet. I don't know what we'd do without them. Most vets are so ridiculously over priced these days yet unreachable when you have a question. These vets are humble and here to serve. They are selfless and they work their asses off! Another hurray for Maxfund! That makes two hurrahs today. The low cost veterinary clinic has doubtless saved many pets' lives in Denver- let's face it, folks, if your Pug needs orthopedic surgery and you make $10 an hour, if low cost vet clinics weren't around and you had no pet insurance- which, by the way, is a great idea that you should look into if you own dogs or cats- you'd be facing either payments for months and months or letting Wrinkles suffer. However, when a friend of a friend had a pug needing orthopedic surgery, Maxfund quoted the family about 10% of what their regular vet charges to fix the poor little snorty-face's degenerated hips. The staff was very understanding about the family's tough situation- Dad was a hard-working Colorado Springs cop going through a divorce, Mom was absent, and the pug belonged to a cute little girl who loves him very much. The surgeons are very competent- with all the experience they get on everything from routine procedures to the most complex tumor removals and ortho surgeries, they must be! Puggles was walking normally within a few weeks of his surgery, and continues to do well today. As Carrie said, the clinic is busy, busy, busy, and the staff often seems overwhelmed, but this combination of low price and experienced, competent care is rare to find. read more

Not to be confused with the no-kill shelter, this is the low-cost veterinary clinic for dogs and cats, known as the MaxFund Wellness Center. It is very important that you not only check their website for hours, but CALL before you go, because their hours are limited and do change from time to time. I imagine that it's related to funding issues. If you're putting off Mitten's surgery or getting Opie's lump checked out because of strained finances, come here. You will be put off by the smell. You will be overwhelmed by the frazzled receptionist's workload as she calmly tells the woman on the phone, "No, ma'am, I can't ask the doctors to put down your cat if he's not sick. The shelter will take him and find a home...No, we won't kill him for you...." and on and on. You will try to keep your fluffy friend away from the possibly contagious other animals in the waiting room (including the other people). But in the end, you and your pet will be seen by a vet who will talk to you in down-to-earth tones and answer your questions. All for much, much less than you'll pay elsewhere. After you get back on your feet, send them a donation, and help them continue their great work. read more

I will never take another animal there! While the shelter itself is not the cleanest, nor most state of the art, I do respect their mission of being a "no kill" shelter. Sadly that mission seems to sometimes take over common sense. Still, my beef is not with the shelter, but rather the clinic. This place has shown the absolute worst possible care for animals I've ever seen. It may be low-cost, and it is also extremely low quality! I took a dog that was adopted to the clinic. After a series of misdiagnoses and botched surgeries, I went elsewhere. When I compared the difference between a quality vet and this clinic I was floored! The lack of post-surgical pain management alone was enough to convince me to never take any animal to that place. The filthy environment, horrible customer service and seriously questionable level of skill are the final straw. Are the vet techs even certified or trained? When left alone for a time I did a visual exploration of the facility and have never seen a medical facility of any kind with such dirt, grime, and lack of care. I can only imagine the infection, bacteria and pathogens that place is teeming with. I feel lucky that I got my dog out of there alive. Though she does have life-long consequences that could have been avoided or lessened with proper care early on. If you care for your pet at all... DO NOT GO THERE! read more
