Went in to get an exam done on my dog costing over $500 and didn't even get an answer on what was wrong. Recommended that I got to an ER to get an ultrasound done when her stomach was not even the issue. Took her to another vet to do another exam where I had to pay another $500 dollars but this time they were able to diagnose her properly and gave her the medication that was needed and now she is back to normal as happy pup. I will no longer be coming to this vet. Waste of money and waste of time. read more

Great to stand outside for a couple of hours to get discounted vaccines. Don't book a Vet exam. They take your pet away into a different room, away from you to "examine and diagnose." Oops! Missed stage 4 mitral valve prolapse. Dead dog soon after charged $40 to trim her toenails. WhAAAT? I booked a toenail trim at end of day, asked for "extra help" because my Chihuahua was "wiggly." I would say the recent reviews scared me from making an appointment but since my dog had been a puppy we've always made vet visits at dtacc. She went in for a spay on Monday and hasn't had any issues it's now been 2 days and she's back to normal and her incision is healing well! They keep up with how your pup is doing by contacting you first to see if you have any updates and that also reassured me they're great handlers ! The tech was super sweet w my nervous girl and even though my pup got a little nippy towards the end they did let me know everything that happened over all great experience. I've been going here for awhile and have always had a pretty good experience. However, my dog has been experiencing some stomach problems so I have them a call to see if I could get her in for an appointment. Just like all the other reviews mentioned, they didn't pick up the phone and I have not heard anything back from leaving a message. It's ironic how in their response to these reviews they ask everyone to call them- what good is that going to do? It's not like they'll pick up the phone or return a call!! It simply can't be that hard to return messages in a timely manner. I was able to get my dog into another vet and checked out the same day- downtown animal care center unfortunately could never. I would love if they could return my call so I can have my dog's records sent over to my new vet, but once again I'm doubtful that they are capable of picking up a phone. read more

I have been coming to this place for a long time to just get my dog their shots. I brought my dog in for a follow up for a really extensive dog attack. & Everything was fine until I came to pick my boy up and felt rushed out the door, the next day I call because they failed to give my dog their sedation medication. They sent me home with 3 pills, when he's suppose to have 2 every 8-12 hours so that he wouldn't become irritated and he can properly heal. They told me he should be fine for 3-4 days until the medication comes for his script they sent home. Mind you my boy was severely attacked! With the conversation of possibly having to put him down... Why would they think that 3-4 days without his sedation medication even be sensible? Yeah I won't be returning here. In this time they showed NO SUPPORT OVER THE PHONE AND NO CARE FOR MY PETS SAFETY OR COMFORTABILITY! Some vet. DO NOT COME HERE if you want a VET who cares for you and your pet in really traumatic incidents this is not the place for you. Ps. He's been uncomfortable and shaking all morning. I have been coming here since 2016 for my cats. I live in Arvada and it's worth the drive. I love how they are so transparent with costs and what is needed or suggested. I have had so many staff members show such dedication and kindness to myself and my pets. I have had to start care for a dumpster cat, bring my cat in after a fight with a raccoon, and put my 19 year old cat down. We have been through it all! Putting a pet down is a terrible experience but they do everything to make it better. I had a quiet room, they explained what would happen, and they gave me time with my pet after she was gone. They got her cremated, a lovely paw print plaster with her name and a personal handwritten card with her ashes. Carrie is truly the best, she is so sweet and remembers the smallest things about you and your pet. She is so responsive, professional and helpful. I love knowing she is there to answer the phone. Truly a beautiful human being with a heart of gold that radiates from her. I appreciate that the vets will educate me and take time to explain pros and cons as well as next steps in care. I have had multiple vets sit on the floor with my anxious guy! I always feel heard and validated in my concerns. Only downside is they fill up fast for appointments and aren't always available on short notice. I fully understand this in a universal issue human and pet healthcare and being a more cost conscious vet, it's going to fill fast. However, they will give you a huge list of vets that can help sooner. read more

They never answer the phone. I don't understand how you are a business who is open during regular business hours, but don't have a receptionist to answer the phone or questions. Secondly it's disappointing that their veterinarians lack knowledge around your pets medical needs. I was told that my animal may have had a ringworm, but they needed to see if anything would grow in the Petri dish before giving me a definite answer. I called back multiple times to get the results and receive no call back. Now my animal is having an allergic reaction and I'm trying to get some type of medical guidance, but of course they decide not to answer the phone. This place is not worth the hassle and quite frankly it's not that much cheaper than other vet clinics. read more

This vet was recommended by a friend. The prices seemed good for a spay and we were looking for a new veterinary clinic. We arrived early for drop off at 8am. At 2:00 pm Downtown called us to tell us our dog's heart was racing and they needed testing first. 300.00 and an hour later, they told us the initial testing was normal, but that we needed more testing by a cardiologist before they would work on her. We picked her up and she was a MESS - true fear in her eyes! She couldn't wait to get out of there. She calmed down the minute we were out the door. Our dog is a young healthy 2 yr old Rottweiler who has NEVER had this reaction at a vet, and never had any physical issues. What a scary place! Employees were curt and matter of fact - no empathy or compassion in their voices or mannerism. We took our girl to South Platte Veterinary. What a totally different experience! Happy, informative people at the desk, a quick flawless surgery that healed perfectly. We found our new vet home. Please reconsider taking your pet to Downtown. I've lived in Denver all my life and have never had such a bad experience at an animal clinic. read more

It is criminal that this clinic allowed Denkai Animal Sanctuary to spay and neuter my 11 foster puppies at 6-8 weeks old. I don't know what kind of sick financial arrangement this Clinic had with Denkai, but they played along and it happened. And now, the sweet puppies that did get s/n at 6-8 weeks, that didn't have an adopter fighting back against Tara taking their genitals (and had to pay her extra to agree to foster-to-adopt - three boys and three girls) At about 10 months old now, those exact puppies are having developmental issues... Mainly, their little legs aren't developing properly. And they are nearly half the size of the puppies that didn't get s/n. Several of them have had broken bones And have needed surgery (Ruby, Spruce and Aspen to be exact -- for the Denkai rep that emailed all my adopters after I left this review - not because Denkai gives a s*^# - but were trying to gather evidence against this review). I am beyond furious about it. I Can't sleep at night anymore, and I'm not sure how the vet that did the procedures sleeps at night either -I'm horrified that this clinic allowed the rescue to bully me into doing it. Downright Criminal. I called the front desk of Downtown Animal Care Center and asked them when they recommend spaying/neutering puppies, and their exact answer was " Usually six months or older." Im shocked that there are any positive reviews for this clinic anyway because it is dingy, dirty, and they totally misdiagnosed other litter problems that we had. Instead of paying someone to reply to Negative reviews here, asking customers to call the clinic to discuss their horrific experiences, maybe they should hire an integrity control person. Professional, prompt, caring service. I discovered this clinic 2 years ago after receiving what I felt was "an exploitative and highly inappropriate use of upselling" when one of my cats had an aural infection. I was told "she would die" without costly surgery and a plethora of seemingly extraneous tests. To my horror, I was given a "deadline" after which no medication would be provided for her by the clinic - regardless of what I could do with my resources "within a timeline they set". I had just relocated from abroad. After further research and speaking to several industry professionals, I was referred to the Downtown Animal Care Center (DACC). They felt differently about my cat's condition, and they were correct: as they predicted, my cat healed swiftly with antibiotics, and the tests I had been "pitched" were indeed, "extraneous." I received "no-nonsense," professional, attentive care that led to me returning for my second cat's care. The staff was candid about their services. They were also compassionate and helpful. As someone who once founded and ran a successful NGO abroad for animal welfare, I take exception to clinics that emphasize profit over care, and I find DACC to be a lovely balance of realism and quality. There are clinics designed to provide in-house payment plans for urgent services should financial strife be present. I consider DACC an excellent "staple" for my pet care needs, and their staff continues to be impressively attentive and accessible. Thank you for helping my cats stay healthy! read more

We took our 10yr old shihtzu in for dental work. DDAC was so amazing. They worked with our schedule for drop off and pick up. Christina kept me up-to-date throughout the morning on how out pup was doing. She checked on her later that evening and the next day. They were kind and compassionate and also very professional. The cost was very reasonable and ended up being over $200 less than the low-end estimate: We have taken out animals to DDAC for over 20yrs and will continue to because of the staff. read more

Our dog came in for a surgery consultation (this was our vet that we have been seeing for 2 years prior to this consultation and we have never been 100% happy but it was convenient to stay) and after the consultation appointment they never followed up with the pricing or the surgery. I called about 6 times and left voicemails and they never called me back to schedule the surgery for my dog in the 3 weeks since the consultation which is unacceptable. However, I moved and recently went to a new vet who blew my expectations out of the water. Downtown Animal Care Center is absolutely a safe place to take your pet with caring employees, but this clinic doesn't quite set the standard for care that my new vet in Denver does. Dr Ed is amazing! We were referred by another resident of my community of Elbert county. His quote for TPLO surgery was justified & less then ANY other clinic near or far with specialized care pre appointment and at day of surgery. Dr Ed met us at 545am with his technician and took extra hours to go in for us. His process is to complete his own assessment and X-rays prior to surgery. Right now, we all know most businesses are over staffed, under paid and yet crazy busy. This is definitely the case here. My appointment for a new patient was at 5 but I didn't see the vet until 5:30 (but I give grace because people can only do so much). The staff was friendly, no concerns there. I do wish, however, that the vet did a little more. I had my cat's medical record faxed to the office that morning but the vet didn't see them or bring them with him into the room. He skimmed them on my phone in the room. I don't think he touched my cat once while he was there. So that was a little disappointing. Push comes to shove, they were super busy, it was the end of their work day so some lack of attention to detail is kind of to be expected. I'm giving grace and will make another appointment or two with this office in the coming months! read more

Like any parent, I was nervous for my pup to get his surgery done but everyone from the minute I walked in was kind, answered all my questions, and made me truly feel that my pup was in great hands. I especially appreciated that we got to sit down and hold our pup as they walked us through the post surgery care when we picked him up. Also Sir Buddy's incision is healing well. Brought my puppy in for one of the vaccine clinics per my adoption contract agreement and DACC did not record/misplaced the vaccine record. Put us behind a month on his puppy vetting schedule and would not accept responsibility. The individual working the desk and Tech that administered the vaccine both said they would send it to the rescue when I asked for a copy. Perhaps they should limit the amount of pets seen at vaccine clinics to not cause future mistakes. read more

My experience with this clinic was horrible. I asked to speak to the vet Dr Foglia prior to my cat's appointment, but was told he didn't speak to patients prior to seeing my pet. I booked the appointment with very specific reasons for the appointment/surgery, but when I arrived, the staff had no idea why my cat was there. I reiterated the situation and asked if the vet was available to speak. I was told he was not in yet. I had to leave my cat hoping that someone would actually read notes. My cat was spayed 6 months ago at a different spay clinic. 4 weeks ago she went into heat - I was told Dr Foglia was the best reproductive vet for dealing with the issue of remnants of ovarian tissue left in the uterus. So I called to make sure that he understood the issue prior to making the appointment. As I said, I was told he won't speak to patients prior to their appointment. Yesterday, I took my cat in for the surgery - I was called to pick her up early in the afternoon. When I arrived, I was told by someone (I assume a vet tech) that the vet didn't find any ovarian tissue and she was sewn back up. I was charged for a spay and the invoice said my cat was spayed. Not the case. I was told by this vet tech that a cat will remain in heat for up to a year after a spay. I was told that the estrogen remains in the system for up to a year, so going into heat is normal. I was told that she isn't really in heat. Further, I was told that if she was in heat recently, her vulva would be swollen and it wasn't so, according to the tech, she hadn't been in heat recently. Believe me when I tell you that my cat was just in heat (seems to have come out Monday night). How do I know? She howled, rolled on the ground, put her butt in the air and cried, discharged in her box, didn't want to eat, and was constantly rubbing on me. But the tech tells me this isn't really my cat in heat. When I said that her constant howling and crying kept me up at night, she said lock her up in a room. She was rude and condescending - "splaining" to me what I apparently am too dense to understand about how cats go into heat in spite of being spayed. She also told me that there must be a remnant of ovary left in her, but at the same time told me the vet found no remnant. The vet never came out to talk to me or explain what he did or didn't find. Instead, I got a snarky explanation from the vet tech. And, she informed me I must keep my cat away from her sister for 14 days. As I said, I specifically went to this doctor due to his reputation as someone who could deal with the unusual situation my cat is facing. Instead, I paid for another "spay" and to be insulted by staff. Now, my little girl has been opened up twice in the past 7 months, and it appears may have to undergo yet another surgery. If this vet couldn't help, didn't want to help, or would have taken the time to talk to me prior to surgery, I could have avoided a pending third surgery. This was a horrible experience that I do not wish on anyone else. Take your animal elsewhere. update on 9/28 - I left out of the above review that when I originally called to speak to the vet and make an appointment, I told the clinic that my cat only had ONE OVARY and ONE KIDNEY and that she was in heat after having been spayed 6 months ago. I wanted them to know this was an unusual situation which is why I wanted to speak to the vet before bringing her in. When I arrived last Tuesday, I repeated to the intake person again that she had ONE OVARY AND ONE KIDNEY. The intake person seemed surprised by that information even though I was very specific when I made the appointment. He took notes regarding the need to go back in and EXPLORE to see where there might be a ovary remnant left. As I said, the vet tech told me the vet didn't find anything. However, I got the notes from the surgery which stated "Scout presented for routine OHE surgery. A scar and spay tattoo were noted indicating prior OHE. After general anesthesia, the abdomen was prepper and a ventral midline incision was made. On exploration, no ovarian tissue or uterus could be found...." But, the new scar on my cat was tiny, suggesting that there was no EXPLORATION done, which is why no remnant was found. The vet didn't even bother to ask "why is this cat here when she has already been spayed?" - a simple phone call to me would have answered that question. Finally, my vet at Center for Animal Wellness looked at the notes - she realized that this Dr Foglia gave my cat Metacam - a black box drug - which means that veterinarians SHOULD NOT prescribe this drug for cats - but especially not to a cat who has ONE KIDNEY, as the drug can cause kidney failure. But Dr. Foglia didn't bother to note that my cat only has one kidney - he didn't even see that apparently since there is no mention in his notes. I called last Wednesday to speak to the vet - he wasn't available. I asked for him call me and tell me what happened. He has never called me back. read more

Even went there and they did a 350$ blood panel, and they STILL HAVENT WRITTEN THE SCRIPT. Now my poor dog is going crazy. I recently purchased a puppy package here and now scrambling to find another vet to see my puppy. If that's ALL you are looking for in a vet, then this would be a good place. They were nice and helpful at the time of the appointment; however, I do not recommend them because if anything goes wrong they will not be there to help. My almost 11 week year old puppy has chronic and severe diarrhea (likely coccidiosis for reasons I know of) and I called 1 minute after they opened to make an appointment- I was told they did not have anything for 2 weeks and to reach out to Maxfund down the street. I was hoping to find a vet that I could stay with and would work with my dog but being sent to other vets because they are too booked is not what I hoped for with my veterinarian. I can see from reviews, this is a concern of others as well. Be prepared to hop around to other vets if your dog has an issue or emergency. read more

I had a bad feeling the minute we walked in the door and we should've listened to our gut. The way they handled our dog even when we were in the clinic was a red flag. We noticed a terrible job as soon as we got him back post operation.We tried to make sure we followed exact instructions and couldn't get any follow up from the staff when we had questions. About a week later we decided to take him to a reputable vet and they were horrified with the neuter job that this place did. We ended up having to have him sedated again so that we could remove the stitches and fix him up. The VEG off hampden is a much better place to go. The only upside to this shit show of an establishment is the pricing. Do yourself a favor and take your companion elsewhere to get the job done properly. Would rate 0 stars if I could. read more

I do not recommend going to this clinic if you truly care about the wellbeing of your pet, especially at end of life. My best friend was under the care of Dr. Cotter, who was phenomenal. However, the clinic's customer service needs serious work. The week before my dog's final moments, I called multiple times and left multiple voicemails begging to speak to a vet regarding my dog's declining condition. I never received a call back, even after my dog's ashes were delivered (through private euthanasia/cremation services) over 48 hours ago. This was the absolute worst first pet loss experience. Save your heartache and go somewhere else. Pets are family. You should provide the care that you would want for your own family. read more

I took my dog there to get fixed. They did not do the surgery and I understood why. I accept that fact. I have used this vet on multiple occasions and had amazing experiences. This time was not the case. When scheduling the appointment I told the receptionist multiple times my phone number had changed and still she did not change my information. I was not even given pre-op instructions. When showing up with my dog I was met at the door with them showing me a bill over 600 for another procedure they wanted to do. It caught me so off guard. My husband and I like to have time to think over everything before we say yes. When called an hour and half later by the vet tech to tell me they could not do the procedure, I was told they did not give my dog sedation. When I picked him up I initially was ignored by the receptionist. After paying and waiting for my dog I was approached by a vet tech. With others in the waiting room I was lectured on the collar my dog was in. There were exam rooms open that we could have had that conversation in. When I finally got my dog, he was clearly sedated. It wasn't until 10p that night that my dog actually started perking up and started resembling his normal self. After the public humiliation, getting caught off guard with a surprise procedure and clearly a lack of communication; we will not be taking any of our animals back. read more
