Solid old school deli. It's a little rough around the edges which adds to the ambiance. The important thing is the food is very good. Nothing fancy or overly creative which is fine by me. Just basic deli fare done well. Today I ordered the Sloppy Joe Sandwich. Roast beef and turkey piled very high with cole slaw, Russian dressing on rye. Excellent. This is an old school deli that has been around for many years. I have gone here many times over the past 10 years and would say it was 4-5 stars in the past. However, this business was recently sold. The new owner Sam, seems to always trying to multi task but can't do one thing right. Even though some of the older workers are still there, it's now a crap shoot if you will get a good sandwich. Also half the coolers have drinks and food in them. Not a good sign. read more

So so so happy with this place. We're visiting and chose this because it was close to our hotel but they did a PHENOMENAL job!!! We got a lot of different things and each thing was good. Soooooo gooood. I asked for an Italian combo but here it's called the TORPEDO which adds hot ham to the combo. It was very hearty and the bread was soft. Everything was perfectly proportioned. The staff was warm and hospitable. I will definitely come here again when I'm in town. read more

Fantastic sandwiches and great selection of chips to go along with them. Staff is very friendly and always has a suggestion if you can't decide. My go to is Chicken Salad with Bacon Lettuce and Tomato and it's so good every time. I get lunch here at least twice a week and I'll continue to do so. read more

Well I'm not a picky person so I let the fact that the prosciutto was old and too hard to chew go until I got a piece of very hard and pointed plastic in my mouth almost chipping a tooth. I let it go because I was starving and sure enough on the second half, a second jagged shard of plastic... So that's the end of that. Sucks because I was glad we had a deli close by. Hands down, the best taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich in a 10 mile radius. You can get it on a variety of rolls, but I suggest using the everything bagel. As evidenced by the picture, the sandwich was so hefty it nearly tilted the bike when I placed it in the saddlebag, so I took a quick bite out of that beauty to try to level the load before motoring off. Service is prompt and friendly. Great selection of drinks in the cooler. The chicken cutlets are excellent, and all the side salads are tasty. I have not tried the catering, but will come calling on Max's for food during the fantasy football draft season. I went into Max's tonight to order a few sandwiches for dinner and to get some potato salad. I ordered two Italian heroes, a turkey sloppy joe, a grilled chicken vegetable wrap and the potato salad. The turkey sloppy joe was a massive sandwich with piles of delicious turkey, cole slaw, Russian dressing and soft rye bread. Awesome Sandwich! The potato salad is as good as my mother's God Rest her Soul. My daughter didn't like the chicken wrap at all. She said the chicken was crappy like premade stuff from Shop Rite. Ok that's a negative! Great deli in a large strip mall. I was heading to work and pulled in due to traffic on 23N. Say the neon signs and decided to give this place a try. It was around 1pm and it was quite busy inside. I waited about 10 minutes in my car. They work quick. No line by the time I got in. Ordered the Landmine. Great portions of meat... almost too much for my taste but I was hungry. Food made with care. I am thankful that I work so close to this gem of a deli. The specials every day are fantastic. It's a tough choice of what to get. On what planet do you pay $9.51 for a turkey and cheese on a roll with a small bag of chips? Obviously right here on planet earth, rt. 23 to be exact. My issue is not with the sandwich. The sandwich was ok,not great,but ok. At that price I would expect a giant sandwich(with extra meat) maybe with a pickle or small cup of coleslaw thrown in. This was my first visit to Max's Deli. It was noon on a Wednesday. The tiny store wasn't too busy but unfortunately I had the luck of getting stuck behind someone who ordered a whole lot of food. I placed my order after a 15 minute wait. I enjoyed my roast beef wrap special with beef barley soup while listening to Bryan Adams, U2 and other 80's tunes as well as the owner's own rendition of the chorus section.
