Small donut shop that is EXTREMELY busy, and for good reason, they have great donuts! We got there around 10:30 and there was a line almost out the door. Everyone was ordering a dozen donuts or more, my wife and I just wanted a couple for breakfast. I got chocolate with sprinkles, my favorite, and these donuts are the kind where they glaze them and then put the chocolate on, so it was extra sugary. It was almost too much for me, I was starting to get a sugar headache after just two. My wife couldn't finish her single order of donut holes. They also had some good pigs in a blanket, called smokeys, with cheese and beef sausage. It was pretty good, the donuts are just too dang sugary for me. Great little donut shop down the road from my house in Allen. My dad recommended it to me after he heard about it from work. This has been our go-to donut shop ever since. Definitely recommend going between 7-8am while the lines are shorter and before they run out. The chocolate donuts and donut holes are to die for! My step mom gets the cinnamon roll. This place is good to go and enjoy breakfast instead of just going straight home, people watching at its finest. If you are driving through Allen, definitely take a detour to this gem! The donuts have changed! What used to be a pillowy, fluffy donut is now super dense and heavy. We couldn't even finish one. I'm not sure if it's ownership that's changed or the recipe but these are not the Max's donuts my kids and I have enjoyed for the past 10 years. read more

Had to update this since my first review. My last two visits both let me down. So while they have the potential to be amazing, they are inconsistent. Today I arrived before 7 am and the beef rolls were obviously old. They were cold, hard, and weirdly metallic tasting. Microwaving didn't improve the flavor. The donuts were fine. Last time the donuts didn't taste fresh. I would still recommend if you're in the area but I'll stop going out of my way for these. read more

Today is Christmas Eve, which should obviously be a very busy day for a donut shop. When we arrived at 9:30 they had already run out of literally everything but chocolate glazed and regular glazed. I should have known something was wrong when there wasn't the typical line wrapping around the whole store. I run a fast casual restaurant myself that also features inexpensive baked items. I have been going to Max's donut shop since moving to Allen several years ago. This place is THE best donut shop in Collin County. Hands down! I have brought Max's donuts to work several times and actually have a few girls hooked! You know its good when someone is willing to drive over 30 minutes for donuts! Sound crazy? Nope! I enjoy going to Max's donut shop since I found it two years ago. This has got to be the best donut shop around DFW. You know it's a good place when you wait in line on a Saturday morning behind 15 - 20 other customers. But the line moves very fast and it's well worth it. There is NO reason to try another donut shop. Probably ten cars in the parking lot while others had zero or 1-2 cars max. Line of 5 people waiting to order or being helped in front of me. The line went very quickly. Seems everyone knew what they were there for. I have been twice before and based on those times, my favorite is the glazed donut. Other times the cinnamon rolls were sold out, but not today I got chocolate glazed, glazed, a cinnamon roll, an eclair and a maple bar. The glazed was warm and melted in my mouth! My son was freaking out at my reaction because i am a really healthy eater. Max's is the only spot I splurge on donuts. I didn't eat them all, but sometimes you just have to be adventurous and have a donut taste test. Today was that day. My favorite is still the glazed but the old fashioned looked good and i will have to try one next time. The smell is heavenly. All their products are massive. Its worth it! I have been born and raised in allen and love love love the donuts from Max's. I don't eat donuts from anywhere else and even got my husband caught onto them where he also doesn't like donuts from anywhere else now. However, they need to change their open hours if they are constantly out of donuts at LEAST an hour before close. I'm sorry but we've never had the problem of not having even glazed donuts at least a whole hour before close before they changed over management. I do not know the process of making donuts nor do I pretend to know it but I almost don't bother going up there anymore if it's past 10:30 and they close at 12 because I just get mad they are out a whole hour before close. I've asked why they don't make more and their response was "we throw away so much during the week" (which I don't fully believe because even during the week they run out). Max's is by far the best donut place in Allen! Their donuts are cheap and huge. I recommend the classic glazed, chocolate glazed, and the maple glazed. The best part is that they all sell for 65 cents each! They even have donut holes, glazed and chocolate glazed. Their donuts are airy and dense at the same time, with the right amount of glaze and the perfect size. Make sure to come sometime in the morning because people tend to pile up in the store. I don't understand how this business thinks that their business is better than everyone else's. By 9 AM, they never have anything that you want and they use the excuse of, because we are that good. You might be 'that good' to other people that don't know better, but if you have no product to sell, what is the point? I personally don't even like their donuts that much. Too much icing. Too much sugar even for the youngest child. Tried their kolaches for the first time today. The meat that is been sitting around since 5 AM was very tough. Absolutely fantastic donuts. I've eaten donuts here for over twenty years. (Fave is the chocolate glazed) I played hooky from morning classes to eat here in High School. And now I sneak up there on Sunday mornings with my kids. They haven't changed what they do in two decades, and there is no reason to. Max's Donuts are just perfect. Truly. P S. What can I say?!?! These are hands down the best donuts around. Fluffy, sweet, delicious!! There is usually a line out the door, but the line moves fairly quickly. The later you wait to go, the less options you will have. But, I have yet to have a donut there that i did not like. They also have kolaches that are delicious as well. They have wonderful donuts, but they do not know how to plan according to their hours. At 10:45am they run out when they are supposedly open until 12. They have to kick an entire store of people out bc they didnt make enough. It's not a gimmick to get you to come in, it is very poor management of the business. Went to her donuts on my way to work. It's 10am and they close at 1130am. No glazed donuts or choc glazed, etc. I asked if they were making more and the lady said no this is it.
