Our server was nice and did his best for a large crowd, honestly he was perfectly fine and this review should be no reflection on him. The burger meat was good. Potato skins are tolerable, and the ranch is made in house. Otherwise, this place is terrible and consistently the worst dining experience I have ever had in Muskogee. It takes at least 60-90 minutes to get your meal, which is usually wrong, and good luck getting drinks or appetizers. They are always woefully understaffed, and typically the staff seems like they hate being here as much as we do (tonight was an exception, staff was friendly). Included a photo of the updated fries in case you think they're the nice looking ones from years ago: nope, they're great value "McD's" knockoff fries. Thankfully this last experience convinced our group of friends to never return. Don't make the same mistake as us. If it was a single night of this, I'd give it a pass or wait and see. The food was mediocre to slightly blah, even for bar food. The queso was poor quality (was it real cheese?), and the chicken breast was so over cooked my wife couldn't finish it. The service was good, and they have a great patio where dogs are allowed. We were looking for a dinner place where our dog was allowed and they checked those boxes. Max's/Maxine's is an "ole' reliable" when it comes to the traditional bar scene. Great place to dance the night away with locals. But they've really stepped up their game with the restaurant side of the operation. The food is truly outstanding. The burgers rival any burger in Muskogee. The fried mushrooms are hand breaded and not just fried from frozen, and they are worth getting every single visit. The ranch is top notch. They offer a really delicious Saturday brunch menu, but I wish they would do Sunday brunch. They decorate big for Christmas every year, which is really fun. And they have a seasonal photo area that always has a cute backdrop. The only real struggle with Max's is consistent service. It seems like they are always short-handed and very slow. They take reservations for big groups, but don't actually use them, so you still have to wait, which defeats the purpose of reservations. But I'll continue to go for those fried mushrooms! read more

I'm giving 2 stars because the food served was "edible" but that was the BEST thing about it. If they put 1/10th of the effort into the food or the customer service as they do on the decorations... maybe it would have been a better experience. There were several restaurant choices in town I could have picked from for lunch and sadly I chose this place. If you are traveling through town... Choose somewhere else. Two tables in the restaurant the entire time I'm there and I never laid eyes on my server unless it was time to order or time to pay she was outside smoking the entire time. I would compare the food to something you would normally get in a cardboard box handed to you through a drive-through window. Maybe they were just having a bad day... Regardless, I would not recommend or ever go back. You would do much better and be less bitter about the overpriced menu item that you just paid for if you will just go through that drive-through and save yourself the disappointment. read more

Be very careful with this car shop because they are cheaters. I took my car there for a transmission replacement, as the transmission I bought was used they didn't give me any warranty, not even on their job, so they did it in a very negligent way. At that time I was hand-tied because my car and the very heavy transmission was at this shop already. Next day after we picked the car and brought it back home we found a big puddle of transmission fluid, we took the car back. They said it was just some fluid remains from the transmission change but it continued happening. We decided to take the car to another shop specialized in transmissions. They said Max Garage forced the transmission in and broke a connecting part at the top of the transmission, this big crack was causing the leak. Of course, as they knew we didn't have a warranty they "worked" on my car in the worst way possible. On top all of this, they returned my car with the worst cigarette smell and took me forever to eliminate. Terrible experience with people with not work ethics! read more

Never had their food, but they've always had great bartenders who take great care of you and offer great customer service. The remodel and back patio area kinda bum me out because I loved the grunge "yeah this was a garage before" vibe which had its own unique charm, but the beautiful wooden bar and outdoor sitting area just give it a new kind of charm. I wish more people would appreciate local businesses and give their patronage to their neighbors more often, so please stop by and at least check out the gorgeous interior and garden-esque exterior and have a drink or two or take a spin around the amazing dance floor and enjoy the new and improved Max's before you head to a place that belongs to the corporate world. read more

My husband and I went there for the first time tonight and we really enjoyed it. We actually would give them a 4 1/2 and not a 4, but we can't mark that on the above stars so we'll just type it here. We had their fried mushrooms and really enjoyed them, we'd give them a four. He had the Big Max which was a hamburger patty with a hot link, bacon , and cheese served on Brioche Bread with housemade Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce. He said he would give it a 4 1/2 and the food combination tasted really good together. We both ate their French Fries and would give them a five (5.). They lad a light crisp crunch to them and they were very good. I had an Old Fashioned Hamburger served on Brioche Bread and I'd give it a strong four (4.). It was definitely filling too! Also, they had the restaurant decorated up for Christmas and it was BEAUTIFUL! I have some pictures I'll share, but it's even prettier in person. I'm so glad we went and we'd go there again. Max's did a great job with the remodel(rustic meets industrial). Mom and I dropped in for lunch today. We sat in one of the booths comfortably.(Thank you for having the railings to help people get into the booth.Mom got a kick out of the tables and chairs on the floor). For lunch we had diet and regular dr pepper, and the special of the day which was lasagna, side salad with choice of dressing, and garlic bread. I would loved a little more sauce as part of the lasagna, there was plenty of meet and cheese content. As to the garlic bread, I would had liked to have seen a baguette style garlic bread. The side salad was nice.(I had ranch with mine, mom had honey mustard with hers). On the way out, mom made a comment to me how gorgeous the garden area with the fountain was.(great job with that area, by the way). Coming around 1215pm made it a great time to come, and enjoy the calmness and made for a lovely dining experience. Great Job over all, can't wait to see how the specials involve. read more

We went here on st. Patrick's day 2021. While I understand st. Pateicks day is busy for any bar why would you under staff your bar on today of all days. AND there was a show too! We showed up an hour and a half early so we could eat before the show (we called, we were told you had corned beef and cabbage on special) we sat for 30 min. Before my husband got up and ordered us a drink at the bar. We told the bartender we didn't want to start a tab because we were hoping to get a meal at our table. He said ok but still no service. When my husband went up to the kiosk where the waitresses were and asked for a couple menus he was told we will be with you in a min. 15 min. later my husband is pissed, theres no time for a full meal now before the show. We settled on sharing cheesy ranch fries which were great. Shame on management for putting your girls through that and shame on you girls for being irritated at the customers because your management sucks enough to put you through that. read more

Great food, good bar. I have been a few times, defintley excited that they opened back up for lunch. Mixed reviews for waitstaff. I asked what beer they had on draft only for the waitress to come back 5 minutes later and tell me that they don't have a draft. I ordered bottled beer, friend ordered Appletini and wife ordered Dr Pepper. Everyone got carded, including my wife ordering the Dr Pepper who is old enough to be waitress mother. I recommend eating/drinking here. Overall the experience is good but I suspect they have some turnover in staff. read more
