    My Stationery Store Day haul

Love this stationery store in Westport! They have everything - I mean everything - stationery related: pens, paper, postcards, writing kits, washi, stickers, pencils, and the cutest shop dog Lucy will greet you.

I've been to this lovely and cozy shop a few times and can't recommend it enough. Especially now with holidays coming: Cute gift wrap, tags and even a few ribbons by the yard. The greeting card designs are hip, clever and charming. Truth be told, I love way too many of the notebooks/planners and pens/pencils. Bonus: The super nice and helpful staff make it even harder to leave. You should go soon!

My partner and I had a fun time perusing the greeting card selection in here and giggling at all the wit... Cards for truly EVERY occasion ("Congrats on your divorce!" "Way to go for setting those boundaries!"). The shop itself is GORGEOUSLY laid out and so inviting. We met the owner, who is joyful and clearly loves what she does. Beyond greeting cards and stationery, they sell journals, paper pads, wall art, beautiful wrapping paper/gift bags, decal stickers and more. We were fond of "Frankie the Stag" up on the wall. Bought a few greeting cards and stickers and will be back as life occasions call for freshly hilarious cards!

Anyway - Birdie, the owner, lives a life of passion and conviction, which she pours into her craft. You can see it in her candles and you can definitely see it in the studio. The candles - which are available in a variety of scents - come with a clever name and backstory. Light and citrusy scents - they're there. Wood and leather - oh yeah. Vanilla - now we're talking. At the time of this writing - the business announced it is temporarily closing its studio to customers, so it can focus on online orders. Good for them. If you're in the Kansas City area - you can find their candles in local stores and boutiques. If you're out of town or just a local person who doesn't want to be social - you can order directly through the Effing Candles website.

This will definitely get my service. The candles were so delightful. I took pictures of all the ones I am coming back to get. My daughter had so many questions on how candles are made & Birdy (owner) did so good at explaining it to her. T The prices are reasonable & the names were super clever. Besides the parking/walking, everything was amazing. I will definitely be back!

I was able to get some awesome incense and trinkets. I attempted to squeeze myself into some tiny jeans on the sale rack! I got them on. lol I just couldn't walk. I think they were in the 0-2 range. If you are that size, they have 2 cool pair of jeans on the sale rack! I found a rad pair of overalls which I wound up purchasing and a rad, bucket hat too. The couple (I'm assuming couple but a man and woman) running the place were very nice. I thought all the prices were reasonable! My overalls were the highest item but I think they were around $50. My cool bucket hat was only $11. A box of incense cones were $1.25- $2.00. I'll definitely be back in!

If you want to remember the glory days of the 60's & 70's pop on in - they still exist here and challenging the current day status quo is more important now than ever before. You can get you a Deadhead sticker for your Cadillac or VW Van, the coolest hippy clothes for the next festival, incense by the bucket load, candles, art - mass produced and locally created, a room full of vinyl and every inch of the place is filled with something more cool than what you were just admiring. I picked up a few stickers and a zine as gifts. I'm not sure why it's been so long since I was last in here, but any trip to Westport going forward must include a stop in to recharge the soul and pick-up something to enjoy or to gift. Long live It's a Beautiful Day and all that it represents.
