We did get a second opinion...and guess what? He has one cavity...not 8. Also, only a filling is required to fix this ONE cavity, no caps necessary. I had a bad feeling after leaving this place and being told my child, who brushes his teeth twice daily and has a very healthy diet, needed surgery and to be put under anesthesia. I'd hate to think a doctor would lie about a child (a 4 year old at that) having to get extensive work done. Thank goodness I went with my gut because if not his healthy teeth would have been ruined and he would have had to have a very unnecessary, stressful and pricey procedure. I never write reviews but this situation involves my child. I'm not sure if this was out of ill intent or incompetence but either way I felt something needed to be said.

My children are relaxed and comfortable in this totally kid friendly environment that Dr. Malek and his staff have created. They understand that kids are not big people in little bodies. Kids need treated as kids. The staff take time with the kids to teach them proper oral care techniques. We travel approximately 75 minutes to utilize their services and will NOT take our children anywhere else. Yes, it is a commitment of time to travel but it is an investment in their oral health. It is also an investment of money as our dental plan is out of network for Dr. Malek. None of this matters to me for as a parent, I want the best for my children and that best is Dr. Malek. My children have experienced routine dental checkups and cleanings there for the past 3 years. My older son had to have one small filling which we were allowed to stay with him while it was done. He never flinched for the oral numbing injection or for the drilling. He was very comfortable while he watched a Christmas video. My other son underwent extensive repair from misdiagnosis from another non-pediatric dentist that required conscious sedation, root canals and crowns. We had gone to Dr. Malek for a second opinion and never went back to this other dentist. As a critical care nurse, I felt totally comfortable with the monitoring of my son during the conscious sedation. My son was appropriately monitored by an anesthesiologist with the appropriate monitoring equipment while Dr. Malek focused on the oral procedures. My son went to sleep in my arms and woke back up in my arms. We received a check in phone call that night by the anesthesiologist and the following morning by Dr. Malek himself. My only regret is that I did not take my sons to Dr. Malek sooner. According to my sons, "Dr. Malek ROCKS!!!"

I needed my child seen, and since she is not very well educated in the medical field I told her I've been in the medical field for over 20 years!!!! We have done this, a parent is not going to sign over guardianship for a vacation!!!!!!! The whole office is set up for kids, from the waiting area to the special dental chair. There's a TV overhead, cool sunglasses to avoid the bright lights, etc. Even a plastic dental mirror to take home and use on your stuffed animals. We have to go back for a little work, and K is excited. All of the staff are great, and it was a very good experience. Okay, except for my finding it- there are dozens of dentists in Clintonville, all named something like "Clintonville Dentistry," so check carefully.
