This place is dirty and horribly ran. The theater floors are sticky.The bathrooms are disgusting. The seats are broken and outdated

I saw the godfather here a year ago. As many have said , this theater needs help. I haven't seen any rats crawling around. I've seen popcorn on the floor and no one sweeping it up. They were showing Casablanca around the time they reopened after the pandemic , I came to purchase tickets here and there was no one at the front to sell my a ticket. Understaffed ? Two guys at the snack bar had to scan my phone for the code. As many have said , the auditorium seats are ripped and worn. Floors are sticky. Audio is way too loud. it's true what many have said. Somebody needs to improve this place or just close it down. If they close it down , it will be sad because the other closest theaters are Brentwood and Pleasant Hill. I know it can be managed better. Most disgusting theater I've ever been in. As other reviewers have stated, the floors are so FU@#ING sticky. From the lobby to the bathroom to the actual auditoriums. Everything is disgusting here. I give it 3 stars because of the good pricing. Very affordable for a family. Now the not so good. Since they reopened after the pandemic, the theater is a mess. The lobby and restrooms are digusting. Not sure if they are understaffed but the floors and counter tops are sticky and gross. They now have the tiny bags of salt for your popcorn. But the bags are kept in a container with the other condimemts. So they get contaminated from the liquids. The theater is not the same clean and nice theater as before. The owner needs to help the managers and employees with providing a clean and healthier workplace. read more

I came here to see a late night showing of Jordan Peele's "Nope" on a Monday night because it was advertised as having Open Captions (subtitles), which is very important for me. I wear hearing aids and have a hard time understanding speech in movies, so I try to see captioned showings whenever possible. I even asked the manager before I bought the tickets to verify that there would be on-screen captions in this showing, and she assured me there would be. After watching 20 minutes of previews, the movie started with no subtitles. My Fiancée went out to inform them that there were no captions, and they said they would take them a few minutes to download the captions and restart the movie. What? You haven't even downloaded the captions yet?!? The movie is labeled "Open Caption" and I asked before the showing to make sure! Since it was already well after 10:00 pm and nobody else in the auditorium seemed to mind the lack of captions, I really didn't want to be the one to make everyone restart so we decided to get a refund and go home. Very disappointing experience, I was so excited to see this movie with captions. Please don't advertise a service for disabled people if you don't intend to provide it. read more

This is Ridiculous 4085 Century Blvd Pittsburg Mayan Theater today June 19, our movie was at 520pm. All teenagers, the Manager was young, unbothered unfazed by my addressing this disgraceful and filthy environment he came out of the office with a mouth full of food, and went to the soda machines, where the floors were overly sticky and trash everywhere, basically shrugged me off. trash overflowed from the entrance popcorn, napkins, and straws were spewed every where all you had to do was follow popcorn trails, I understand this is a theater BUT, no one seemed to be tasked with the upkeep it was horrible. I had to report and take pictures. the theaters all the way to behind the counter where they were preparing our food, And once this theater becomes RAT-infested, they will shut it down, this was so filthy it was unbelievable, sticky floors by soda machines and the majority of them were empty even upon entering the facility. I was appalled I barely go to the movies but when I do I do not expect this sight.. all the trash from front to back was full, and I had to take pictures and send them in. Had forgotten about this theater. Haven't been here in a long time. $6 tickets so much better that the other theaters where kid tickets are over $8 and a kid is 12 and under. Just saw a bunch of bad reviews but I saw nothing wrong with the theater. Hallways clean, theater clean, in fact we had the theater to ourselves. Seats were fine, not the reclining type like at the Brendan but that not a big deal. We ordered popcorn, of course cost more than popcorn should be but either the same or less than the Brendan I'm not sure I don't eat the popcorn. Kids said it was good. But overall I think this is a good theater. We will actually be coming back tomorrow to watch another movie read more

I took my daughter to see the franchise movie Scream VI. The movie time was 7:40 pm. We had the movie theater to ourselves practically. We got to our seats at 7:15 pm, and commercials began playing around 7:30 pm. Two young black females came into the theater to scope out if seats were open between 7:30 pm and the start time. Shortly after the movie began, 5-6 young black females talking loud and with their phones out taking selfies took 5-6 seats along the top row. They were rude. They were not even trying to whisper. They were talking and making so much noise that it took away the enjoyment factor from the movie. I'm a father and didn't want to be rude to these young women, but they made watching the film problematic. A family entered the theater and started walking towards the seats the young women were sitting at, and the young women became loud at this point. I had it. I turned around and said, please stop being disrespectful and talking and making all this noise. One of the young ladies asked me who the fuck I was, and I replied I'm the man asking you nicely to stop being disrespectful and not to make noise while we're trying to watch the movie. They got up and left, only to return and sit in the front. They were all on their phones, clearly not watching the movie and still being obnoxious and annoying. I ignored them since they had no respect and hadn't been taught proper manners or given the belt. I feel sorry for their fathers and their mothers. The amount of embarrassment these young ladies must bring to their family's name is apparent in their behavior. It's sad. Parents can't teach their kids how to behave like decent people in public and not act like wild animals without mature adult supervision. After the movie. I saw 2 of the six young women scooping more films to target. I looked for an employee to express my concern, only to find high school students talking about how much they hate working at the theater. I didn't see a manager. At this point, I wrote it off as I got what I paid for. I definitely will not be coming back to this theater. read more

Maya Cinemas replaced Brenden Theaters. I'd say that overall this is a superior theater compared to Brenden. Location: Right by many stores and many food spots. Generous amounts of parking.l Bathrooms: Clean and always supplied with napkins. They have an air blower to dry one's hands. Food: Movie theater food is always a rip off in a sense whether it's price or taste. They got combos and that's what my family and I go for. We'd get the large pizza with two drinks. Both are refillable. All you need to do is go to someone that is working at the food station and ask for a refill and they will do it. They got butter stations right next to the soda station so you can put as much butter as you want in your popcorn. The soda machine is the one with a bunch of options. Over five different types of cola, root beer, sprite, etc. Ticket prices: 7 matinee. 10 for evening. Service: Never had a bad moment. From the people that take our movie order and give us the tickets to the person who rips our tickets and let's us in to the snack vendors, we've been given smiles, prompt service, and so much more. The screen is huge. The seats are made of leather? All I know is that yes, you may be able to recline, but the reclining ends up hitting the person behind you especially if they got long legs. "The Movies", something about going to a place where popcorn alone costs more than a combo at your local burger joint. All in all there's something magical about going to the movie theaters. Enjoying a movie with others and sharing all the "Ooos and Ahhs" and watching the "Black Panther" and all his awesomeness and watching the plot thicken futher along. The best part of this all is watching a film in a movie theater that you enjoy. "Maya Cinemas" is that theater and maybe a new choice for my movie fix. I'll tell you why.. Wednesday February 21, 2018 Place: Maya Cinemas Pittsburg, Ca Location: 1 Adult Story: Well I didn't want to be the last ones to the biggest blockbusters of the winter. I made self get out of bed, and in Lew of trying something new, I decided that I hadn't been to "Maya Cinemas" in a long time, especially since I got inducted into the "Yelpire". So after browsing the site for prices, I set off to watch the "Black Panther" so I would not be left out of the future conversations that I know I was sure to have with my fellow "Marvel" movie fans and critics a like. Service/Hospitality: I have to say from the box office, till the point I went to the concession stand, I had a pleasant experience. The box office attendant greeted me and had a smile on her face the whole time. After that I proceeded inside and was greeted by the ticket booth attendant, me and this fellow had a brief conversation about my film choice and he gave it a thumbs up in his opinion. I left from him after a bit and then proceeded to the concession stand and was greeted by the concession attendant. The concession is the most critical place in a movie theater for good service, with the money we pay for the snacks I would rather people smile when taking my money. The service was on point here as well and I have to say that "Maya Cinemas" got good service on point. Food/Cleanliness: Now the thing with movie theaters is everything is pretty much overpriced. As a former movie theater employee, I know the reason why. So knowing what I know.... I guess it justifies it a bit. I have learned the "Kids Meal/Combo" $6.00 is always the best option. Yea it may be small but for most people it's honestly just enough and you get your basics, Popcorn, Drink and Candy. Of course some places have variations on combo offerings. I also opted for a "Large Candy" $4.50 as the kids size alone wasn't enough for me. All in all bringing my total to $10.50 and I was pretty satisfied with that and had just enough of everything and a tiny souvenir cup to take home in the process. The condiment areas were pretty clean and we'll kept as well. Overall: I would have to say I had a pretty successful visit at "Maya Cinemas" and I'm happy to give this place a "5 Star" rating. What also feels good about supporting this establishment is the fact they're a small independently owned theater group with only about six theater throughout Northern and Central California. Plus they're pretty competitive with pricing and have reclining seats. $9.00 for 3d movies, yea I will be coming here from now on! read more

This place has stepped up it's game, big time! Quality sound, crystal clear picture, and reasonable prices. We went to see "the" movie (you know, the one that just came out and everybody else wants to see it too) on a Saturday evening and because they were playing it on so many screens, there was plenty of seating right up until the movie start time. Speaking of seating, you get your own leather recliner. They are crazy comfortable. I was way too full from dinner for concessions but the lines were short there too. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. To be honest, when my friends first told me to meet them in PB for a movie, I wasn't thrilled. The last time I was here, it was the Brendan and the movie broke, ha. There isn't a shred of that old theater left. Maya came through and upgraded it to a top of the line experience. read more

I went to see a movie tonight at this theater and was told to go to Theater number 3. I chose the highest level seating area and was immediately disgusted when my shoes started to feel the stickiness of the floor in that whole section like some soda was spilled and dragged and thus smeared all over the top floor! My shoes squeaked until I reached my assigned seat! And then again after the show when I climb down at the opposite end of the theater! I'm relieved that the seat I was in wasn't sticky but I question it's sanitation. Moreover, prior to entering the theater, I went to the concession stand to get some popcorn for the show. I noticed that there was a substantial pile of popcorn on the floor below the popcorn machine which seems to have been there awhile as they were not that busy tonight. This gave me the creeps thinking are these kids sanitizing the floor of the theater at the end of each show? I didn't see any staff ready to come in with brooms and cleaners once the theater lights were turned back on at the end of the show unlike at other major theaters elsewhere. Does the kids staffing the concession stand scoops back the fallen popcorn from the floor back to the popcorn maker once everyone is inside their respective theaters? Usually I love this theatre, for location and because they cleaned up & upgraded a ton after the last pitiful Brenden owners. I try to stay loyal to smaller businesses including a small chain if movie theaters. But today was pitiful. I watched Harriet with literally 1-3 blown out speakers that were popping and locking as bad as some low key fireworks or NY breakdancers. The 1st 30 min of the movie my kid and I were looking for the scene in the movie that could explain the noise. This movie is placed in the 1800's so we were considering the era. Were they shooting 'old timey' guns? What is that? So after 2.5 hr of that mess we tell the manager, Zachary. He tells us the speakers have had trouble all week in theatre #12 and we have done all we can. As a manager, he could have done better than that. My suggestion, don't sell full price tickets to a theatre that boasts amazing surround sound and then have folks deal with popping throughout the movie. Let me add that I have hearing difficulties and loud sudden pops are a trigger so this lessened the actual movie experience for me. I guess Zach could care less. I've been here twice, and I like it very much. Always clean, and have an easy going staff. The best part is the patrons that come through are quiet during the movie. The seats are leather in the standard theater rooms, and are at a comfortable temperature. They also have lemon juice and hot sauce in the food court. The one thing however that would make this place better is the food options. Very limited compared to other theaters. Need more hot foods, and maybe ice cream. The menu also is on a tv, and occasionally changes to an AD, which is annoying while I look at the menu. Other than that nice place. If I could give a negative star, I would. I putchased 4 tickets from Fandango yesterday to watch Shang chi per my kids request. When we went at 2 PM to theater 16 the language in the movie was Chinese with Mexican sub title. I asked a theater staff to help change the ticket time since the movie was showing in 3 different theater at 30 min interval. The staff told me to go to the ticket booth which I did. The ticket booth attendant was trying to accommodate us for the 2:30 showing but the first staff I initially approached came and told me they prefer if customer purchase directly from them and not with Fandango. She told me that since I purchased from Fandango , She cannot help me. I need to pay again in order for my kids to watch the 2:30 show. I asked to be given consideration since there were empty spots on the 2:30 show anyway but she was adamant. I asked to talk to the manager so maybe the manager can help. She said the manager can't help, the manager is me, My name is Marissa. So she was proudly looking at me with finality and since I didn't want to spoil my kids excitement , I just paid again. When I got home I tried to gat a refund from Fandango but since the time elapsed from the viewing time, it cannot be refunded anymore. I paid $104 in total for 4 tickets. If they wanted to be considerate , they can because the most of the movie theaters didn't have much patron anyway. Lots of vacant spots and we didn't mind waiting either for the 2:30 or 3 or 3:30 slot. If you're bussiness is not that good compared to others, shouldn't you try to win more customers ? First visit SINCE THE 90's when it was Brenden Theatres. The nostalgia of many Friday night visits, parents parked in the round-about waiting for movies to end and the ticket line extending out and to the right quickly flooded my memory bank. The façade is what draws your long-term memories to trigger because once you enter, it's a brand new theatre. The lobby is well-lit, tons of lines at concessions and those fancy new Coke machines throughout the lobby. It's a smaller theatre than other locations but they made good use of the space in the front. The seating is a little awkward and would be better located on the far side of the lobby- otherwise, it was nice. The theatre I was in was clean, lighting was good and the sound system was great. The only criticism I have about the in-theatre experience was how far back you can lean in your chair. It was too far back for my liking so I made a conscious effort to keep my seat straight. I can't say I'll make this theatre my regular but when I'm out that way, I'll certainly return for another experience! read more

We've always been happy with Maya Cinemas in the past but sadly it seems to have gone downhill. We went to purchase our tickets at the box office in advance so we could go straight into the theater when it was time. However, the employee messed up the ticket order leaving us 1 ticket short which meant we had to get back in line before the show was about to start. We went to see the 8:30 show A Star is Born in theater 15 at the far end of the hall. The sound did not appear to be working good as it was hard to hear what the characters were saying when whispering. The bathrooms at the end of the hall also did not seem to be kept up. Also, beware of disruptive children at this theater even in R rated movies. A family came in with young children and the children were very loud and obnoxious. The parents did little to get their children to behave as they were even horse playing in the theater running up and down the stairs. It took for the person sitting in front of us to go complain about them being obnoxious but luckily security came in right away and kicked them out. read more

This place is cool, but it is nowhere the best theater around, as they so proclaim. I love the fan-made artwork they have displayed in the lobby. I think it adds charm to the theater. I also love that the seats recline. I think the theater is a little outdated. They have movie displays that go all the way back to March 2015. Even the commercials before the movie were old. It just seemed a little odd to me. Even though the seats do recline, they are leather, which isn't very comfortable, and they squeak like mad. My bf used to take me to Brentwood because this movie theater was run down, but after it became maya theaters, this is our first pick! $10 for an adult ticket. I come here all the time to watch movies. I love coming for a matinee because it's always empty, at least when I come. I love how it's independently owned. Their snack bar is standard, there's no alcohol and as with any movie theater, their candy is overpriced. Not a bad little local theater. Drove out here today from Suisun City (roughly a 40 minute drive) to check out the Dolby Atmos theater. I'm a bit of a film enthusiast and this is the closest theater that has that technology. While the sound was excellent it didn't exactly warrant me driving 40 minutes out here again, but it was quite fun regardless. The ticket prices were great and only $10 bucks! That's a steal. The food inside was quite good too. The White Castle sliders weren't too good, but the popcorn and huge soda selection was nice. The people working there were very nice as well and overall it was a clean place. If I'm randomly out in this area again I will give this place another go! read more
