Went to see a 10:30 am showing of Us. As expected the theater was mostly empty which isn't a knock, lol. Clean, sleek and the seats were very comfortable. In the bathrooms a lot of soap dispensers didn't work which was annoying, kept having to go to a different one, but other than that had a great experience. Plan on coming back. read more

I come here frequently, as I really enjoy watching movies. The people are very nice and friendly, good customer service. They have many movies playing at once, therefore, the movie you want to see is likely playing here. It's large, has multiple bathrooms. Decent food choice, although not the best. Despite the nice things I have to say about this theater, there are many things I dislike about it. It really feels like it needs to be updated. The seats are very uncomfortable and many of them are broken or squeaky. The entire place always looks like a tornado ran through it, which I'm not sure I can really judge, as I always go on the weekend. The movie volume is way too loud, it often hurts my ears, and I don't have perfect hearing. I've never had this issue at any other theater, and I've been to many. And it wasn't a one time thing where the sound may have been accidentally too loud. It is just always way too loud. I do wish they would have a wider variety of food and drinks, as well. Anyways, I like this theater enough, I will continue to go and enjoy my time there, just hope they choose to do some updates in the near future. read more

The speakers are all set way too loud. If you like leaving with a fat headache, this is your place. I've been to every other movie theater in the area and never had a problem. They set the speakers so loud that it's insulting. I'm literally in pain now. Why so loud? You're literally damaging our ears and making the movies not watchable. Incredibly stupid. Not to mention there's zero space between rows of seats and people can kick the back of your seat on accident. No space, too loud, dirty floors, terrible seats. The tickets are cheap which is why I came here in the first place but now I know they're cheap for a reason. The only thing I liked was the soda. Management really needs to do something about the volume level on those speakers unless they want to damage the ears of children and adults alike. What a lack of common sense. This movie theater has become a dump. We went to see Avengers this past weekend and were disappointed beyond belief. There were people smoking in the movie, trash everywhere, theater was filthy, people movoe hopping and being disruptive. And no professional attitude. Can't beat the location or the price to come and see a great movie and the sound system in the Dolby Atmos theater is amazing. I enjoyed coming here from time to time although I wish and hope they join other local theaters in getting a few of the theaters with the reclining chairs and reserved seating... The seats were all cracked and broken in the theater we went into (14), the hallway had a horrendous smell, and the popcorn tasted like it had been popped a week ago. It's nice to know we aren't exactly forgotten! The lobby is SPACIOUS and the whole theatre is clean. The seats are luxuriously comfortable and the floors don't stick to my shoes. They have SELF-SERVE BUTTER and those pick-your-own soda drink machines like in Wingstop! UGH MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT, THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! And as the cherry topper, tickets are pretty cheap! $7 dollar matinee, $10 regular. Tuesday Family days are $5.50 all day. They even have Monday-Tuesday $2 Hot dog days! I worked here from 2004-2006, back when it was the Brenden Theatres. Back then, the theatre was older, a bit run down, and was the "red headed step child" equivalent of the chain. I recently visited Maya for the first time, and WHOA! The theatre can only be described as having received a full body lift. The changes and upgrades start while you're still outside. They only have one box office - instead of the two (with one not being used) of yesteryear. Once inside, the theatre is reminiscient of an AMC Theatre. By that, I mean: large, open lobby with the consession stand being a single row along the back wall before splitting off to theatres. What's a movie without popcorn? Nothing. Stopped by concessions and ordered a popcorn (SO yummy, but I hate that self serve butter is a thing now - I like mine buttered throughout and that's tough with self serve), 2 large drinks (free refills) which you fill out on super space age soda machines with tons of drink options (same as the machine's I referenced in my review of Fuddrucker's), a chocolate covered banana (I know, crazy right?!), and a chocolate covered pretzel for the bestie. Some items they had that I did NOT order included nachos, pickles, and tons of candy! They still use Christie projectors, but have moved into the digital world. Great picture quality, good sound, and the leather seats are super nice. Now that I'm living in the area, I will definitely be back again soon! read more

This place has really turned around from what it used to be. Leather reclining seats and wide walkways between rows fill each theater and everything is super clean, including the bathrooms. Matinee is $6.50 and only before 4pm, not 6pm like most theaters. Overall, I'll keep coming back, instead of making the trek to Brentwood for the Rave, since Pittsburg has gotten back into the theater game. read more

If I could give a minus one I would. I know school is out for some kids/teens but this was the worst movie experience for me and my family. There was a group of kids loud talking through the entire movie! And what parent takes their young kids to see Suicide Squad! I mean 10 or younger age children! I was a single parent for many years and I taught my children to be quite in the theatre!!!! There was no usher anywhere until after the movie was over! We will never go back again!! read more

I am fully satisfied with this theatre. Its clean and its low-key. The prices for everything (tickets, snacks, drinks, etc...) is much more reasonable then the ridiculously priced Century Theatres (Cinemark). All the hit movies are playing at this theatre. No need to head to Walnut Creek to Century Theatres to pay a ton more $. My honey and I come here on our rare one-on-one date nights. We always enjoy it and usually grab a bite before at Red Lobster right across the street. read more

I love Maya Cinemas, I live in Oakley and would rather drive to Pittsburg than go to AMC. I used to go to Maya when it was Brenden Theatres, back when it first opened. Over the years, the quality of the theatre and the amenities started to diminish as did the customers. It needed help! Fortunately, it did! Also, if you like your popcorn with your movie (like our family), you get more for your money here at Maya vs AMC. The cool soda machine is a plus also. So many different beverage options. Can I just say wow!! Reclining seats?? YEAH!! New upholstery?! Yes please! Rave definitely has some competition. This place is clean, but maybe its because its new. I came here on a Saturday night and it was packed, but still clean nonetheless. It seems that the soda dispensers are a real hit with kids. The new layout is much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and its easier to find which theater you need to go to with the clear signs over the doors. The ushers are very helpful and polite. My only complaint is that there were couples that would literally sit on top of each other during the movie, which in turn, would be a distraction for me.. (I don't know how they could improve that). Another thing I found odd was that there were ushers coming in during the movie counting how many people were in the theater, which was also a distraction and kind of annoying. About the reclining seats: Don't recline too far back or else you'll end up in someone's lap. The seats recline, but the leg room is still the same. Funny eh? read more

Oh my, this place sure has changed since Brenden. Overall, that's a good thing! Price: 5/5 $10 per ticket. AMC in brentwood is $10.50 per ticket. Food is also cheaper plus they have those fancy little fountains with the HD screen and all these different drinks...you know what I'm talking about. So free refills. Beats AMC in every way in price. Service: 5/5 People seemed courteous and greeted us with a smile. The staff behind the food stand answered all of our questions and we didn't feel rushed. Quality: 5/5 Leather seats that recline, nice huge HD screens like AMC, stadium seating. Food: 3/5 You can go to the fountain and fill your drink. That machine, which can also be found at fuddruckers and Five Guys, is amazing if you like to try different things. I stick to lemonade and water though. The white castle burgers were gross. Nachos were typical. But the prices were definitely cheaper than AMC. Overall: 4/5 Overall I give this place a 4 out of 5 stars. It was a great theater experience, with nice seats and great screens. We went to go see Anchorman 2 on a Saturday night on opening weekend and there were only a handful of people inside. I hear sometimes the crowd can be a bit louder than the AMC in Brentwood. Have not experienced that on my first visit and I will definitely be returning. Will update this review after a few more visits! read more

So far so good! We hadnt realized it was actually open but we were in the area and decided to finally check this place out since we had seen the construction going on. Going in we noticed the new ambiance of the theatre. Very Spacious, Very Clean, Bright, and Welcoming. The staff is friendly and helpful. The actual theatre is all new, comfy reclining chairs, AC is good temperature (not freezing, like many places), and there is a security guard coming in and out every so often during the movie. I didnt mind that at all. It keeps all the crazies in line. If you had been to Brendan, you KNOW what Im talking about. One thing I really liked was the popcorn! They of course have free refills on the large tub of popcorn and the large drink. They have these new soda machines that dispense any flavor you'd like. For example the regular Coca Cola. You have a choice of having the regular or getting a cherry vanilla, orange, lime, grape flavoring in your beverage. I love having the option and I thinks its fun. When it comes the popcorn you also have options to add different powder flavors to it. Best of all (for me) they have a big Tapatio sauce dispenser!! IT'S GrEaT!! All in all, I am really liking this place. I realy hope it does well. The only thing that I think they should improve on is the promoting. Commercials, flyers, advertising should be circulating. Great movie theater. Nice warm welcoming from greeters and the ticket box and not so warm welcoming from the concession stand. The young man who helped me though was FANTASTIC. Great service skills he showed. I really wish I could have gotten my order with him all at once rather than buy an item and change my mind after! My boyfriend and I came to watch Captain America: Civil War. I had left my wallet at home so we had to use his. He was already in line for the movie as I went to grab once of the promo cups they had (which is a must have!!) and I searched all over my bag for my wallet and came to the conclusion it was left at home. I then told the young man I'm gonna grab my boyfriend's wallet. I came back and proceeded and he just had to match ID with the card and he took care of me. As we made our way into the theater, I noticed we had 40 minutes before the movie started and I decided on nachos. My boyfriend again, gave me his wallet so that we can grab some. I then went back to the concession stand and was helped by a young woman who didn't know whether to help me or greet me or what. I proceeded to HER counter and ordered my nachos, then presented my boyfriends card and she would not take it because he had to be the one purchasing it. I mentioned he's a big iron man fan and that he's inside holding seats as I grab a snack then she said that if he's not present, she can't give me nachos. OKAY. I snatched the wallet and left PISSED. She obviously saw me earlier without him in the concession line, as well as saw us walking together as he saved us a spot. I knew in my gut I should've brought the tacos I made from home with me. I know it's a policy but holy cow. It's not like I stole the damn thing, especially if we walked in hand-in-hand TOGETHER, Made eye contact, etc Also, I'd want to add, the managers (ones in regular clothing) behind the counter were RUDE. You need some customer service and training skills. This is my go to theater. The only money I'll be spending is purchasing tickets. No one wants to eat your shit concession foods anyways! read more

I feel like this place gets a lot of hate, but I'm not sure why. My friends always wanna go to the Brentwood AMC, which is a 20 minute drive, as opposed to Maya, which is 5 min away. Maya has super nice, comfortable seats with large arm rests, very clean interior, a large parking lot that let's you park pretty close to the front entrance. Snacks are way overpriced, but so is every theater in America unfortunately. This place is great, no reason I'd pass this place up for Brentwood or Antioch AMC. read more

We went to see Obama 2016 (MUST see movie if you want to see what makes him who he is) and toward the end of the movie, the screen went blank for 10-15 minutes. After the movie, we talked to the Customer Service rep. He went to find out what had happened. There was a technical problem with the projector, so he gave us 2 free vouchers for any movie at any time. They handled the issue very well. The renovations are wonderful. The temperature was perfect. Usually when I go to the movies, I have to take a jacket in the middle of summer. Not here. It was very comfortable. I was impressed that they offered movies that were not necessarily showing at every other theater in the area. We discussed that with the CS man, and he stated they plan to have more independent movies here. I told him if that really happens, we will probably start going to the movies more than once per year. All in all, even with the little issue, this was a good experience and we will make this our 'home' theater. (Sorry Antioch, Concord and PH) read more

It's a nice movie theater. recliner seats, plenty of leg space, bigger screens compared to other movie theaters, restrooms not too far away from movie rooms. If you need to use it u wouldn't miss a lot of the movie, restroom is on the first floor. Only thing this movie theater needs is an IMAX. read more

MAJOR improvement over the last theater. I am so thankful that they made the renovations. Now I don't have to go all the way to Concord or Antioch to watch a movie. On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, my family and I went to see a movie at the Maya Cinemas in Pittsburg, CA. Approximately 25 minutes into the movie a young boy who was sitting in the row in front of me, began watching a different movie on his cell phone. I was totally annoyed by this as his screen was bright and I could clearly see what he was watching. It was obvious he was not into watching the movie that was playing on the big screen. Prior to watching movie previews there are a few service announcements for audience members. One of the announcements mentions not to use your cell phone. Clearly this was overlooked by the mom as she had no concern that her son's cell phone use may disrupt others. Although, I was bothered by this I kept to myself and did nothing. Later, to my surprise I noticed a Security Officer coming in our row. He politely leaned over to the young boy and told him to turn off his cell phone. I was so happy I couldn't believe it. After the Security Officer left the mom told her son to cover himself and head under a blanket he was sitting on. This could have easily been avoided had the mom had her son cover himself up when he began watching his movie. I give kudos to the Maya Cinema and the Security Officer who took the time to have the child turn off his cell phone. read more

So I have been coming here for a while and I like what they have done with the auditoriums, there rules seem ridiculous. I walked here and brought my iPad because I use it for communication, they made me turn it in and decided to take responsibility for my iPad. I'm hoping management runs proper background checks on thier employees. They don't accept debit if it's a Visa card. Only if it's a master card. And they don't give you even a tiny water cup. Not everyone is comfortable drinking from a fountain, I've seen people mouth the thing before and that's pretty gross. read more

Been here many times with no complaints. However, today went with 3 others to a 7pm showing in theater 6. Movie was great...Unfortunately we were all eaten alive by something (ants, fleas, lice, bed bugs or something unknow). We all have bites on our legs/Stomachs/arms... yup eaten. Called and spoke with a manager named Taylor. Very polite but seemed annoyed. She offered me to come down and fill out a report. Possibly can give me a free ticket as can't refund me today. Told her wasn't trying to get refunded, wanted it checked out as we have bites. She wanted us to come back and would do what is needed to check it out. Nice seats, plenty of candy and other goodies not terribly overpriced as you know theaters like to gouge you there. Went to a 7pm showing of Maleficent last night. A large soda, a large popcorn and a large water came to $18.00. The tickets, we bough them in advance, were $10.00 each. The soda fountains are a thing of beauty. You can pick from a thousand different sodas. Okay well maybe not an actual thousand but still more than is necessary. Staff is friendly and warm. They don't mind if you stay in the theater until the very end to see if there are extra scenes at the end of the credits. I had to ding one star because I feel the need to crank the A/C when the theater is full. It was a little warm for me. read more

My poor mom had to come all the way here just to buy a ticket. We were very disappointed. I used to go to this theater as a kid when it used to be Brenden Theaters....seeing it changed to Maya Cinemas made it really nostalgic for me. Still looks kinda old because it's an old building but it's brighter and maintained well. The popcorn is already seasoned/salted so adding more to it is not necessary. They have butter pumps and a Tapatio pump if you change your mind though. I haven't been here for years so I don't know about the quality of the theater tech. Our movie had a pretty big delay due to a preview change to the movie reel (that's what the theater attendant said). There wasn't any real apology, just a wait until it starts kind of thing. Other than that, A-okay experience. OH yeah, movies are cheaper on Wednesdays! read more

I love Maya for many reasons. The snacks are always good. Service is amazing, cleanliness of things is great. The movies are always enjoyable along with very affordable prices. I came here a while back and there was a young lady sweeping the area near the registers. I asked if I could order a popcorn she rung me up and proceeded to make my pop corn. I had to ask her could she stop and put on a glove or wash her hands. Don't these people have to be food safety certified?
