I really really like Maya. Every time we come in here we get good service and they are pretty quick on getting the food to us. I usually have a daiquiri or a cocktail. In my opinion this is the best Mexican in Shelbyville! Also when I talk to a family next to me they totally agreed with that opinion. The other thing I like is they have a salsa bar so you can pick your own salsas for your chips. They typically have five different sauces on the bar including regular salsa for chips, an extra hot salsa, tomatillo salsa, a mild salsa, and a verde. The interior is plain but everything is clean. We had high hopes after reading the reviews but were sorely disappointed. We went over lunch on a Friday and only one person was working in the front. She tried but could not keep up. The food was lackluster at best. Guacamole came in a tiny bowl that was a side for tacos maybe but NOT for an appetizer. We ordered margaritas and the mango was so bad I asked the waitress to check with whomever made it because it tasted rotten. She just took it and walked away...no offer to get something else or any comment. I noticed after we left that I was still charged for it . Do not order the avocado tacos. Bland lettuce with bland avocado slices and a sauce on the side that appeared to be for French fries. The black beans were inedible. The cheese enchiladas and chicken tacos we just bland. Let me start this review off with the fact that I am not a fan of Mexican food - therefore what I am about to say in this review is kind of shocking. I came here with my mother & coworker to celebrate my mom's birthday - there were about 3 other tables besides us when we got there about 6 PM but one of the other tables that was there had about 6 - 8 people in the party. We ordered margaritas - I got a small raspberry with sugar on the rim - it was strong but delicious! They had 3 sizes of margaritas & about 5 fruit flavors and 3 specialty flavors. The menu has a wide variety and also includes American entrees at a reasonable price for picky adults. I decided with the carne asada - I love the fact it didn't come with a cheese sauce so I didn't look crazy when I asked for it without. I actually liked how the cheese sauce that seems to be abundant on most Mexican restuarant menus was lacking on this one because I AM NOT A FAN ! However I was a fan of this carne asada - it was delicious and I finished my plate. My only gripe is the rice had no flavor but my mom said the refried beans were good. The prices were average for the after covid price hike. The service was good and the place was decently clean. I will be driving the 25 minutes to come here when my mom is in the mood for Mexican since there is something on the menu I actually liked and a few things that I would like to try! read more

This place may seem like any other Mexican restaurant in Milford. But I have to say the owner really makes the place exceptional. The food is authentic Mexican and I have to admit. I don't usually get the salad but they have a Cancun salad that is out of this world. In Milford, it is our go to Mexican restaurant even though we have many to choose from. It's easy to get to. Is this place actually called Acapulco? The sign outside says something totally different. Either way, this place is not easy to find. Came here for a Sunday afternoon lunch and the place was pretty empty (actually I don't think anyone was there besides us). I always order taco salad at places like this because it feels safest. The menu was HUGE. Waaaaay too much on it which, to me, says they can't get any of it right. Food came out super quick. I spent the next 20 minutes pushing it around on my plate and forcing myself to take small bites. I got ground beef which they'd also covered in some funny tasting queso/cheese sauce. Acapulco is a smallish chain of Mexican restaurants scattered around the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. The Milford location is the only one I've eaten at so far. I work nearby, and go there pretty regularly for lunch. It isn't the nicest Mexican restaurant I've ever been to by any means, however the food is fantastic. I would go as far as to say it is not possible to find better Mexican food in Cincinnati. First of all, their fresh salsa is some of the best I've ever had. I have no self control. I'm stuffed by the time the meal comes because I cannot stop eating the chips and salsa. The enchiladas monterey is one of my favorite dishes of any restaurant I've gone to. I am surprised at how cheap their lunch steak fajitas are. I mean, they're made with pretty high quality steak, and are incredibly delicious. It may just be my imagination, but it seems like their beers are a little small. They have tall beers, but they are huge. It seems like there should be something in between. I was there for lunch on a Friday once, and decided, "what the heck, it's Friday; I'll get a beer." Remembering that the regular beers seemed a little small, I thought a tall would be just about normal size. Nope, it's like, Hofbrauhaus liter size. Good thing I didn't have anything particularly important to do that day at work. From my experience the staff have always been very friendly and attentive, at least during lunch hours. Acapulco easily earns 5 stars, and is one of my favorite places to eat. read more

We live so close to this place; not sure why we don't come here more often. It's my favorite Mexican resteraunt in the area. If you aren't looking for it, you may never find it. Located in an older, not so happening strip mall. It's been here forever and could definetely use some cleaning. It's older and dark. But food. Pretty awesome! The service is quick. The food is consistent. Maybe even a little too consistent, lol. The last time I was there I asked for 'light onions' and got just as many onions, if not more, than before. I've been in Cincinnati for about 6 years now, I have lived in Oakley, downtown, and now am in the Milford area. About every mexican I've tried here tastes the same and has roughly the same menu. Maya is definitely the exception, they are our favorite mexican we've tried in the city. Their menu is definitely big, but everything we have tried on it is fantastic. We have been here 3 times so far and every time the food has been delicious. The servings are huge and the prices are your normal mexican restaurant prices. The staff is awesome, always quick service and the servers are great. Only complaint is the outdated interior, an update would help for sure. Each time we have been here there have only been a few other customers, really hoping it starts getting busier because I would be so sad to never eat their taco locos again! read more

Had the worse experience of my eating life at this joint. Not enough help. Not enough people who knew what the hell they were doing. There was actually a line of people attempting to leave the restaurant but no one would let them pay, that was longer than the line of people waiting to take a seat. And...the line of people waiting to get in was about 12 people long. Yep...that means there were about 7 different groups waiting to pay their bill to get the hell out of there. The food and service was incredible. I had the Chile verde and it was very tasty. I loved the salsa and the refried beans. My husband had the enchiladas Cozumel and he enjoyed that too. Also the crunchy beef taco was divine. All in all it was a really cool family run business by a sweet lady. And it was packed which is a good sign for a restaurant that isn't in the most populated part of the city. Highly highly Recommend. I'll be back for sure. Acapulco es delicioso! They have FRESH salsa! You know how I know this? It's spice level and texture is a little different each time but amazing every time. The food is great. I don't know why all the complaints. The food is fresh and authentic tasting. The decor is obnoxiously colored, sure, but the color palette is what we americans really associate with mexican food so, I let it slide. All the staff appears to be mexican as well, they speak broken english, which to me, is a good sign when you have staffers of the same background as the food they are selling. It's an authenticity thing. :) What really makes this place amazing? The incredibly generous portions of good food you can get for basically the same price as a fast food combo meal. That right there, plus the timely service (at lunchtime you can literally be in and out in 30 minutes) makes it a great place in my book. Being originally from the west where good authentic Mexican food is plentiful, I was pleased to find Acapulco when I moved into the area. I had had trouble finding authentic Mexican food. Me and my bf go there sometimes twice a week. The salsa is amazing and fresh. The Acapulco dish is particularly good here. The service is always great. The waiters/waitresses make friends with their customers and one waitress in particular always stops to chat with us. Their tamales are not my favorite but everything else I've had is sooo good! I wish I could post images of the bill I received at the table and the one they told me I needed to pay at the register. We ordered a Sangria. The waitress returned with a very large beverage! We told her we didn't order the super humungous size and she told us not to worry about it - she would take care of it on the bill. The bill came and it was listed as a $9.15 27 oz. drink. 27 ounces! We let it go and proceeded to pay at the register. The there said she saw the drink and she said it was actually as a gallon. First of all - no way it a gallon. She then ups the bill to $17.50 for the drink. At this point I could have refused and only paid what I though we ordered but I knew this person would just take the server's tip. I asked to speak to the owner or manager and she smiled and said she was the owner. She said if I didn't like it I didn't have to come back. Which I won't. And now that the server has her tip I will contest that on my card with my two receipts. My recommendation is never go there. There are enough Tex-Mex restaurants in the area that establishments such as Maya that take advantage of the civility of their customers should not have quite the business as the ones that treat their customers well! read more

If ambiance is your goal, this isn't the place for you. But, excellent service, and wonderful meals are to be had at this spot. Ordered take out and food was ready quickly and came with free chips and salsa (which most Mexican restaurants don't give free for take out). Salsa was GREAT! I had tacos Al Pastor - they were just ok, I would probably get something else next time (they had pineapple chunks in them which I was not expecting). Husband got enchiladas and liked them.
