I put one star because I couldn't put a minus or black hole rating here. I have deal with several lawyers and law offices over the years so I can evaluate them faster than they are evaluating me actually. I put my information into a civil lawsuit search engine that gives you the top choices for your respective case. Three law firms came up in the results, and Mayall Hurley was one. One of their lawyers John Briscoe called me but I missed his call so he left me a message showing his initial interest in my case on the voice mail. He also wrote me an e-mail with a large paragraph saying that he was a veteran and that he was looking forward to speaking to me about my case. His exact words were, "I have extensive experience handling cases just like yours." So, I finally get on the phone with Mr. John Briscoe and I apologize for missing his previous calls and e-mail. He doesn't respond much, not even a grunt of cordiality, so I'm thinking "Ok, he's a lawyer, maybe he just wants to get down to business and depose of the pleasantries." I begin to tell him my story, and he interrupts me very with a cold and brash "Tell me what happened to you?" I go on to tell him my story, some of the story is brash and involved crude, harsh language, and behavior from the other party, and he interrupted me again and said, "Your being vague, so far your story is sounding vague." So, I let him hear the vile and gory language and situations that I was put in, and he interrupts again, with a cold and careless tone and says "Ok aside from the language, was there any physical assault, etc." I go on to explain those situations, the ones involved, and open up about painful details of the trauma. He cuts me off and says, "I can't help you! I'm not a lawyer who can handle that type of case." He switched from night to day from what he was saying in his e-mail and phone recording, and all of a sudden he was not qualified and wanted to end our conversation in .0 seconds. I was very offended by his energy, his attitude, and his 0 compassion for the details that I just shared with him. This was supposed to be a consultation, so I said, "excuse me, can you tell me what about my case or the details that I shared with you allowed you to realize you could or could not take my case?" He continued with a cold, heartless, and ultimately disrespectful attitude, and I made sure that he knew how I felt about it. I said, "If you are going to make people open up and do you the service of hearing painful and hurtful stories, then the least that you could do is give them the respect to tell them why or why not they have a case and give them some bearing on why you cannot help them? If you handle cases like this all the time, and your a veteran as you claim to be, then you should know that an MST case is very sensitive situation and a veteran has paid a price that at least requires the respect for you to honor him as such and to point him in the right direction, even if it is not yours. I am writing this review because many people who get hurt or abused by others don't know how to write or express what they go through so that others can be warned. I warn ALL VETERAN'S and people looking to get represented by a good law firm, to avoid Mayall Hurley Law Firm. Do your research, check Yelp and other "Review" resources, and find people who are going to take care of you properly, and that begins with honor. If a person does not honor you, then they are not worthy of your time. I wrote another review for a law firm in 2016 who did a huge disservice to me and they are no longer in business. This is the season for getting rid of the companies who feed off of good people instead of offering a service to them. To those from Mayall Hurley who read this including Mr. John Briscoe, I admonish you to never treat human beings like they are tissue, disposable, or irrelevant. God is watching you, and you never know when one of His children will come into contact with you, as it did today. He is the real bringer of Justice, and I place you in His hands, in Jesus name. Contacted John Briscoe(lawyer) explained my concerns and issues with a job that was racist and a bully. Got information requested, emails, text and witnesses. Been in contact and entire year. All was good according to my lawyer. Deposition came. I was complete. The defendant had his deposition. I was not aware nor was I told anything about it yet the defendant was present at mine. Once over my lawyer John Briscoe tells me that there was no proof of what I was suing for. Yet people have been fired that I was speaking of and others moved around in the company yet there is no proof that what I was saying was true. Tell me you sold me out without telling me you sold me out.Communication began to fall through, and I was being told by my lawyer that I should have done what I was being told to do by a racists bully. The defendant bullied me so bad I checked myself into a mental institution. I was called picky and the N word on the regular yet that's not an issue cause I stayed. It's a job in California! You can't just up and quit. POC do not get a lawyer for discrimination if they are not of color. Our Voices are never heard and we are all liars. Telling someone not of color your experience is a waste. They can't believe it cause it's so bad. And you end up a liar in their eyes cause why would you take this or that. Tell me what choice I have when they do you any kind of way because they can. Tell me. We may not have the funds to take it to the top but if I come for help I expect some support. Of color? Not at all satisfied with my experience. I've only submitted an inquiry and later had a phone consultation with John Briscoe. Someone needs to fire this guy, or at least get him better sensitivity training. He told me to recount to me what happened when I was sexually assaulted by a customer and retaliated against at work. I did, to which he kept interrupting me to coldly tell me "give me more detail" or "you're being too vague", like he was annoyed with me for not telling him every little detail over the phone or not making it out to be as "bad" as he deems acceptable. When I told him that the customer and I had been friendly before and even exchanged social media, he seemed taken aback and basically insinuated that it was my own fault for being friendly with the customer. This whole event has been extremely triggering, and being forced to go into every minute detail and then be further judged by this man who seems to believe I somehow deserved my assault. Don't go to Mayall Hurley for your legal needs; or, if you must, avoid John Briscoe like the plague. He's in the wrong line of work. read more

Submitted an inquiry via their website a few weeks ago, no response so today I called them. My Friend Google says this firm handles employment law and employment discrimination by public entities but after speaking with one of their attorneys they clearly don't. Totally unfamiliar with discrimination laws, California Penal Code, and California POST regulations that law enforcement agencies are obligated to comply with. My case was totally beyond the scope of their expertise. And it made absolutely no difference that my ex wife and another family member used to work there. The gent I spoke with got a little short with me when I tried to explain things and help educate him as to how the hiring process is supposed to flow. No doubt they're good at what they DO do, as they've been at this location on Grand Canal for decades. But don't hire them just because they come up on a Google Search. Do your research. read more

Took a lot of personal information, wanted a year of my pay stubs, sat on my issue for several weeks then dumped me telling me to hurry with the case because this stuff is time sensitive. Didn't seem to be in a hurry to get back to me. Now they have my work pay stubs. I was building a trusting relationship but really feel they were very leaking in some one I should trust.
