I would have to the best Mexican food I've had in the area. We've gone several times and have never had a bad meal. My wife and daughter usually gets the street tacos. Was passing through the area and noticed Door Dash actually worked in Manchester and found the Mayan House as one of the limited selections. I decided to give it a try. Went for a basic menu. Chicken fajitas and al pastor tacos. Now the chicken fajitas were good, a tad bland and a little salty for me - but overall it was enjoyable and finished. Came with the standard fare - rice, beans, salad, tortillas, chips & salsa. The al pastor tacos were definitely the star of the show. Again a tad over salty for my tastes but very good flavor and texture. Definitely could use the double tortillas found with most "street" tacos. But I would definitely get the al pastor again. Best I have found in Tennessee. Came with a oversized grilled green onion bulb . And an excellent 'creamy' green sauce with a good amount of kick and a green chile flavor. They also sent a red hot sauce and that had more fire to it, but not as flavorful. Definitely a good dinner. Well done. Made this weary hungry traveler very full...and happy. read more

Driving thru TN & stumbled upon this gem. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. If you go definitely order the guacamole. It was fresh made with huge chunks of avocado. Our enchiladas were so packed full of chicken and beef. They were covered with cheese and oh so good. The service was fast and friendly. Mayan House has fantastic Mexican food. We like Mexican cuisine and have traveled in the Southwest. I consider it one of the three best Mexican restaurants that I have ever eaten at. I ordered a beef chimichanga, and my husband had the shrimp chimichanga. Both were outstanding. My husband said it was the best Mexican meal that he has ever eaten. The third member of our party had a chicken chorizo dish, which he said was very good as well. Their guacamole was a smooth and delicious variety. Everything--rice, beans, chips & salsa--was excellent. Mayan House is in a small strip mall. It is not fancy and lacks ambiance, but the food is great. read more

Coming from Houston, TX I'm used to eating great Mexican food. For two years now, I've struggled to find a Mexican restaurant Near Sewanee, TN that can satisfy my taco cravings. Mayan House serves really great tacos, great agua fresca and great salsa verde (green sauce). If a place has really good green salsa for a Mexican restaurant, they are doing something right. I will totally come back to try more items from their menu. The service was good and Beatrice ( our waitress) was really helpful. I just wish that I could've take. Pictures of my meal. I did get three tacos (asada, carnitas, and tripa). The reason why I didn't give it a five is because I want to try more of their food to see if it's as good as the tacos. Driving through Manchester for the first time, we used Yelp to find the best Mexican in town. Mayan House came up as the winner, and it clearly lived up to that. Unassuming store front in a little strip mall, it doesn't look like much, but don't let that put you off. The service was exceptionally friendly, quick, and at our side whenever we desired anything. The food was delivered to our table quickly and was absolutely delicious! (Large portions!) I had the grilled shrimp fajitas and was delighted with all the flavors. A whole assortment of items was served on 2 platters to make up the fajitas, all on point with flavor and cooked just right. The Spanish rice served on the side was bland, but I'll give them that since everything else was so tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable! This was an excellent value for such a wonderful meal. My husband was just as pleased with his meal as well. Make sure to leave room for dessert--I had the flan, and it was the best flan I've ever tasted. It was so creamy and custardy. It absolutely had the homemade taste I was craving. This place is a definite Mexican gem in Manchester. read more
