I chose a spice level 4 out of 6, while my husband sprung for the 5. Both of us were very happy with our choices, as we were provided just enough heat to get our noses running, but not an overwhelming heat that took over the flavors. The sauce was so smooth & rich & seasoned with the perfect amount of cilantro. The rice looked deceptively plain, but was prepared & seasoned well & was the perfect accompaniment to the velvety sauce & chicken. The naan was stuffed with a house-made cheese & plenty of fragrant herbs, making this delicious bread a welcome side to this decadent meal. She did due dilligence and asked if I was sure I wanted hot, and then took my order and delivered some incredibly tasty chana masala that had the combo of flavor, spice, and burn that I love. Deep, rich flavor to the masala, and the garlic naan that I ordered alongside it was also excellent. Server checked on me frequently while I was eating, and kept my water full. We order our food medium hot (3 on a 6 point scale) and often need to blow our noses as a result. Nice to have the tissues instead of using your napkin! We often order Naan with our meals. We favor garlic naan but all of their breads are very good. I think generally the Tandoori Chicken was dry (meaning not wet), but there had to be some sauce on the plate. Bottom line... for us, Ambar India Restaurant provided typical Indian cuisine. And though the staff were super attentive, we found ourselves confused. The food is good and if you live in the area it's a good spot for Indian, though there are many options in the area.
