Excellent! Everything was hot and ready. Tiki marsala is our favorite. We ordered the bread plain and it was definitely plain, not much flavor. Apparently, you can order different flavors. My friend ordered this crispy bread called pompinos to scoop up the rice like dip. I enjoyed the fry bread to eat with the condiments given with the order. We just got home from having the best dinner at Taj Indian Cuisine! We were seated immediately in a cozy booth. The restaurant was decorated in festive Christmas garland and white lights. We are vegetarians and we ordered bharta, matar paneer, and naan bread. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The rice was fluffy and perfecty cooked and the bharta and matar paneer were absolutely savorable. I think a family may run this restaurant. Each person is so very kind and attentive. It's hard for me to pass up a good Indian restaurant, especially when it's cold outside, and you feel like warming up with a good spicy curry. It's even better when your boss is paying the bill. Though even if that wasn't the case, I'd enjoy this spot, another reason Anderson Township, especially on Beechmont, has so much to offer. My boss and I went on a Thursday for lunch. The place itself was very clean and had lots of seating. Their menu is loaded with plenty of tasty options that span the gambit of Indian food. They also have a buffet there wasn't a way to tell when the buffet runs. We started with some samosas, two vegetable and two keema (spiced beef). They came with three different sauces. Both were very delicious, especially the vegetable, and the green sauce had a great spicy kick. For our mains, we ordered a chicken tikka saag (my favorite Indian dish) and shrimp masala, along with some garlic naan. Their spice level is from 1 to 6 and we ordered both dishes at a 4. We didn't wait that long before everything was ready. All of it was very good, especially the chicken tikka saag. It was thicker than many places I've had it before. The masala was excellent too. They definitely didn't skimp on the garlic on the naan which was very light and airy. I'll admit, it's a tad pricier than most Indian restaurants, but it's very good and worth it. I could absolutely see going here again, especially with my lady, because I'm sure she'd like it too. You can definitely get your curry in a hurry here. read more

Sadly Taj just isn't what it used to be. The buffet is gone, seemingly forever, despite still appearing in promotional material and online. Beware! In its place is an expensive lunch service with dinner-looking prices for lunch-sized portions. Sauces are very thin, too. Service could be better. They ran a loud vacuum right next to us while we were eating. This used to be a great, reliable go-to lunch spot. Now it's just not even in the running. Hope the buffet comes back. read more

I know nothing about Indian food and after my first Indian experience, I still know nothing! Other than it's absolutely delicious! Hubs and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for the $7.99 lunch buffet. It wasn't too busy so we were easily sat quickly. The waitresses were so kind and attentive the whole time. Refilling our drinks often and asking how our meal was. As for the buffet, there were a lot of choices! The nan, masala and kheer were so, so good. I really have no clue what anything was that I ate but it was good! It is borderline too spicy for me but it's just something to get over in a restaurant like this. Ordered take out from Taj yesterday. I got some garlic naan and the saag paneer and saag mushroom. I like their saag because it is creamy enough for the right flavor without being overly full of heavy cream so that it is healthier. The paneer was tender and delicious along with the mushrooms. I enjoyed the garlic naan, but wish it had a little more garlic flavor. I love spicy food but had not seen a spice scale to add to my takeout order, so next time I will see if I can get them spicy. The one good thing about Taj like many other Indian restaurants is that you get good portions and your containers are full. So this food will last me many meals :) everything in my take out order was labeled well and packaged properly. I feel bad writing this review because I'm sure reopening after both the pandemic and a fire was a huge strain on a small business . Sadly, this is not the same quality food as before the fire. We used to love this place. We were excited when we learned they reopened. We got our usual (mushroom mater, saag paneer, chicken mushroom and garlic naan). None was near as good as it used to be. The sauce on all 3 of the tomato based dishes was really thin. The sauce on the saag wasn't as creamy as it used to be. The garlic naan also wasn't very garlicky. When Taj closed for the fire, we started going to Royal Taj (which used to be our second choice of the two). Even though Royal Taj is slightly more expensive, we'll continue going there because the quality and flavor is better. read more

The food here is great and the employees are very friendly and helpful. The portions are a good size and the food isn't ungodly spicy (unless that's the way you want it). Many options on the menu can be prepared vegan upon request. Takeout orders are packaged in paper bags which I love as I am always looking to reduce plastic waste, and I find that plastic bags for to-go food is unnecessary in almost all cases. Had some good Indian food here! The mango Lassi was delicious and not too thick. We were a little disappointed with the rice, it was very oily. The chole had bell peppers in it which is unusual but tasted good ! The paneer and malai kofta were both good but more oily and less flavorful than we would have preferred. The Naan was delicious! I am disabled and have a hard time cooking for myself so I ordered 4 dinners that I could eat over the next week. Each and every dish was cooked in the same sauce, every one!! The vindaloo had no more vinegar than the rest and none of the dishes had any spice, at all. I've never had BLAND Indian food but this changed that! Would I say I'm obsessed with Taj? Yeah, probably. I'm there for lunch at least once a week (sometimes more) and for dinner once or twice a month. The people here are incredible- friendly, generous, conversational- and the food is somehow even better. For dinner, I've pretty much settled on the chicken shahi korma and garlic or paneer naan, but I also like to branch out and order something new now and then.
