First time at Taj Mahal Bar & Grill. My girlfriend and I met there for lunch at 11 a.m. There was street parking right out front and I paid on the Cincy EZPark app. My girlfriend is a big lover of Indian food. They brought out the sauces/chutneys and they were cold, straight from the fridge and she was very disappointed in that. We ordered our drinks and neither one of us cared for the drinks at all. I ordered the chai tea and she ordered a manhattan. My chai tasted like milk and sugar and that is pretty much all, I was missing the spiciness of chai tea. Also a skin had formed on top of the tea as if the milk was scorched. She did not care for the manhattan at all, not really boozy and definitely not in the right glass and had a bunch of ice in it instead of none or just a single cube. On to the food. We both enjoyed our food. She ordered many items as she likes to take it home for the next day. I ordered the lamb kabob which is cooked in a Tandoor oven. I am going to say this is the single best dish I have ever had in an Indian restaurant and I would most assuredly order it again. My girlfriend said her meal was good in the restaurant and as leftovers at home as well. I grabbed takeout from Taj Mahal late one evening last week. My food was ready quickly and was bagged up really well to make sure nothing spilled on the way home. Even my mango lassi was in the brown paper bag with the food, but nothing budged in transit. Since it was late in the evening, free street parking was readily available. The inside of the restaurant is MUCH bigger than it looks from the outside. I'd love to dine in sometime. The staff greeted me and got me my food right when I walked in. I ordered garlic naan, mango lassi, and saag mushroom. All were good! The saag mushroom left just a little to be desired, but I'd definitely eat it again. Upon entering, the restaurant is very clean and there are no lingering odors from the food. I was impressed since I've been to many Indian restaurants on both coasts. Dined in on a Sunday evening and had wonderful, incredibly attentive service. Our server didn't let our water glasses drop to halfway! Mixed thoughts from the group I dined here with. The trio of dips were very tasty, they seemed more homemade than others I have had elsewhere. We enjoyed the Keema and Vegetable samosas. The Dal soup was so flavorful but definitely had a kick of spice to it. The Aloo Saag was not the best we've ever had - it tasted like it had gotten burnt from sitting in a pot for too long. Sadly, not a dish we wanted leftovers of! :( I did enjoy the Saag Choley, always a nice comforting meal. The spice levels weren't as high as some in my group had hoped for; my brother love spicy food and asked for a 5/6, but it really wasn't that spicy - he said he would've rated that more like a 3/6. One of my favorite spots for Indian! I highly, highly recommend Taj Mahal if you are in the mood for Indian, they do not disappoint. I've been over 5 times now, and each experience has been wonderful and everything is on point. The service is prompt and friendly, and I love that they play Bollywood movies in there to set the vibe. The food is delicious, I highly recommend the chicken makani if you are a fan of butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. The saag paneer (spinach dish) is very good as well. The naan is fluffy and fresh. I don't usually love Gulab Jamon, but theirs is so good! Try it out! read more

I was in town for a work trip and found myself absolutely starving once I got settled into my hotel. After browsing Uber Eats and cross checking the restaurants on Yelp, I discovered Taj Mahal. To my surprise they are open really late during the week, which was a total lifesaver. I ordered the navratan korma and garlic naan. It arrived fairly quickly and I dove right in. I had some trouble eating it as I forgot to mark that I needed utensils and the containers it came in didn't give me much space. That said, it was delicious. The portion size was fairly big and I had leftovers to enjoy later. My order came out to roughly $30 which is on par with what I usually spend on Indian food. Delicious Indian Food in NKY! I've always been disappointed because I only knew of one other Indian restaurant in NKY, and I've always been disappointed with their food. Was excited to discover this spot! The food - we ordered Lamb Korma, Chicken Mahkani, and Goat Curry. I should have believed the previous reviews - I ordered level 4/6...and it was hot. I probably should have gone for a 3. My roommates both got level 5 as they like spicy, and they said they wouldn't go any spicier - one would back down to a 4. The food was great - the lamb korma was my personal favorite. Garlic Naan was fantastic! The waitress was very friendly, and she did try to warn us she usually doesn't go beyond a 3 spice level. I thought I was braver than I am...but it was still delicious - full of flavor! The place was very clean and pretty empty when we went, but it's right off the street, and downtown Covington is chill. Again, I was very excited to try a place and I was a bit of a let-down. To start, I ordered both a paneer makhani entrée and dal soup. Turns out the cook (older gentleman) simply "forgot" to make the dal soup. I enjoyed the paneer makhani and just forgot about the soup. The dish was a small portion of paneer makhani and large dish of white rice. The size difference was extreme. It's pretty cringe worthy when you ask $18 for a small entrée, and just give a "sorry I forgot to make it" regarding the dal soup I ordered. For the small size of the entrée (pictured), it was tasty and clearly homemade. The issue is with the conservative portion, high price, and just forgetting I ordered something. I routinely get a better panner makhani entrée from a competitor for only $15, with a larger portion and better flavors. It's a one and done for me with this restaurant. read more

We were the only people in there at about 4pm on a Friday. Several door dashers came through. The people working there were nice, but I don't know if any of them were wait staff. There seemed to be confusion as to whether we were there to eat something or just to enjoy their company. Maybe they weren't actually open for dining although no one said anything. We got it sorted out eventually and got both a drink and food. The mushroom saag was good, but the naan was the star of the show. It was thin, crispy, and perfectly garlicky. The bar is extensive to have no cocktail menu. We ended up just going with a beer and a shot of bourbon. No complaints there. I'd probably try it again. read more

This was a new spot for us based off recommendation, growing up eating indian/paki food I always have high expectations. To start off the ambiance is personal, while they still have a bar area too if you wanted to get drinks. They have white cloth on their tables too, if that makes it a little fancier. The service was was awesome as well we were in there with a large party and we were not forgotten about. Now to the food... it was DELICIOUS! the spice levels are 1-6 and 5-6 are for the brave and bold...aka me. it was HOT with a level 5 saag paneer. I loved every bite wanting more. The saag was so well flavored with the paneer and rice. (my personal favorite dish) Naan was some of the best local naan we've had, and we also got daal soup, it was good nothing to write home about though. We also got the chicken mahkani (very similar to butter chicken) it was creamy and dreamy! so yummy highly recommended. 5/5 amazing meal. read more

Best North Indian food. I really appreciate the service and they bring your food in less than 15mins. I am a good fan of the Naan breads I recommend everyone to have one along with the meal. Drove over on a Saturday afternoon after reading the reviews. Upon arrival I realized the space was familiar. My uncle and his friends used to host cocktail parties here. The service was fast and friendly. My Chicken Tikka Masala was full of flavor and tender chicken. When I heated it at work a coworker followed the wonderful aroma to my office. I have to mention that while I was there a person called, after the gentleman answered I could hear him say , yes I speak English. Then the caller hung up.
