Look great, but he naan feels old, the spice level is way off, and the goat is tough. Disappointing.

Here why this place gets 2/5... -1 star = the spice level of my dish is so off that I can't taste the food. I picked 3/6 for my goat curry, and the dish is so hot I can't TASTE the curry, much less imagine someone eating a 6!!! -1 star = the goat is tough (undercooked). I've had super-tender goat from other places, and this is NOT it. My jaws are working way too much with this spice to break down this goat. -1 = my naan feels/looks old. Sorry, but this naan is a little too dry for me to believe it was made recently, much less today. I've lived in this neighborhood for more than a decade, this was my first time going here, and it will likely be my last.

This is a small restaurant in a little down town area in Clifton. When I walked in, everything smelled so good and fresh. It was only about 2 other people in there. I ordered the shrimp biryani with a spice level of 3 and a side of garlic naan. It's true what they say about hole in the wall places because this has to be the best Indian food I EVER Had. The bread was so hot and fresh and very flavorful. The biryani was piled so high and they were generous with the shrimp. My food came out hot and fresh and was piping hot until I was full. This place didn't disappoint and although they may not have had a lot of business inside. The doordash lie kept blowing up

I ordered take out from here through DoorDash. Awesome, absolutely amazing food! I got the paneer biryani and the vegetable momos. Unfortunately they forgot to pack sauce for my momos but it's ok because they were so flavorful! The paneer biriyani had a great amount of paneer in there and was very yummy. I will definitely be ordering from here again and am excited to try other items on the menu (and probably order these two items again as well)!

I stopped in out of necessity as my first choice let me down, and while the signage outside welcomed visitors to the opportunity to serve them, the place didn't give me a ton of confidence inside. However, the food which eventually arrived was the real deal, with an array of fresh-tasting dumplings with the sort of mustard sauce distinctive to Nepali restaurants, and a fresh and spicy batch of chickpeas to go with my fried bread. The menu promised rice with that as well, which I didn't receive, leaving me a bit stuck between being happy to dodge the extra carbs versus miffed that I have all these extra chickpeas. But overall, my conclusion is that this place can produce good quality vegetarian Indian food.

We were in the area so decided to give this place a try. So glad we did because everything was fantastic! The food was as bursting with flavor, very aromatic and a nice change from the usual Indian places we frequent. Highly recommend!

I wont order from here again, twice now i have ordered a lamb dish and it has come with no meat at all. For 18.00 that is not cool. The rest of the meal was alright but at this price I want to get what I order.

Was excited to try this new place on Ludlow. We were definitely big fans of the lamb chops! Very tasty and tender. The chicken makhani was good, just lacked some flavor. We got a spice level 6+ but it wasn't too spicy. The garlic naan was thin and flaky and perfect! Loved the naan. The location is great, they have some unique items on the menu that I cannot wait to try!

While the food was well-prepared and you could tell it was made with care, the Nepalese and vegan-style cuisine just wasn't my personal preference. I'm more of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, so the flavors weren't really what I typically enjoy. One thing I didn't care for was that after finishing our meal, customers are expected to take their own plates and dishes to a bin in the back of the restaurant. I know some people don't mind that, but it's not something I personally expect when dining out. Overall, if you're looking for authentic Nepalese food or enjoy vegan-friendly options, this restaurant is worth trying. It simply wasn't the right fit for my personal tastes, but others who enjoy this style of cuisine may have a much different experience. This review gives credit where it's due while making it clear that your opinion is based on your personal preferences rather than the quality of the restaurant.

Nobody was here (6pm on Saturday), which should have told me to not go, but I starving. It's in the back of a grocery. It was super dirty inside. The floors, walls, just everything was dirty and dingy. My hunger made me think "maybe this will be a surprisingly good hole-in-the-wall situation". They had no music and these two loud beeps that happened constantly. The server was sick and sneezing and sniffing. The food took forever. Plates and silverware were wet; a puddle in the plate. Portions were small. My goat was 50% bones, not meat on the bones, just bones. The rice was dry and clumpy like it was reheated in the microwave. Nan was crispy. Normally I eat very spicy food but my stomach had been weird so we asked for 5/10 and my dude was literally sweating. It said it was a tomato sauce but this was just a bland brown flavor with cilantro. We couldn't eat but 2 bites. Paid full price and left. Luckily she didn't ask how it was because I was prepared to be honest. I think she knew. I didn't know it could get so bad. How are they open? My new low standard will be "well at least it's not as bad as the Indian restaurant in Fairfield!"

Meeting my mentor here for a meal was such a pleasant surprise, this small strip mall location delivering some seriously great food. We each ordered appetizers, and multiple dishes, and between the two of us we didn't have a bad bite. The food was DELICIOUS- I got the chana masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi, all of which were some of the best I've ever had, and my dining companion got the chicken chow mein, which they loved and said was elevated by the two types of onions used and the lime on top. We both are wusses and only got the spice level of two- I personally would go up to a three or four next time, and my dining partner said that they would stay at a two (their spice tolerance is lower than mine). With tip, we paid around $42, which we felt was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The restaurant was very empty on for a Saturday night- when we walked in around 6:00 PM, there was a couple that was packing up to leave, and a few delivery drivers came in to collect orders, but for the most part, it was just us, which needs to be rectified, as Hot N Spicy Restaurant and Bar is truly fantastic. The only thing we could think of was that the location wasn't optimal for attracting attention from potential customers passing by (it's in a strip mall, sandwiched between a Goodwill and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore), and people just don't know it's there? Overall, we can't wait to come back, and we're excited to tell all of our family and friends about this hidden gem so that they'll come try it too!

I came in during dinner hours and ordered chicken korma with garlic naan bread. Red flag: the korma wasn't orange like I was used to seeing from places that do it MUCH better, but I kept an open mind anyways. Gave it a try and my suspicion was confirmed, it was really bland. They also didn't trim some of the sinew, so I got some of that in there. The bread was probably the highlight of the meal, but even still, pretty bland and a lot more toasted than I've seen it normally be. I haven't tried any of their other options or been there during buffet hours, but I figure that if the food is that bland when it's fresh, it's probably not much better during buffet hours. The people there were very nice and the establishment looked interesting, but it's a shame that the food didn't hold up; needless to say, I won't be coming back unless they improve their seasoning...
