Overall rating: 4.6 Super cute and intimate spot. I went around dinner time so it wasn't too crowded. The drinks were good but extremely expensive for the size of the place. It's a great place for a night cap. I'd recommend if you're in the area & looking for something quiet.

Cute little speakeasy-ish cocktail bar in Clinton Hill. We stopped here as part of the Winter Tippler tour to try out Mayflower's Negroni. It's definitely pleasing to the eye, but very much an acquired taste. It was the first time I've ever tried a Negroni and to be honest I don't think I'll be having one again (through no fault of the bar). This place is SMALL. So I can only imagine how packed it gets on weekends. We were lucky to choose to visit on a weekday night. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly to us. He explained how they have a few signature cocktails but tend to make more of the classic stuff. They also have a pretty interesting beer menu as well. There's no kitchen here but thankfully the bar is attached to a restaurant so you won't have any trouble finding a place to eat. I may return if I'm around.

Nice place to grab a drink if you're ever in the Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn. Discovered this place during the Winter Tippler event. The ambiance is dark and intimate. Friendly bartender. A great place to relax and wind down.

Excellent drinks, ambience and vibe. Tiny. Just the way I like an upscale but neighborhood-ey cocktail bar. Better A/C would be nice!?!

We had put our names down at Aita and they directed us to The Mayflower next door if we wanted to grab a drink while we were waiting.

I had never been to an amaro-focused bar before. The space is larger than it appears from the outside, with several smaller rooms branching off from the main area. The decor has an old-school feel, with dark wood, tile accents, and a few quirky touches that give it some character. Though here was no seating available, at least on the night we visited, it standing room only, with guests finding a table to gather around while servers brought water, menus, and took drink orders. The cocktail menu features a variety of amaro-forward creations, though there are also options for those looking for something more familiar. I ordered one of the house cocktails, and while it was not quite what I expected, it was interesting and gave me a chance to try flavors I do not normally encounter. Overall, Amor y Amargo is a cool spot with a unique concept that stands out from the many cocktail bars in the city. The standing-room-only setup may not be for everyone, but it worked well enough for a drink or two. I would recommend it if you are looking to change things up and try something a little different in the East Village.

The food is probably the closest you can get to actual Spanish tapas but what i love most about this place is that everythings got flavorrrrr For our table of 4 we got CROQUETAS with their house cured chorizo- very good POLLO FIORENTINA- chicken was so tender and packeddd with flavor! BARRIGUITA- plentiful serving for a tapa, we loved the potatoes it came with too CHICHARRON DE POLLO- flavorful chicken and easier to eat than you think TARTAR- delish but small Chipirones- sooo delicately breaded you can barely tell, was great COSTILLA A LA PLANCHA- plentiful for a tapa, we recommend cooking for longer since its traditionally a tough cut of beef SAUTED VEGETABLES- tastey and not mushy thankfully! MILLIONAIRE CAIPIRINHA for my drink. was soooo good, not too sweet and not quite as sour as a margarita, was perfect for me!

When I was there, they had a DJ playing, and it added energy without being too loud or overwhelming. The Service was very good, the waiter answered and helped with all our questions. The food was absolutely amazing really flavorful and well done. Just be a little prepared that most dishes come in smaller portions. But the quality definitely makes up for it. I ordered the paella, and it's easily enough for two or even three people and it was well worth it. Really delicious. The drinks were also definitely worth trying while you're there. The only thing I wasn't big on was the desserts they didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal. But overall, great atmosphere, excellent food, and a fun experience. I'd definitely come back.

But don't let the basement level dissuade you; they really turn their location into a strength. There's a covered "outdoor" section with lots of natural light, and the inside is spacious and modern, with a semi-open kitchen that makes it feel like you're in a place twice its size. The tapas we tried were great. Patatas bravas were crispy on the outside, with a fluffy inside, and maybe a touch too much salt. The hamachi crudo was excellent, with a unique coconut and mango sauce that gave it a touch of sweet to go with the zest. And the pulpo was great, the octopus was well prepared and the sauce was hearty without dominating the taste. The half chicken was the most memorable dish; our server recommended it, and it's clear why. It was unbelievably juicy and tender, with plenty of lemon flavor in every bite. Lots of meat, don't expect a small plate like the other menu items! All in all a good experience in a nice atmosphere, definitely staying on the list for tapas in the future.

To find Debajo you have to find the staircase leading down as this is below ground level - hence the name. MUST GET the patatas bravas - just enough to share between three people but might want to get two orders if your party is more than three. DO NOT GET the queso - it's literally a couple thin slices of cheese, a tiny bowl of almonds, and some tomato mixture. You can add bread for like $7 on top of the original $16 price - actually ridiculous for what you get. The roasted duck breast was flavorful and tender, and the bavette steak was even better. Really great to share as well since they're cut up already. Good vibes in Debajo - would definitely come back again. It was clean and very chic.

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.
