So, after asking friends and everyone I met about what they did and who they used, we found out about Arcadia Gardens Retirement Hotel. I was really happy with the care my mom got there. With their help, she recovered from the first stroke and was able to get around and feed herself. Over time, she had another stroke, a heart attack, and eventually had memory loss, spending her last years in memory care. I want to say that not only did my mom get wonderful care, but they also cared about me! They made sure I understood what my mom needed. They went over her meds, always explaining what she was taking, and talked about diapers, what brands worked best for her, wheelchairs, mattresses for the hospital bed, and so on. I will say I went several times each week to check on things - it's teamwork, and with Arcadia Gardens on my team, my mom had a good life right up until the end. Of course, every facility has its ups and downs -- no place is perfect -- but this one is definitely among the better ones. Julie actually listens to our concerns and needs, and the kitchen staff is very accommodating with anything our mother needs. While the call light response time could be a little quicker at times, we understand how busy the caregivers are. Overall, we are truly grateful. Recently a dispute with Spectrum has left residents without access to cable and DODGER games. In some cases, TV is all that immobile residents have to keep informed about the outside world. Mom, 92 years old, has been a resident for a little over a year and initially was happy with the facility. Elderly folks do better with a routine and a staff they can build relationships with. I hope the new owners correct the cable issue ASAP since it is quoted as one of the attractions of the Facility.

I am delightfully and surprisingly impressed with Ramona Nursing & Rehab. It is such a relief to know my father is with trusted and caring professionals. Almost everyone, even people in different stations, know my father by name. They staff will smile, greet you, and tend to your request quickly. They have a great team of healers including PT, OT, Speech therapy. And the administration is friendly as well. They are proactive and patient. The facility is clean and organized. Though the building is old and dated, you can see the effort they put in to keep it as comfortable as possible. Parking lot is always full weekdays. Weekends are much better, less staff at the facility, so more time for visitations.

They refuse to allow patients to use the bathroom because of their safety, and instead insist on…read moreusing diapers. they claim the patient might fall! Patients are there to recover and regain their mobility, right? But they would rather keep them confined to their beds or wheelchairs. Any questions are met with the same frustrating response of "I don't know." Our loved one left the facility after 6 weeks and still unable to walk independently. Yet, after only 2 weeks at home with minimal physical therapy, ( 3 times a week) he is now walking without any assistance. Stay away from this facility!
