I will not be back. My dog got bit in the eye by another dog. The pet owners are not responsible at all for their dogs. If you have an aggressive dog don't bring them to the dog park. My dog likes to fetch and play friendly. He is not pestering other dogs constantly and if he was, as a pet owner, I would call him off. Unfortunately, some pet owners don't pay any attention or just don't care. Their dogs kept trying to hump my dog. He did his best to skirt away and make it very known he's not the one but they were relentless. It took all the fun out of playing at the dog park. We literally had to leave because the other pet owners wouldn't stop their dogs. It was ongoing for 10 -15 minutes. Come on pet owners pay attention. My other complaint is the middle field has not been well maintained so at this point it's mostly dirt. It's unfortunate but we will not be back. read more

Accessibility: there are two accessible parking spots close to the entrance with a ramp to get up to the sidewalk. Once inside the first gate, this dog park is divided into three separate dog pens, one for small dogs, one for medium sized dogs, and one for large dogs. Once inside the dog pens, it's mostly grass so it's not ideal for some wheelchairs or people who have a difficult time on uneven surfaces. Experience: I like this park. I had a really peaceful experience here on a Saturday around 6PM. The pens here are a bigger size than the dog parks in San Marcos so all the dogs have plenty of room to run around or be on their own exploring. There are a few benches in each pen and a few trees but not many. They have poop bags in case you forgot yours, and there are trash cans to throw it away. There are a few light poles outside the front gate and on the back of the small small dog pen so once the sun goes down and it gets dark, you can see in the small and medium dog pens but the large dog pen is totally dark...this park is also more secluded and near the mountains so be safe after dark in regards to coyotes. Overall, it is a big park, lots of space for dogs in the pens, pens separated by dog size/weight, and it's very relaxing with a beautiful view of the mountains. read more

Nice dog park, pretty big with separate areas for different size dogs. The busiest time is after 3:30 pm I've noticed. Busier is better if you want your dog to have other dogs to play with. Some really nice dog people there too. I've had some very nice conversations with just about everyone I've met there. It's so big, sometimes you might miss your dog pooping, so try to stay aware. If my dog doesn't poop, I pick up a random poop or two. We should keep this place nice. I wish it was a bit closer to where I live, but that's ok. read more

It's has a little dog side that I always look for because I have two - 9 pound dogs. Unfortunately from time to time there will be a Karen/Chad that feels the gigantic 25lb limit sign does not apply to them and they come in with their nervous psycho dog that can't deal in Gen Pop with the other big dogs. Then said dog goes around knocking our little dogs down, rolling them like they are his private toys. I just wish people would be kind and thoughtful. Just follow the rules. Honestly the park is beautiful and clean, an ideal place for a fun afternoon with your dogs. Very large grassy areas and low traffic noise. However, I have 3 friendly but energetic dogs. They all have basic manners and we have started advanced training (there is always room for improvement!). I have never had issues with aggression. We visit parks, beaches, and trails all the time without incident... But every single time we try this park out I have a very unpleasant interaction no matter the time or day. Half of the dogs have no manners and half of the owners have no understanding of normal dog behavior. Tonight my youngest (barely a year old) was kicked by an elderly man for "rough play". When I told him he had no right to assault my dog (especially when I was coming to remove my dog from his medically fragile dogs general area) he rolled his eyes at me and told me to "get your dog out of here"... This man is apparently a regular at the park since several people greeted him and knew the name of his dogs. Any community that finds this behavior acceptable is not an area I feel my beloved pets are safe. A real shame to have such a well designed park ruined by people like this. read more

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love this park tons of grass my baby terrier absolutely enjoys it! But when I bring my elderly shih-tzu who is about 12 she's been traumatized by a big dog who randomly attacked her while taking her on a leashed walk this was at my home area but I take her to the small dog area and occasionally there is big dogs and she tried attacking a golden retriever and I felt bad :( but at the same time plz keep ur big dogs in their area I think she just felt threatened and scared by the bigger dog cause she's super friendly and plays with dogs around her size just fine she usually minds her own business but I think seeing the bigger dog triggered her memory read more

Huge segregated dog park with a lot of dogs. The reason I'm 50/50 on this park is because they have a gopher problem. The whole park is covered with holes and you can see them pop their heads out. The other problem is most of the dog owners are too occupied with talking to each other that they don't even see their dogs poop. There is so much unclaimed dog poop in the small dog area. I even stepped on it. This will be my first and last time at this park. I will stick to poway dog park where everyone is responsible and people hold each other accountable if they miss it. read more

Beware of old crusty people in lawn chairs. They bring dogs that aren't even in the size limit when there are clearly size limits between each little dog park.... Their dogs are not friendly and act like they need to defend their owner and that territory so a small dog can't even sniff around or play. Release the hounds! "Yay", says Lilly pup. Little dogs in one area. Big dogs in another. Separated safely. No leashes. Big buckets of water for my little canine athlete. Doody bags available for her special little poopies. Lilly qualifies for "little" and she got to scamper, chase, attack, lick, and sniff (if you know what I mean) with 5 others her own size. She does not know many dogs, mostly people, so there was a bit of a showdown at the beginning. But we let her work it out, learn some doggie manners, and she warmed up within 10 minutes. This was her first dog park, and she had a great experience in the end. The humans were very responsible and it was safe for walk abouts. The humans were nice too. Just a short 10 minute walk from my home, this lovely, lush, green park lies right off Valley Parkway. There are 3 sections, small dogs, larger dogs and a 3rd gated area for any dogs. It's longer and probably better for the long distance ball throwers and their pups. What's great about this park is how clean it's maintained, the thick grass and endless poo poo bags. I've taken my pup to other parks that have more dirt/rocks and she's gone home with blisters on her paws. Also, I see familiar faces all the time. We just moved to this area and it's so convenient having a dog park nearby. We've frequented it a few times. It's one of the biggest dogs parks we've been too; with 3 different "pens" for your fur babies. Its kept fairly clean as well, but be aware that there's not much grass, and almost all dirt. In other words, I don't recommend taking your dog here if it just came out of the spa or grooming :). There's plenty of water for your dogs, but be sure to bring poop bags, as sometimes the bag dispensers are empty. There's also a private park in the same lot for dog training and obedience that I'm looking forward to trying out. There's road construction going on near this dog park, but otherwise easily accessible and can be seen on the main road right off Valley Rd; right by the Escondido Humane Society. read more

My years in Escondido, my dog and I have gone to this dog park. I've met some of the nicest people there that I maintain friendships. Meeting at certain times at the dog park to let our dogs play. We catch up and chitchat. But there's a lot of negativity about a dog park in general. I hear it all the time when I invite, neighbors or other people to join us at the dog park. There's a good reason not to go to a dog park. I will not return to the dog Park, because of the encounter. My dog, and I had. If you don't understand dogs don't have one, but mostly don't go to the dog park, because it is a test of your understanding of dogs. When they're all thrown into one area to play or fend for themselves. I'm not proud, I got in an argument with a bunch of people sitting on the bench. But I was pushed too far! I had not seen these people before and who chose to remain clueless to their dogs behavior. We are there about twice a week, but we go on the weekdays never weekend. My dog loves the park. He plays with all kinds of dogs , constantly. I throw the ball. I invite others dogs to go for the ball too. All dogs are monitored . These people sat on a bench not monitoring their dog or ignorant to its behavior. We all get along when we take care of our dogs and honor manners . On entering the small dog park instantly we were somewhere in the middle of greeted and attacked by a dog who I will not use her name. A larger dog than the small dog park, which is generally what people do as they bring their larger dogs in there and when there's havoc. You're the one that's attacked by them and you have the small dog in the right yard. Go figure. My dog wanted to be left alone right off to play ball. She went after the dogs said what she needed and retreated. I'll leave this review only that people would consider animals and their behaviors, to make it a better place for all dogs to play. On entering the gate, the dog bothered my dog. I distracted my dog with his ball because that's what we do when we go to the dog park he plays with dogs. Mostly he chases the ball and we play. The dog kept at us then the dog started jumping on me. The dog was bothering me . It was on my heels! The dog as it continued to bother me. I continued to yell at it to get away. Hello anyone home? I asked the group of people on the bench if this was their dog that I'd like the dog to leave us alone. These idiots didn't respond at this time. No response to own the dogs behavior. I continued to wave our dog leash in the dogs face that was attacking us. I kept saying go away. The dog stayed on me and my dog aggressively. A real pain! They allowed this nuisance to be unchecked. My dog said that's enough and went for her dog! They created an aggressive situation and too ignorant to own it. I did my best to ignore their out of control dog. Tossing my dogs ball. Her dog took the ball and ran off. They did nothing. I got there attention by saying was was putting this dog in the larger dog park. Then the guy became a nuisance.,Don't expect a dog or owner to not call you out. My dog is not a police dog but he lived with one. He knows that if I'm bothered to attack now he waited and I waited. I kept saying get away get away. I waited. No adult on the bench took responsibility or gave a darn about their dog. Or mine! I plead with them to get your dog under control. Bumps on a log! No one until it's heated acknowledges they own the dog. Without the guy I think we would've come to a peaceful understanding. He instigated the issue! My point people who don't know anything about dogs if your dog attacks an owner or their pet there's going to be defense. This is what happens the good people stop going and the ignorant take the park. Ok by me! One last point. The bumps left all peaceful for a minute. Then a woman brings in a dog also larger for the small dogs. Her dog bit my leg. I alerted her. She was sorry. But her dog came at us playing ball. My dog like me was enough is enough. He charged her dog. We left! You see how courtesy and respect could've avoided all this. Ignorance fuels an already situation easily to have managed! No more dog parks for us. He goes to OB to swim in the ocean with an Irish wolf hound that's good enough for us. Peace! read more

The place has changed for the better but still needs a lot....the water situation for the dogs is awful....a pretty pitiful faucet in each enclosure along with buckets and large plastic bowls....usually filled with slobber and water....the enclosure are full of gofer holes and the large dog enclosure is almost all dirt. I appreciate the lights a night during daylight savings time (short days). Parking is good here...always spots available. read more

So this is a good dog park in my neighborhood. It's located right in front of the San Diego Humane Society where I actually purchased my dog. The place is pretty standard three different pens one for small dogs 25 pounds and under and two for larger dogs. One big benefit of this places they usually have a grass on all of the pens which is nice so the dogs don't get too dirty however during the summer months they can get a little bit dusty. But overall they do a pretty good job of keeping The grounds clean and trimmed. They offer clean dog bags and trash cans to throw away your dog waste. One big benefit of this part is if you go enough you'll notice certain people usually show up around the same times and they kind of grow into a dog park click or group and really becomes a social event. Of course with all dog parks you will find some patrons that disagree with either your dog or your dog ownership skills but I guess you cannot please everybody. read more

Okay, now we are talking DOG PARKS!! This place is the bee's knees...fido's fancy...the dogs druthers...if your barking here, its up the right tree!! Huge space to enjoy some butt sniffin' times, and three separate areas (small breed, large breed, and on leash) all with great staging areas, picnic tables for the humans to rest their weary leash hands, and water to stay happily hydrated. We took Coal (our recent rescue) and Piper (she's been with us 6 months and loves parks) to visit here on a rainy day, but they made the best of it jumping and playing. Plenty of parking for humans, the only slight knock is that there is construction in the area, make entry a bit tricky. No matter, with our crack street maintenace crews this will be wrapped up in...oh say, 2027. ;) This dog park is really nice, and of all the visits we coordinated today, this is the one we will return to for big play days. The surfaces here are all dirt, there is also plenty of large 5 gallon water bucket to keep everyones tails waggin'. The additional bonus is that the Humane Society is right next door, which makes this park especially cool. Thanks city of Escondido, for making this great park for locals so their furry friends can spend a little time running over rawhides and sniffin' butts. We will for certain be back!! read more

It's a nice park. Nice areas for the dogs - flat and big and clean. However, the patrons are mildly ghetto. Someone brought her Great Dane into the little dog pen (30 pounds and under). Also, a beautiful bloodhound named Beauregard jumped up on me (as in, stood up and had his paws on my shoulder) when I tried to throw a ball to my own dog. Rancho Bernardo Dog Park is just down the 15 freeway and about 100,000 times better. Go there instead. read more

I like that there is a dog park in Escondido. When we first moved here, this place wasnt that nice. They had 3 pens, but no signs noting what size dogs can be there. Some of the bigger dogs arent nice and some of the smaller dogs think they're big. Now that they have remodled it little, there are pens for different size dogs which makes it much better. We take our dog here atleast once a week. Usually the same poeple are almost always there around the same time. Its good that there are plenty of poop bags around to pick up after your dog. Across from the actual pens look like there are training pens with trainiers sometimes there on the weekends. I beleive there are compeitions there sometimes as well. Its nice to have a off leash place to bring my dog outside of my home. I appreciate that this place is here. read more

I was excited to hear there was dog park in Escondido. Went there and wasn't too impressed. It looks like an empty lot that has been fenced in. There is dog feces everywhere- people refuse to clean up after their pets. The 'clicks' that congregate there can be rather nasty. They sit and talk crap about everyone-some sit and smoke while their dogs run rampant. I kept hearing from different people how they almost got into fights with these individuals-both in the small dog and large dog pens. Not the dogs, but these people ruin it for everyone. That said, there are some nice people that I did meet though. I guess it comes down to timing. On a more serious level, it makes me wonder how many of these individuals take the time to vaccinate their pets. I heard from a couple of people that this park had been closed down back in December for parvovirus. Not good.. read more

Really nice dog park. There are 4 different enclosed areas that dogs can run around in. That is nice because that allows people with smaller dogs to stick together and the bigger dogs tend to migrate to a neighboring enclosure. I took my parents' 4 year old beagle who is very shy, but she seemed to have a great time running around- there is lots of space in each enclosure. It was all really well maintained. Clean lawn, benches and picnic tables, doggie bags for poop collection, and readily accessible trash cans-- all in an area where your pup can run free. Other patrons were friendly and everyone seemed to be having a great time playing with whatever dog came their way. No complaints except that the location is remote, on the edge of esco. I had to drive a good 15-20 minutes to get here, but on the upside, parking is plentiful. read more

The medium pen was closed for turf renovation, so he had to play in the pen with the big dogs, which we were nervous about at first, but he did so good and even made a friend. Recently my boyfriend and I have brought our dogs with us to enjoy the dog park. He actually has brought his corgi to come play here a month prior to me bringing my dog because I was hesitant of the conditions being around bigger dogs. Yup my dog is smaller and has a small dog complex...you know those small little rascals that bark at the big dogs because they're thinking "I can take you on. You wanna piece of me? Huh huh?!"...and meanwhile the big dog just looks at the little dog like "fool I will cut you faster than you can woof but I just won't". Yup. That's my dog. The first time my dog and I were out here it was a big sigh of relief. I felt like a mother letting her kid go on the first day of school. They have 3 fields (at the time only two were in use because they were fixing up the middle field) and are separated by weight group (small is under 25lbs, large is over 25lbs). Neat! There are also some trees and benched in each field as well as containers for water, although it's fine to bring your own if you're concerned about your furry baby. Hey you never know about communal cups... They also have doggy bags for poop picking as well as 2 trash containers in each field. For the most part the park is kept pretty clean and not hole-y because dogs are refrained from digging (it keeps the fields looking nice!). I avoid going when it is sprinkling or raining outside because man does my dog get dirty after a good romp in the park. I'm not into that sort of thing but if you don't mind your dog getting a little dirty then by all means. Lights are on when nightfall arrived (they close at dusk), and generally most dog owners and their fur babies are friendly. You just have to keep an eye out in case of doggy tensions. read more

Best part about this place? They have separate gated areas for small, medium and large dogs. Super smart and considerate! This was my first time taking Peanut to a dog park & he was a bit timid so I was thankful for those separated areas. Not sure how he'd of done with the big dogs! They have plenty o'parking, some shaded areas, a few picnic tables and water bowls scattered about. I think people brought and just shared or maybe they're provided by the park? To be sure I suggest just bringing your own bowl. There's a water faucet there. Only reason I docked a star is I wish there were more trees in the small dog section. I'm not a dog park person- I'm a dog beach person and I take my dog hiking to keep her active since we live in an apartment. Tonight I needed to see how she did with this other dog that will be joining us on our next hike so we took them here to make sure they got along. They totally did! My dog went crazy in this huge area running circles. I didn't step in any other dog mess. It was pretty clean. They do provide bags and water buckets. Large dogs are separated from small dogs. We have three dogs, a 14 month old yorkie, a 5 year old yorkie and a 4 month old Portuguese Water Dog and they all love this park, as do we. We are here after work during the week and first thing in the morning on weekends. We have have great dogs that are pretty well behaved and we pay close attention to all of them...we have not had any issues what so ever. However, there are several pet owners that aren't very attentive to their dogs, don't pick up their "deposits," and text or talk on the phone the whole time. I have found owners like this everywhere, especially Balboa Park. Mayflower is clean, the fencing is solid, all pens have double level water fountains and parking is abundant. There are 3 big areas - one of small dogs, one for big dogs, and maybe one for all dogs? There were never too many dogs in the small side at once, which meant that my little guy could play without being overwhelmed and run around. He was so happy to be there!
