Without a doubt my favorite public pool. The pool has a nice temperature and there is so much for…read morekids to do. If you can pass a swim test and are 48" tall, there is a great water slide that is a part of the couple of bucks you'll spend on admission and you have access to the diving board. I love that they open nearly the entire pool to open swim when it's open swim time, so you don't have to deal with lanes. The staff are always so nice and they do a good job of being consistent with their rules.

An update is long overdue...and it's 3 stars. I should've written an update when it was a solid 5…read morestars but this summer (2025), the City of San Marcos partnered with Premier Aquatics and unfortunately, sometimes with change, things go a bit downhill. Before Premier Aquatics, there were plenty of chairs and lounge chairs in the shade, the pool was open during the summer 7 days a week, 12-5, and every Friday night was 'Family Nights' from 6-8. The lifeguards brought out a huge obstacle course and all the kids loved it. Not anymore. The pool is open less hours for recreational swim. M-Th 12-3. F-Su 12-5. There are way less chairs, and no more 'Family Nights'. It's pretty obvious why the rec hours are limited...Premier Aquatics makes more money off swim lessons than they do with recreational swim. They offer more pool passes at different price points, but none of them are through the City of San Marcos. You're buying it straight through Premier Aquatics. My kids still enjoy it, but....meh. 3 stars.

Big shoutout and thank you to Matthew at Aquaguard Pool Fences! I shopped around with several pool…read morefence vendors, but I could tell pretty quickly that I'd be moving forward with Matthew. From the start, he was honest, transparent, and never once used high-pressure sales tactics (which I really appreciate). His quote came in fair compared to others I received, and he took the time to really understand our needs. We needed the fence as part of the process to become resource parents for San Diego County foster youth, and Matthew was incredibly thoughtful in helping us make sure everything aligned with CA code requirements. He even encouraged us to confirm details with our social worker and was flexible when we hit a small curveball with elevation changes from a nearby step. Installation day was seamless, about 4 hours for 136 feet of 5-foot fencing, and the finished product looks amazing (pictures don't lie!). He also went above and beyond by cleaning up the area, walking us through how everything works, and making sure we felt comfortable using the gate and removable sections. What really stood out was how easy and genuine he was to work with, it felt more like talking to a friend than a vendor. Plus, the lifetime warranty is a huge bonus and something we didn't see with other companies. I highly recommend Aquaguard and Matthew if you're looking for quality work, professionalism, and someone who truly cares about getting it right.

We scheduled the install for the following week and everything went perfectly. He was on time, very professional, and did an outstanding job. There's an ample number of cardio machines and just plenty of equipment overall, I didn't have to wait. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Every time I visited, the pool seemed to be open, which was a nice perk. One of the highlights for me is that this location still has racquetball and a great variety of punching bags. I really enjoyed working out here. They also have a separate dry sauna, which can be a deciding factor for some people when choosing a gym. Plus, there are plenty of food options within the same parking lot, making it super convenient for a post-workout bite or a quick meal.

I joined this LA Fitness after specifically asking whether the cardio TVs rotated among different…read morenews channels. I was told they included a mix of Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. That mattered to me because I don't think a gym should feel politically one-sided. After joining, I found that wasn't true. The TVs are overwhelmingly tuned to Fox News. When I asked about it, a front desk employee acknowledged that it's essentially Fox all the time and said management wasn't interested in changing it. What makes it feel even stranger is that the only TV showing a different news network was the one in front of a single accessible cardio machine, which gave the impression that any alternative viewpoint was being treated as an exception rather than part of a balanced lineup. This gym serves a very diverse community. People of different political views, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds all come here for the same reason: to work out. A fitness center shouldn't feel like it's endorsing one political perspective when something as simple as rotating news channels is clearly possible. Or maybe just ditch the news altogether and replace it with travel, nature, or other neutral programming-- which wwould make the environment more welcoming for everyone. My biggest disappointment isn't which channel they choose. It's that I made my decision to join based on information that turned out not to be accurate. I hope management will reconsider and create a TV lineup that better reflects the diversity of its membership instead of presenting only one viewpoint.
