Dr. Al-Shaer is very thorough and takes the time to explain things. A high-quality physician.

He was very difficult and would ask a question I'd answer and then he would ask over and over the same question. He made it seem like I needed a cyst removed and it would be super easy, quick and painless. He appeared to not know what he was doing. The assistant nurse corrected him three different times. During my last visit, I came in to have a brown spot near my eye, treated with cryotherapy. Just before the doctor applied the freezing agent, I noticed she was aiming it directly at my face and close to my eye. I asked her to adjust the angle away from my face, but instead of angling it away from my face, she angled it toward my eye/nose. It happened quickly and it was a bit alarming! After the incident, I attempted to address my concerns about patient safety and comfort through a professional email exchange. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly bounced from one department to another, with no one taking real responsibility. Eventually, my concerns were ignored altogether. There was minimal acknowledgment of what happened, no meaningful follow-up, and no offer of goodwill. If this were my business, I would've reduced the fee or, at the very least, offered a discount on a future visit. Instead, my request was dismissed--and I was sent a letter stating they would no longer provide me with care which was quite insulting. I paid my bill in full and was nothing but professional throughout, but I feel the way they handled this situation was rather surprising. I won't be returning, and I won't be recommending them. They clearly don't value patient feedback.

But with Dr Parish it was even worse. Waiting times are absolutely ridiculous, they rush you when you finally get into exam room, and worst of all, the dr did not listen and address many of my concerns! There are far superior dermatologists in area that should be called instead.

Neither of us are generally fond of doctors but love Dr. Parish. She is intelligent, pleasant and concerned about the whole patient. That extra concern helped my daughter get life changing assistance with a non-dermatological condition. It is easy to get an appointment with her. We have never experienced wait times even close to what we have with most doctors. Yes, her personality is a bit quirky at times, but never at all unprofessional! We enjoy that human touch very much. She does not biopsy things without the patient's consent. That can come across as indecision on her part, but it is not. She simply is not patronizing the way many specialists are. If you are not sufficiently numbed, it is because you did not let her know as she asked several times. Because my daughter had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Parish, we also have a good idea of what she is like with other patients. My daughter was impressed with Dr. Parish's ability to adapt to patient needs and different personalities, her compassion with those battling cancer, her knowledge, and her skill. Please don't wait to get an appointment with someone else. Just get your needs met quickly and competently with Dr. Parish!

The hospital staff advised us correctly that he is a "man of few words." When we asked if there was another gastroenterologist we could call in for additional consultation, their response was that he was the only one on staff and maybe we should go to Manhattan or elsewhere. Dr. Rosenzweig answers your questions and volunteers little else in terms of information. In his office he is the same way. He did not inquire about any history (not even relevant medical history). He knew nothing of the patient's relevant medical issues even though this information had been given at the hospital and also in the required new patient paperwork in his office. His visit in the office lasted 6 minutes. His exam consisted of taking the height and weight of the patient and pressing on their abdomen. It ended with "see me in two weeks and we will see how you are doing" as he was heading to exit the office. Prior to the appointment, his office staff was rude and threatened to cancel the office appointment when the new patient paperwork was not received in advance. (You are not allowed to fill out paperwork a half hour before the appointment, but instead we had to drop it off several hours before the appointment - they seem to think that everyone owns a printer and fax machine.) A stressful situation was made worse by the staff and a provider that does not offer healthCARE. If you are in need of a gastroenterologist I would NOT recommend Dr. Rosenzweig.
